What Travis Brown tattooed was NOT what was laid out on stencil. If I can figure out how to post pics on this site I will. Started a tattoo over 3 years ago when he charged $150/hr. He does great work so the waiting list is long. By the time I get back in to finish his prices are $250/hr. I go in for my appt and wait over an hour while he's chatting and laughing with a gent in the office. No explanation, just "not yet..." I do two hours at $150 = $300 tipped him $100 fingers crossed he won't pull that crap again totaling $400 - Paid on my card so nice try lying to me Ms. Travis's Wife, when I was looking at my credit card as your trying to cover your lies. 2nd session, fine. 3rd session, he prints a stencil, I approve 2nd guessing him doing this particular piece given the irritation I caught when I told him that I wanted something involving Jesus And a tree with my kids' names. But he's a professional... what he tattooed was not what I approved. It wasn't until I was at work and somebody asked me why Jesus has a forked tongue And I couldn't believe it that I didn't see it before he absolutely does. This is what I get for choosing somebody with a black and red pentagram covering his knee and eyeliner enough to put Paula Abdul to shame to lay down what I was planning on being my last tattoo. After the 4th time of the wife rescheduling my last appointment, this time to Tacoma, I asked her if I could get my deposit back for the tattoo that is not finished and she lied to me telling me that she put that on my first visit. I argued with her thru texts and then figured they already treat their customers like crap in an economy where $150.00 an hour is too far beneath you!? I've sent you so much business too, dang! There was no way I was gonna get that $100 back and it wasn't worth my time to argue with somebody who is making up stories as they go. And was doing an awful job at it. Honey, you can have it. But now I have a tattoo that I need to get fixed so now I have to pay additional for someone else to finish the ORIGINAL tattoo Travis didn't finish on my upper arm, the old ink through Travis' work is still plain as day but now I also have to get this disgusting portrayal of how unprofessional someone can be. I've had my ex do ink on me and even he didn't go that low and he probably had reason to lol. read more

Travis is an amazing artist and extremely professional and personable. I did a lot of research for my first tattoo (especially since I'm going for a 3/4 sleeve) and although the wait list for an appointment with him is long it is definitely worth the wait for something that will be on your body forever. I received a small wrist tattoo from Travis. When it was complete it looked fine. As the swelling went down and the tattoo was healing it became apparent that it need to be touched up. The more it heald the worse the tattoo looked. The lines have a dot in the middle instead of a clean line. Some of the letters are too close together. My tattoo is permanently raises in spots. I emailed them and said that I would like to come in for a touch up (and at that time I was going to ask about the rest of my concerns). They emailed me back within 24 hours asking me what dates work good for me to come in. I replied and never got a responce back. I emailed a 2nd time and still no responce. I called and got their message machine that said to leave a message. I left a message but have never heard back from anyone. This is NOT very professional, it's actually pretty lame. I decided to consult with another well known tattoo artist. He agrees with all the things that I have observed about how my tattoo looks. There is no way to fix the closeness of the letters and recommended that I get a cover up. So needless to say I'm pissed, I researched and Travis was the one people recommend. Because he was booked out so far I waited a long time to get it done. I was perfectly fine with that because I wanted the best. But didn't get what I went for. read more

Ok so I made an appointment to get my first "real" tattoo, (I do have one already, but it is about 1/4 inch and i didn't feel a thing). I went in a little early and Travis was setting up made sure I had water and showed me the drawing, I had a pretty basic tattoo, but interesting design, Hebrew Sh'ma in a flame going up my calf from ankle but I wanted it to look like it was stamped there. Anyway, about an hour later not too much pain and some great convo, my tat was done! Travis does great work, his office is clean and the deco is done very tastefully. I have gone to Travis twice in the past and he has done an excellent job!! The first tattoo I had done was a coverup and it was great!! Then next one was after my wife and I got married and I gave him so freedom with the design and it was great! He is affordable compared to other tattoo shops and does a better job. He is very professional and the environment is very comfortable. I just had a baby girl and will be going back to get a tattoo of her footprints, name, and birthdate. I need to go on record as a preliminary warning to anyone who is considering getting a tattoo from Travis at FleshWorks. He has no concept of customer service, time management, and no respect for others schedules. He has no follow through, nor any regard for a person's emotional attachment to the tattoo they are getting. What started out as a few months after my brothers passing, and wanting to get a tattoo in his honor, took almost a full year. I was introduced to FleshWorks' as a friend had been going to him and attested to his artistry. I needed someone who was superb since the tattoo I was getting was a combination portrait and concept. I also needed someone reliable and trustworthy as this was my first tattoo. Loving and admiring my friends sleeve tattoo I agreed that I would go to him even though I lived in Seattle. I made my first appointment for a Saturday. After waiting on the steps for two hours, he finally unlocked the door and let us in. As a business owner myself, I would never conceive of letting anyone stand outside beyond their appointment. The initial consultation went fairly well. I brought him the picture and said I give you full artistic license but the faces MUST be clear. In the ensuing 6 months there were numerous attempts at contacting him for a status. Messages and emails were not returned or answered. Basically there was no communication from him. A few times I drove down there only to find his door locked and no lights on. I assumed he either moved, or went out of business. It wasn't until my friend kept going by his shop she saw him and discussed getting the concept to me. He came up with excuses of being sick, being sabotaged, not having a front desk person etc. I honestly didn't want to use him, as I had all but given up. My friend reassured me that in the end I would be happy. It took an additional 3 months to get an appointment. It was my friend who actually went to his establishment and selected a date that I obtained the appointment. When I arrived for my appointment, I again, had to wait on the stairs for several hours. I was thankful to have my friend to talk to. People showed up, checked the door, called him from their cell phone and said "where are you? I thought I had an appointment today?" Having the displeasure of seeing several of these people come and go while waiting on the stairs, let alone the appearance that we were loitering, was unnerving. We were finally granted permission to come in, only after I yelled through the mail slot, but said he was still not ready? What he was doing for the hours we were waiting for him was beyond me. So this time we waited in the waiting area for an additional hour. He finally was able to get me into his chair. It took 6 hours to complete the tattoo. During this time his drill kept going out and he had to hit it several times to keep going. Additional people came in and were clearly frustrated that he didn't respond to their phone calls, nor was he present for their scheduled appointments. The tattoo came out beautifully, except for the faces. The part I NEEDED to be the most precise. The surrounding detail was exceptional, just not the portrait. I was so disappointed, but thought maybe it was because it was new. They looked as if you took a photocopy of a photocopy, very distorted and no detail. As time went by and the tattoo faded so did the faces. I had my friend (as I found that was the only way to get an appointment) set up an appointment for him to touch up the tattoo. This was a free service for getting a tattoo from him. I had made my appointment 2 months in advance. The day of my appointment, as I was driving down from Seattle to Olympia, his office assistant called and said "something came up and we have to cancel." I was livid. Not only was I driving down from Seattle, but I had been on the books for 2 months. If you like to waste your valuable time, not have your wishes adhered to, this is the guy for you. read more
