I have been going to Daniel Lovre for 5 years now! He is such a talented artist and so dedicated to his clients and work. I have never trusted someone more, I even gave him artistic freedom on a large portion of my body! Thank you for continuing to help me become the best version of myself inside and out. read more

I received a tattoo from Daniel, he didn't change the water the entire six hour tattoo and dipped every needle into it (which has never happened at another shop.) My tattoo became infected the next day, all with proper care done by me. i had to go to the doctors and spend another $131 on top of the $260 tattoo to get it fixed. my tattoo was rotting away, burning, and so badly infected. PLEASE DO NOT SEE DANIEL IF YOU GO TO THIS SHOP. I am so very upset and disappointed. read more

I had an amazing experience getting pierced by Shawn. He did a great job and used a needle instead of a gun, which wasn't nearly as painful as I expected, seeing as it was a forward helix, and it is healing great! They used surgical steel, and the price was great. It was 45$, but I'm getting another one today for only 20$. Exile always has great deals, and super friendly staff. My only complaint would be that he didn't give me an option of hoop v barbell v stud, but it isn't that big of a deal, I'll just ask when I come in today! UPDATE 1/1/18: My forward helix still bleeds, hurts constantly, and the cleaning instruction Shawn gave me have only dried it out. Went it to have him take a look at it, and he just barely looked at it and said it looked good. Will probably go to Metro from now on. read more

I've been here before to get a flash Friday the 13th tattoo with a friend and had an awesome experience; but today my wife and I went in for walk-ins, and we definitely were not disappointed! Noah and Aimee were the ones that did our tattoos, and they were AWESOME. Reasonable prices, rad environment, friendly staff. Definitely will be back!! read more

Daniel Lovre is hands down the best artist! I thought for years what I wanted my first tattoo to be. I wanted a tribute to my late Uncle and after I found Daniel's profile on Instagram, I knew I wanted him to be the one to CREATE my vision. He took it beyond what I could image. I told him I wanted magnolia's on my back and he customized it and I could not be happier. His color work and knowledge and experience is very impressive. He was always available to answer questions and educate me on the process of my first tattoo. He now is working on a thigh piece for me. I showed him a small picture of a skeleton girl's profile and I am in love with the goddess he created on my leg. I don't want any other artists to do my work. I am officially addicted and would recommend him to anyone wanting an amazing piece of art! He has a way of incorporating the tattoos to accentuate the curves and flow of our bodies. He paints and sculpts too.. he is a true artist!! read more

Great experience for my first tattoo in Washington! Staff were friendly and professional, and the pricing was affordable. Got tattooed by Noah, and it came out amazing! 10/10 would get another tattoo here read more

Horrible communication skills from everybody that works there. Drove an hour from home to get to my appointment, got there slightly early, stuck around for about 30 minutes, artist never showed up. Decided to give him a second chance cause he "wanted to make it right" put about 2-3 hours worth of outline work on me in 5 hours, 3 out of the 4 characters only have 9 fingers, still decided to continue to go with him despite my frustration, only to pay a $40 deposit fee, to drive an hour there, and an hour back because I got stood up a second time. He apologized and again "wanted to make it right" but when I told him that I felt like he owed me 4 or 5 hours of chair time for free for making me drive 2+ hours and wait time sitting at the shop, he ignored me because I guess he either really didn't WANT to make it right, or he just thinks his time is more valuable than mine. Either way, nobody there offered to try and contact him and figure out where he was or why he had a client there without him. Definitely never getting my business ever again. read more

Got a floral leaf band done by Lenny and it was amazing! I'm very happy with it! This place has a really nice atmosphere. I would totally come back for any future tattoos. Also they are reasonably priced. read more

