His other instructor, Kate, has classes that are similar but mix is different: more aerobic and with strength mixed in. What I like is coed group classes are scheduled daily, last 1 hour, and always intense. Sometimes I learn new muscle groups I didn't know I had :) Each day's routine barely repeats from a prior day so never boring. The workout begins with a warmup followed by about 8 exercise routines. Repeat those exercises as many times as you can in 1 hour. Target is about three cycles. I generally complete 1 1/2 - 2 sets. Joe' routines emphasize modest weights with repetition, stretch, balance, and good technique. He spots when a particular exercise is unsuitable for me, and suggests something else without losing the pace of the workout. I value the personal attention in a group setting that keeps cost down. Clientele is mostly female, older Generation Z and Millennials of all ages. Male and female, every age, and all degrees of fitness are welcome. Clientele is generally serious about being there. Gym is clean. And classes start and end on time. You don't make an appointment to be in a class. I recommend Joe and JD Core Training.

This is a lovely OTF studio. Tracy is great, always warm and friendly and super helpful. However,…read morethis review will be focused on one coach in particular - Herlentz Mesidor (Coach H!!!). I started with him at a different OTF studio in summer of 2018, currently have him as a personal trainer since May of 2021, and followed him to the Totowa studio where I go periodically in addition to the personal training. I'll start by saying that I've probably tried to write this review 20 times but never felt like I could find the words fit to describe how much this man has helped me. I still don't feel like I can do him justice here but gotta give it my best shot. He is hands down the most inspiring, energizing, optimistic and professional human (yes, not just fitness instructor but of any human overall) with whom I have ever engaged. He is INCREDIBLY good at what he does - both from his own hard work, dedication and discipline for his craft, and because he truly has a gift for elevating everyone around him. He's also brave and proud (hello pivoting from a previous career to follow his dreams in fitness and helping others), and made of integrity. I feel incredibly lucked to have happened upon Coach H by randomly signing up for my preferred time slots without regard to who the instructor was when I first started going to OTF. I was in the worst shape of my life, and sporadically doing lackluster workouts by myself at home was not getting me anywhere. When OTF opened in my city I decided to commit, but that was the type of decision I had made and failed at a million times before. Fast forward a few months and I noticed that I'm less likely to cancel a class if he's the instructor vs. anyone else. He works so hard for you, and you just end up constantly motivated to do the same. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt the variable that's lead to my success this time around, after a lifetime of failed attempts, is Coach H. Absolute best decision, best money I've ever spent. I don't care if you're an elite athlete or haven't worked out once ever - Coach H can meet you where you're at mentally and physically, and make you better than you are. You just better come correct, because he will be wholly dedicated to you and your process. I owe this man my life.

Crossfit Caldwell - Depending on the workout, the room will look completely different. This place is very different from most gyms.

I was always hesitant to sign up for CrossFit being a smaller framed, linguini-armed individual,…read morewho jogs, can complete 8 push-ups in one set, and the largest weight I ever attempted to pick up was the gallon of skim milk in the fridge. To be clear, the gallon of milk was not picked up due to its weight, it was instead shoved with mighty force to make way for the all important Go-Gurt. Once I built up the confidence to try it out I was shocked that Caldwell CrossFit (CC) is not home to only large, no shirt-wearing macho men who judge all if they can't bench 350 lbs, complete 25 pull-ups and had Jesus himself chisel their bodies. There were other 'regular' people in there! The community is supportive of all who walk through the door and the Staff are incredible. If you're truly serious about getting fit, and not just having a fancy key ring that shows that you're signed up for a gym this is the place to go. Of course it's more expensive than a regular gym, but with it you get ~2 weeks of one-on-one with a trainer to familiarize yourself with the exercises needed, you will never have to wait for weights, you have a personal coach teaching each class encouraging you and giving you pointers, and if you want, you can stay in the gym after class to work on other things. You get what you pay for, people. I am just warning all who have read this far into this post: You're going to be working hard in classes. If you want to putz around the gym in your Lululemon gear, wearing make-up and not breaking a sweat do yourself a favor and don't sign up for CC. **Spoiler Alert (not really spoiling anything & not a spoiler alert): Getting fit is NOT easy and requires hard work.** If you're serious about getting fit and live in the area this is the place to go to. The trainers are second to none, it's clean and it definitely motivates you to come back as often as you can.

I came to Craig Parcells, one of the co-owners of Crossfit Caldwell, suffering from knee pain and…read moreover use injuries. Simply walking my dog was painful at times, and I had not been able to do any activity for several months. Thanks to his willingness to help and dedication to me personally, I have been improved beyond what even physical therapy could offer. I did not think I would be able to exercise ever again. Since working with Craig privately, I am now attending crossfit classes 3-4 times a week, and experiencing less and less knee pain, all while improving strength and skill. I started out as a person who was "afraid" of crossfit and gyms. Now I feel that I have a place that I truly fit in. Every coach and staff member is welcoming and helpful, and not intimidating in any way. Every skill level is welcome at this gym, and they even offer different types of classes to fit your needs. I am very thankful to have found Crossfit Caldwell.
