I ordered a new guitar, but when I received it, it had a bent, selector switch, and a scratch on the back and the tone knob was floating around in the case. I immediately reached out to Griffin and he told me that I would get a full refund. I had read stories about people not getting refunds and so I was a bit nervous. But he followed me every step of the way and his communication was second to none. He would even respond to my emails when he was not at work. Long story short, I returned the guitar and got a full refund with no questions asked. And on top of that, he sent me two Eddie's T-shirts, two sets of strings, and a tuner. You don't come across guys like Griffin very often. He was top-notch and the next time I'm looking for that special guitar. I will certainly reach out to him and give them the business. I visited Driftwood Music in Saint Charles because I needed work done on my Ukulele. It advertises…read moreitself as a business that has expert repair and restoration services. When I've visited, the staff has always been pleasant and have seemed to understand the concept of Service. I would have been happy to give them a Five Star rating, if it weren't for poor communication. When I dropped my instrument off, the tech told me it would be about a week. I was informed after a couple of days, that they were going to order an additional Tuner set because the one I provided wouldn't fit exactly (I was informed that they would have had to drill new holes in the head, which I didn't really want). The length of time to receive the new part was crazy, until I sent a note and learned the Tuners were miraculously there. Then, when they went to install the new Tuners, they found they had ordered the wrong size and would still need to drill holes in the head-- like the problem that started it all. I was finally able to pick the Ukulele up after 3.5 weeks. Upon review of the work they did, it seems they did a great job. I'm happy with their work! But, as, I mentioned, I didn't give 5 stars because of poor communication.

Here is my take on a particular one star review ( I am sure you will see it, probably under this one. First, it is not the store's fault you didn't purchase the warranty, second, the store followed policy to the letter, third, if you knew what you were buying in the first place, why did you buy it? A one star review on a store because YOU were uneducated is YOUR fault, not theirs. I have never had a bad experience there. Maybe because I am a professional musician and know how to tell a good instrument from a bad one. Kudos to knowledgeable and helpful staff, and a great selection of instruments.

She's immediately rude, confused and audibly ignored after a simple question of whether or not the guitar comes with a case. She exhales deeply when I ask if someone can verify the condition for me. We've been on the phone for less than 2 minutes. She hangs up the phone after I ask whether or not she wants to sell it to me. So I went online and spent $1000 on reverb instead. If I was her manager and had overheard this phone call in person, I would have fired her on the spot. I would avoid this guitar center. This is one of the bad ones.

They are not overbearing or annoying and they don't harass you like the kids at "guitar-mart". They carry a good selection of acoustic and electric guitars and basses, effects, accessories, etc. They also do live sound, drums and other things as well that aren't of interest to me as a guitar player. They have everything from beginner to professional grade instruments and gear. If they don't have what you are looking for, chances are they can get it and they beat any competitors price. I have purchased about 10 high end guitars and several high end tube amps/ cabinets over the years and countless effects, cables, strings etc. I now live about an hour away but rather than go to the chain store up the road I still make the trip to Edwardsville for my music gear needs because they are simply the best.
