I was visiting Denver for the first time and wanted to take an aerial class…read more The instructor was very awesome! And I really enjoyed the class. I wish I could come to this more often, but I kinda live too far away to continue attending (and didn't love Denver enough as a whole to be visiting much). I wanted to dock a star because I did not enjoy navigating here or parking (there are only 3-6 legitimate spaces for multiple classes, of which ours was 7; the rest are all labeled as tow away and you just risk it with the assumption it's fine? I am not a fan of that).

I popped in for an intermediate hoop/lyra class while traveling and am glad I did! I was able to…read morebook the class on Classpass (thanks for that accessible booking option!). It was easy to sign up. The location was a little harder to find as it's in the back of a warehousy looking strip of buildings. The parking is also confusing as they have just a few designated spots (that were already taken when I arrived) and the rest were labeled for other businesses. They did have directions on the door for where to park but I was still a mite worried about parking my rental in the lot. The door was open and I was able to start stretching while the previous class finished up. The class was awesome! Challenging and fun. The other students and teacher were friendly and welcoming. Overall a great time and I learned something new!

If you've ever been to Lannie's Clocktower on a Thursday night and seen Midnite Martini perform or…read morewatch the lovely ladies doing magnificent tricks from cloth hangings at a DeVotchka concerts and been slightly envious of their talents or just had a desire to do it too then you should really check out what's going down at Frequent Flyers. Sure, this is fitness. I mean my whole upper body was sore for days after my class here. But, it's also a lot of fun that brings to mind all the things in the opening sentence as well as many childhood afternoons flipping over and over on monkey bars. You can take a specific class that is geared toward fitness even. It creates little stations around hoops, cloths, ropes, walls, and so on where you have different challenges to do in a certain amount of time. And once you get strong enough you can advance to the next level where you are doing aerial activities like it ain't no thing. Beyond the class though the instructors are fabulous. They are great at explaining the moves and not making you feel like a dunce when your upper body just doesn't want to lift you up on two rings and hold you there while you throw your legs overhead slowly and lower them back down. That is key to any enjoyment in exercise for me. I believe they do packs and single pricing for classes and I have to say it's definitely worth checking out.

Turns out, I had nothing to be afraid of because I didn't get too high up. I just got an insane upper body workout from climbing ropes and hanging on trapezes. I'll be honest, I think I have a little bit more strength training to do before I can truly benefit from this class, but just the fact that I spent the entire class with a big ole smile on my face means that, sometime in the future, this is definitely something I want to try again. The staff that taught this class was patient, encouraging and had a great sense of humor about fitness. They made me feel welcome and comfortable, even though I was waaaaaay out of my comfort zone. This is a super fun place and I can't wait to try aerial stuff a little more once I feel like I have a little more core strength going on.