I went to this shop on a whim because the reviews were good, the shop looked clean when I walked in to make an appointment, it was close by, and I was just looking for something super easy, clean and simple before sitting for my first larger piece I am having designed for me with a friend later this month (which I was super excited about). I know that tattooing an arrow probably isn't the most exciting thing to do for an artist, but I told the shop that I used to struggle with some self injury issues and after being good for awhile I just wanted to do a test run with the needle before sitting for something longer later this month. I was also looking forward to putting something on that arm I could be proud of. I wanted something that had some meaning for me, but I'm also an attorney and wanted something simple with clean lines that I wouldn't have to worry about covering up. The person who was supposed to do my tattoo told me when I got there that she overbooked but not to worry because she called someone else to come in. She said that because it was just an arrow it was no big deal and that she had given him all the info. With it being my first time I wasn't sure what to expect so I went with it. Everyone was really nice and the shop was clean. He drew a line out in pen but didn't really do much more before he started so I didn't know how it was going to turn out and assumed it would be at least similar to the photo. However, I wish that if they didn't want to do a smaller tattoo or weren't able to do the more delicate linework (or even if they just thought it wasn't their style didn't want to do it all together) that they just would have told me beforehand. Now I'm out $100 and I have something I don't like that's already larger than anything in would have wanted on my wrist. The proportions are off, the lines are sloppy, and it basically looks like I let a kid draw on me with marker. I mean it's only a tattoo so whatever but it just wasn't the experience I was going for. read more

I literally just got home from the shop and couldn't wait to write a review for Exile. I can't believe the poor and negative reviews on here. My wife and I both WALKED IN (soon after they opened) and pitched our ideas to Noah and Aimee and they took about 30 minutes to draw something up. Mine was much more simple than my wife's and was done by Aimee. She was kind and professional. The tattoo turned out awesome and I am SUPER happy with it! Noah took care of my wife's tattoo and it is beautiful! He did an amazing job! The prices for both were incredibly reasonable, I was actually taken aback. CASH ONLY, but they were comfortable with us going to the ATM after the session. We will definitely be returning soon. Note: Our designs were both pretty simple so they were cool with walk-ins but they definitely encourage an appointment if it is a bigger, more complex piece. read more

Go. See. Tori. Sure, I am in all senses of the word at Tattoo Newbie when it comes to my own bod. But do I know lots of people with tattoos? Sure do. I've seen lots of good tattoos. And some not-so-good tattoos. None of the not-so-good have come from Exile, however I have seen great pieces of work come from here! She does quality work. Her designs look clean and are absolutely beautiful. Check out all the artists at Exile. They all do incredible work, and can accomplish virtually anything your little heart desires. It's clean, its got a great vibe, and it has good people working in it. Go. read more

I knew I found a good, clean shop. Cool vibes all around. Everyone was so friendly when I walked in. The work here is SOLID. The portfolios that shower the coffee table are worth looking through. Beautiful work from everyone! You won't regret going to any of the artists here. Anyway, I got in touch with Lenny through IG and made an appointment for that same week. He made the 2 hour session a breeze. Everything went well and my arm healed up like a champ. It came out so nice and I'm stoked to come back to the shop for more ink. read more

Exile Tattoo - Healed. Thanks Lenny! - Tattoo Near Me - Olympia, Washington

Love this place! Lenny has done work on three of my tattoos so far and I've been satisfied. Wonderful detail on my ankle piece. He was iffy about doing an evil eye on my shoulder, only because it wasn't really his style but it's what I had drawn myself and I was determined to get it exactly how my sketch was. Make sure you don't have any time constraints though, as it's usually a wait for him. Both times I've gone in I had to wait about an hour and a half after my appointment was made, but he made up for it by knocking the original price down for me. Everyone in the shop is very helpful and talkative. read more

First off I got an industrial... I seriously cannot get over what an amazing experience getting my new piercing was today! What a rush! I haven't felt like that in a very very long time! My last piercing was about eleven years ago so it's been a while. This one didn't bleed a drop and it didn't hurt nearly as much as my first cartilage on my other ear! I was so nervous and so excited. I almost talked myself out of it mentally about a million times. It didn't seem real until I was in that chair. I highly recommend Chaz (not sure about the spelling) she does an amazing job! She had great chair side manner and really helped to ease my nerves immensely. Not to mention this lady knows her stuff. She's been piercing longer than I waited between my last piercing and this one. She is extremely gentle and so fast it was over before I knew it. I almost want to get another piercing without any planning just to have her do it. Go to Chaz! She will treat you right! Overall it was extremely hygienic, fast and friendly. Did I mention they have killer deals on price. Way better than Metro or any of the other places I looked before a friend recommended them. read more

