I've been coming to Mario's, more specifically John for the last 11years. The first time I got a…read morecut from John was when I was a freshman in college. I kept coming back because they are simply awesome. John is the master Jedi of hair and style - male or female, long or short, all colors, all ages. I've come in with ideas, pictures, and sometimes nothing and he always seams to nail it. Every freaking time. I've recommended him to others including my mom. He did a great job w her her hair as well. John has that magic touch which is hard to explain. Sometimes I just tell him "hey man, just use your magic" and he'll cut and style my hair in a way that looks best. Geno is the manager. He's a really nice gentleman and a classic Barber. For the the guys that want a classic Barber cut - ask for Geno. The location is Perfect right at one of the entrances of the mall. The shop is clean, new, and super nice. Everytime they have moved locations Geno has brought his fashion along. So Def be sure to check out his unique fish tank and engage him in conversation about it. They also use the best and most hip and up to date products. Def seek their recommendations. Prices for the products are expensive but that's what amazon is for haha. I would highly recommend Mario's for your next hair appointment. Prices are reasonable. Service is good. Staff is polite. Just as the case with any hair salon, be specific and be sure to communicate your desires to your stylist. The people at Mario's will deliver.

I honestly don't know what I'd do without Kathy in my life. Five years ago, I called her for an…read moreappointment after I realized that two of my friends who always have amazing hair both went to her. Since then, I've made loyal customers of my husband, my mother, my two sisters, and two friends. Kathy does great work with all textures and styles. But as someone who has curly hair, it's particularly difficult to find a good hairdresser. Every curly girl I've ever sent Kathy's way has been overjoyed. She knows exactly how to prevent the dreaded triangle-headed effect, and while she will counsel you on frizz-taming products, she definitely won't push them. I've never had a bad experience with Kathy. Kathy converted a room of her home into a full-functioning salon. (The first time I went to her, I was a bit confused to be driving through a suburban neighborhood.) But as a result, she's able to charge a lot less, even though she has decades of experience. I used to go to pay around $45 a cut for inconsistent results; Kathy is half the price and always perfect. Every appointment with Kathy is a joy; she's upbeat and bubbly and has the ability to make you feel simultaneously like an honored guest and a pampered client in her beautiful home.

I have not had a good experience ever at a salon and the last time I had gone to get my hair cut was almost 10 years ago. The last stylist ruined my hair and it has barely grown. I had thought i had lost all hope for ever getting length back. I was fed up and I was looking around Rochester for a good hair stylist. I have really curly hair and I was not expecting to have any luck with my hair. I am not from Rochester so I was even more skeptical! But once I called Kathy and set up an appointment, I had known she knows her stuff. The first half hour I was there, we just talked about what I use in my hair, how i style it etc etc. She went through the dos and don'ts especially with curly hair. She then proceeded to show me where my hair was cut wrong, how many inches she needs to take off in order for it to be healthy. Any question I had, she answered no problem. She cut my hair, layered it and straightened it for me so I can see the layers and it is beautiful! I will be coming back in a few months for a trim but I recommend this lovely lady to anyone!! She works out of her home and her in-house salon is gorgeous! HIghly recommended to anyone!
