OK here's the situation, so my little cousin is going to prom on this Friday. Her parents began…read moremaking preparations starting in October of last year. She went to G'von Boutique in South Holland, IL to look at a dress. OK so she looked at one dress and fell in love. The lady Shaun who worked there at the time took her measurement and got everything together to order the dress. She informed my cousin that the order would not be put through until she put down half of the amount for the dress, but come to find out she NEVER ordered it. The owner then calls my cousin and says that she has a dress that she might like better than her first dress. They agreed to come in and look at it and she loved this dress better than her previous selection. Right then is when her dress was "supposed" to be ordered. So coming in to March the dress was paid in full and expect by the end of the month. Fast forward to this Monday (5/9) of this week, calling the Boutique owner in regards to the dress and my cousin was told it would be in the store on that Wednesday(5/11). Now here comes Wednesday, the owner is still giving my cousin the run around about her daughter's dress. She informed her that the dress was supposed to be delivered and but it was going to take too long so she sent someone to go get it and it would be in the shop at 6:15p. My cousin didn't trust her...so we went up to the Boutique around 4:50p. As soon as we walked in door the owner starts yelling "I told you it would be here at 6:15, there was no need for you to come up here now". After she was done with the customer that was already in the store, she asked us if we didn't mind her leaving us there while she stepped out for a moment. That moment turned in to 2 1/2 hrs (didn't you say that someone will be dropping it off at 6:15)?! Finally she returned with the dress, what a sigh of relief until............................my cousin started to try it on. AWWW HELL NAH...ITS THE WRONG SIZE!!! ALL HELL BROKE LOSE! This lying, thieving, ignorant, OLD HAG! She never ordered the prom dress, and tried to play it off by going to buy the same dress at another store!!!! NEVER, I repeat NEVER, NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER order or purchase anything from G'von Boutique on 159th (162nd) in South Holland!!!! She will lie, steal, overcharge and will not produce your clothing in a timely manner or at all. Mama taught me to respect my elders but that lady was old enough to know better. But she made my little cousin cry so the gloves were off! Please Spread the word so that people will know about this business and will not support it. Because we have just found out that this isn't the first time the owner has done something like this to someone. (THANK GOD for Cinderella Boutique in South Holland for coming through and being able to get her a dress for tomorrow night!)

RACIST EXPERIENCE - Dior at Macy's Downtown Chicago…read more December 23, 2025 | around 6:00 PM This was one of the most racist and humiliating retail experiences I have ever had. On December 23, 2025 around 6 PM, I visited the Dior counter at Macy's downtown Chicago. I traveled from Virginia specifically to shop at this location and went alone to buy a Christmas gift for my sister. I politely asked for recommendations about Dior liquid foundation, highlighter, and gift sets. The older sales associate treated me with clear disrespect from the start. She avoided eye contact, made me wait about five minutes just to answer a simple question, and refused to clearly explain products or prices. Her attitude made it obvious that she did not want to help me. Because of this, I decided to leave and go to Chanel. What happened next crossed the line completely. The same sales associate followed me and said there was someone named Karina in the back corner who "speaks Asian language." This comment was openly racist. She never asked if I needed language assistance, never asked where I am from, and instead assumed I could not speak English based solely on my Asian appearance. I am a college student, and I speak English fluently. There is no such thing as "Asian language." Asia is a continent with many cultures and languages. Reducing all Asians to one language is ignorant, offensive, and racist. This was not a misunderstanding. This was racial profiling. I felt judged, insulted, and humiliated in a public space. No customer--especially in a so-called luxury brand like Dior--should ever be treated this way. The fact that someone with this mindset is working in customer service is unacceptable. Dior and Macy's should be ashamed to allow this behavior. This employee clearly lacks basic cultural awareness, professionalism, and respect. Immediate disciplinary action and mandatory diversity training are necessary. I will never return to this Dior counter, and I strongly warn others--especially people of color--to be cautious. Racism should never be tolerated, especially in 2025.

I have not visited River Oaks Center (I still think of it as River Oaks Mall) for some time chiefly…read moredue to highway construction that made it very difficult to get in and out of from where I live. There were also several first-run movie theatres that I believe were closed due to an antitrust legal problem. Both factors have caused several years' worth of delays in visits to the Center until today. (The COVID shutdown contributed as well.) My visit took place in the early afternoon hours of 8-3-2022. I visited Macy's then took a walk on the interior of the complex. Security are visible and available near the center of the Mall. Food service is somewhat scarce at this point (August 2022) but I believe there is a Sonic Drive-In on the perimeter of the Mall and other restaurants across the street (Torrence). There are restaurants south of the Mall/Center as well. They are on Torrence. I did notice that some perhaps two stores were closed with no signage indicating when they would re-open. I would check the store's webpages or give them a call to confirm their hours. This was true of the store Pink today. The anchor stores are J.C. Penney and Macy's. It was a very warm day but the air conditioning was not working well. For the sake of the Mall workers this needs to be addressed especially around the center of the building. Given the fact that I was there on a Wednesday at mid-day I thought that there were quite a few people at the Mall/Center; it was very far from being deserted. I believe a jewelry store was mentioned in a past review; I believe there are two franchise-style jewelry stores found here, and people were shopping there. I visited Macy's, FYE and Bath and Body Works on this visit. The staffpeople were very helpful! If I am in the area I will certainly visit River Oaks Mall/Center in the future. They do need to have the AC looked at however.