This was my first time coming to this shop after a recommendation from a co-worker and I don't usually ever write reviews on artists because I hardly ever think they are worth what they charge an hour. However Noah has been the one exception. Ended up getting tattooed a very specific design. I have a friend who is a very talented drawer but that doesn't always translate well to a tattoo. Noah was however, able to tattoo this drawing down to the exact detail. Not only that, but had one of the gentlest hands. I had about 11 tattoos prior to coming here and I have a high pain tolerance but regardless, Noah is one of the best. Lines are clean, shading is exactly as depicted in original picture. I am coming back to him and working on an entire upper back piece. Noah does like to do a Neo style of tattooing and change it up from the American traditional style that every artist in the PNW seems to love to do. read more

Oh holy cow, first of all, what an AMAZING staff. Second of all, this shop kicks ass. I just got pierced by my new friend, Chas, (who is so friendly and all around glorious), and it was the best experience by any piercer I've been to. I felt extremely comfortable and well informed on my piercing. I got my cleavage pierced with an anchored dermal, and I was so thankful that Chas walked me through it and make me feel safe. I HIGHLY recommend this shop for any piercing you may desire, and their tattoo artists do some of the best color work I've seen. GET IN HERE!!!!!!!! read more

I have a lot of tattoos. I'm not covered head to toe in swirls or epic unicorn versus narhwal battle scenes but compared to most folks with tattoos... I have a lot. I've had work done at a minimum of 6 different locations (I'm pretty loyal and don't like "cheating") over the past 13 years and I get compliments on the designs and quality of work on my body. With my credentials out of the way... Luis is a badass! Now I realize that this is supposed to be about the shop but the artist is kind of the shop... he does good quality work and he's fast. The shop hourly rate is quite reasonable and their deposit is also on the light end of the scale. Drop off a little dough and let them start designing your next skin art masterpiece. Exile has always been clean and has a good vibe. It's as welcoming at Exile as a tattoo parlor should feel without it being owned by the Olsen Twins. Would you like a pillow and a gingerale? Not at Exile! But if you want a friendly and knowledgable staff then you've found the right place. I've never had Tori do any work on me but I have friends who swear by her just like myself and others swear by Luis. There is eclectic music bouncing around the shop and they have the usual flash up on the walls as well as their personal books of work. Check e'm out and try not to drool with envy. Have an idea? They'll get to work on turning your idea into a legitimate tattoo that will not only be the fruition of your idea but also work as an awesome tattoo. Tend to fall asleep during prolonged sessions? Honey badger don't care! Luis will talk with you and is actually fun and engaging to have conversations with. He'll also leave you alone and let you do your thing while he works. There will be the ocassional interruption as other, previous or future, clients come in to chit chat but the distraction is never long and you get to hear some interesting stories. Overall this is the artist that will do the majority of the rest of my pieces and his shop will be my tattoo chapel. I have and will continue to send business his way because Luis and Exile know how to treat their clientele and provide excellent customer service with the skills to handle their ish. I'm a huge fan and can't wait to go back! read more

I would suggest looking around before going here. I got my small tattoo done at Exile because there wasn't any other option at short notice (when I realized this wasn't my kind of shop) and I was only with my brother for the day. I was extremely upset when my brother and I had simple matching tattoos and were charged $140. The time spent in total was about 15 minutes, mine took about 5 minutes and my brother's took about 10. In addition to my discomfort with the price, I felt the artist was a jerk and I apparently got no say in which artist did my work. His daughter was there screaming in the background the whole time as well. Very unpleasant experience. If I'm going to pay that much I want an amazing experience worthy of telling all my friends about. Tattoo turned out fine but was very simple and wouldn't expect otherwise. Don't go here! read more

