In the end, our builder's preferred lender offered incentives that Stephen said were actually worth "real money" and not just a shell game, adding fees here and there to make the offer look more appealing. He advised us to accept their offer and lock in the rate before any chance of changes. When we expressed shock that he would be so forthcoming when it didn't benefit him, he simply said that doing right by us would bring us back to his company in the future if we ever need another loan. He was absolutely terrific. (He also caught a major mistake that a big name bank made in their initial loan estimate to us. The big-name bank admitted that Stephen was correct.)

I've done a refinance through Pathway Mortgage Group, and it started off very well. I got a call…read morefrom Barb talking about how good of an idea it is to refinance, and how I can save money on interest rates, etc. I was promised a quick, painless process that would get me the lowest rate on the market (that came out to be true). Then I was told that if I "close" the refinance before a certain date, I do not have to pay the interest, which would save me a good $500-800. On top, I was promised to expect a "small gift" coming to my house right after closing. Well come closing date, the closing date gets moved with no explanation. Now the attorney is asking me as to what's going on, and I have no clue and no success at getting in contact with PMG. The closing date gets moved by a whole week, then another 3 days. At this point I knew I would have to pay the interest, and was regretting my decision to refinance. Finally, I get a call back from PMG stating the facts about my closing, with no explanation as to why they ghosted me. Come closing day, I go in to sign the papers, and sure enough at this point I owe more than $600 in interest. Mind you, my closing attorney tells me this, as PMG did not call to go over the closing statement or explain any of the charges. I was sitting at the attorneys office, calling PMG and asking about each number they put on there. What a nightmare, and embarrassment. Here's my outtake: PMG is great at finding the lowest interest rates on mortgages. In terms of paper work, it was easy. However, communication with clients needs serious improvement. Also, I would have really appreciated if they simply said, "we are sorry we delayed your closing date costing you money". Instead they went with the approach of not calling back and completely ignoring my questions. On top of all this never received a gift or even as much as a thank you note for refinancing through them. Customer service needs work. I hope this helps anyone else looking to refinance through them.
