Haircut with Roshana: I am very picky when it comes to choosing a hair stylist because I usually wait for a hair cut until I visit my home country every summer. This was a last minute appointment and Roshana was able to book me on the same day. I did not have a clear idea about what I wanted. My hair was very long and did not look really healthy with weak split ends, so I needed a good clean up and some movement/layers. Roshana did what I needed for sure. I appreciated that she checked with me about the length a few times before completing the cut. I am a professor, so I have to add some constructive feedback as well :) -- Roshana made me feel comfortable with a friendly conversation, but I felt a little bit rushed at the beginning (it's a busy salon). My hair is long, wavy and heavy and because I am a mom of two it usually ends up in a ponytail. I went to Angela per a friends recommendation and wanted something different and new and was told she was the one to do it. I have always enjoyed the after effect of a haircut when I am walking out of a salon but usually the next day I was always an disappointed in the results. As a result I never went back. I love color on women but always assumed that my hair and face type could not handle it. Angelia Teena is an artist! She cut, color and styled my hair with precision, patience and finesse. My review reflects only upon the two the stylist there at Expressions Salon on Oak Grove Ave in Menlo Park, CA whose behavior I feel negatively impacts the quality and professional image of the salon. I stopped coming to Expressions Salon recently due to the unprofessionalism and passive- impressive behavior exhibited by my primary stylist. To start her not being forthcoming in declaring her flatiron oven was broken when I complained my hair was not straight from the service. She was busted by another coworker who at my next visit mentioned in my presence her previous broken and the brand new oven that was currently at her station. The other two times, she defied my request to not use certain styling products and the third she did not allow my hair to fully dry before straightening causing reversion. What would have been the very last visit, I just spared her fault and asked to pay for another appointment but was given an appointment the following Sunday after 2PM due to her great concern of others seeing a redo a client. I had concerns about being in a closed shop without others present. Her coworker, friend who serviced me once at Expressions burned the hell out of my scalp with this very hot steamer apparatus that I was trapped under for some time. When in her chair, I was subjected to her neck rolling, hand on hip attitude in disagreement, to my advisement of my being allergic to products with coconut, because -her other clients had not complained!? Despite tipping this stylist and thanking her when I arrived at my last appointment with my primary stylist she stood for what seem like eternity at shampoo station giving me a death glare, for some reason, she later came to shampoo bowl with another client and positioned her (not so fresh smelling) behind right on the side my face instead standing of the other side during Covid distancing. Future present clients, just know it that it is not you, maybe Expressions management will take heed before it is too late. read more

I don't live on the Peninsula anymore, and wasn't over the moon about going to someone other than my guy in New York. That said, I'd been traveling for a month, and had an outright hair emergency. I brought her the color/tone recipe from my guy, and Voila! No more Witchy-Poo! Since I come to the Bay Area regularly, and plan to be here Thanksgiving, I already told Roshana I'll be back in early December. Prices are reasonable here, and I liked her no fuss approach. Plus...she reminded me of a restaurant in San Carlos called Kabul.