I came into Exile with two very specific designs I wanted for my grandmothers; my 6th and 7th tattoos. I met with Tori two weeks in advance, discussed my designs, and left a deposit. Two weeks later I came in for my appointment and wasn't seated until an hour after my scheduled appointment. She still hadn't even finished putting my designs together after two weeks. I was finally seated, pleased with the designs. I kept mentioning how I wanted them placed lower (above my knee) so I could get larger tattoos above these but, "No. That will work." "That's enough room." "That will be okay." Rather than compromising with my life long needs for these tattoos which were placed right in the middle of my thighs. I noticed things in the designs I wanted changed and she said she would as she tattooed. She didn't. She added in things and colors I didn't want. These tattoos were very particular because they represented my favorite people. She ended up making a hummingbird tattoo on my thigh with a sparrows tail and a near-human-looking eye. Two things I mention before the tattoo was started. This was supposed to be a full color traditional tattoo and there is SO MUCH black shading. It's just a back shaded mess. On top of it all, she'd grind into my thigh the entire time. My tattoo ended up completely scarring over and my thigh was swollen twice its size for at least a week. The tattoo on my other thigh didn't even get finished. She expressed so much enthusiasm to do this work at our consultation so she cut me a deal. $300 for both when they were probably valued at about $500 for both. I think the longer she tattooed me, she realized she ripped herself off and started getting lazy and doing a shit tattoo. I will eventually be getting these laser removed and tattooed over. They are embarrassing. I don't recommend going here unless you're just getting flash. A lot of these artists like to do what they want. read more

How else can I say HOLY CRAP AMAZING. I came here with my boyfriend and his family to get family tattoos-don't ask, we were bonding-and despite me having not planned anything in advance, I was getting something on my leg. To be an adept is to embody expertise and thorough knowledge, grasp and skill in particular field of study. When people walk into a tattoo shop with an idea- an adept artist will conjure from this base idea something akin to gold - creating what we call art. Exile Tattoo is a nest of adepts. The entire staff seem to be preternaturally imbued with this quality. Other reviewers have already faithfully reported the good shop basics of cleanliness and deft execution. So I won't go into that. I would be remiss not to mention Noah Boyes. Noah has recently taken up station at Exile Tattoo and Olympia is all the better for it. His particular style has clearly developed from a multi-faceted, seriously passionate background. I've yet to observe him in a state of complacency - he is constantly perfecting, relentlessly studying- and the results of his work are absolutely apparent. There is nothing stale or banal about what he does. Like the alchemists, he will transform a basic concept into a work of transcendent artistry (the caliber of which any individual would be proud to take to the grave.) I am no exception. I have never received an 'ok' tattoo from his man. I have brought him 'ok' ideas - and he has turned my idiocy into genius. I leave walking away with something better than I had ever imagined. If you haven't done so yet, or are shopping for artists- you can stop here! You've found precisely what you're looking for (even if you don't know what you're looking for). A whisper-light hand, humble, engaging and profoundly talented- he epitomizes a tattoo artist whose style is never hemmed in by trends or the neurotic confines of commercial expediency. If you can dream it, he can manifest it. Why are you still reading this? If you've made it this far, you should be arranging an appointment now. You've found the good shit. Welcome to Exile. Self-imposed and fucking beautiful ;) read more

Tattoo turned out great, it was just a design that I brought in. I asked for a couple of changes to the design and Lenny accommodated. It was reasonably priced, too. He was pretty quiet which was fine with me because I'm not much of a talker. Several of the other artists would come by and check out the design, which was fine by me but others may not like that. Also, one of the other artists who was talking to me while I was waiting gave me his personal number before I left. Regardless of intentions, that felt unprofessional to me. Unfortunately, I'm still on the lookout for a go-to tattoo place in Olympia. read more

I got my first tattoo at Exile and had the best of experiences. The entire staff was comfortable, inviting, and just great altogether. The guy who did my tattoo was Luis Martinez, his work is amazing. He came in on his day off to do my tattoo because of my hellish schedule. He gave me an amazing deal, for work that was incredible. My tribal phoenix is detailed and perfect, exactly how I wanted it to look, with only small modifications to keep the design from losing it's sharp image as I age. I can't say I have much experience with tattoos, but I can say that I got exactly what I wanted and more, and that Luis Martinez has earned himself a customer for life. read more
