Highly recommend for tapas and drinks!!…read more We found La Gastro on yelp since we were at a cafe close by and wanted to stop for dinner. They open at 9pm and were full for reservations but had a bar table open for the 3 of us. We got a bottle of wine and tapas that were delicious. The liquid cheese croquette was appealing and unique so we tried it. Loved it but it's very rich in flavor. The burrata was a prefect appetizer along with the flatbread we ordered. We also got the mushroom croquette which was the best we had in Madrid! The waiter was actually the bartender and he was awesome. Very friendly and gave us recs on what to order. Overall, well deserved 5 star and would recommend trying this place out! Might want to make reservations if going for dinner since it's so popular and in demand.

Got the huevo roto and the pastas bravas with cheese and bacon. Not spectacular but not bad. Potatoes seemed like they might have been frozen? The Caesar salad came with breaded fried chicken chopped up. The dressing tasted more like a ranch gone bad than Caesar dressing. Served the purpose. I would come back to try different things on the menu. Server was kind and explained some good-to-knows on the menu. No outdoor seating or parking. If you have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, feel safe eating here. I just wasn't too excited about what I ate this visit.

As a tapas place, we were thrilled to get to try multiple things, including GF drinks. Everything was amazing, so much of it was something that we have never seen GF before. Service was super fast although a little grumpy, regardless they helped us get what we wanted. We went a pretty non busy time which helped, but our orders came out very quickly.

The experience was amazing. It's a small place, cozy, classy, people dressed up and it feels like a very fancy dinner, the plates are gorgeous, and the prices are super fair. It's a smaller menu, which is how you know it will be delicious. Again, the owner helped us pick, the wine was amazing, food was all excellent, and we had a great family time. I would definitely recommend going for a date night, it's darker in there and feels like the perfect atmosphere for a successful days. Servers spoke perfect English and helped guide us with food and wine. The bread was seriously incredible - this is the stuff you'll pay $12/loaf for in LA. Arrived 15 min before opening and there was already a line. Made it in on the first seating which was great. Was asked to visit their bar first as they slowly made their way through bringing people in to the restaurant to dine. Felt pressured ot order a drink, which I didn't really want to, so I didn't like this flow of entry to bar, to restaurant. Fortunately the drinks were tasty and very theatrical. Was eventually escorted into the restaurant. Seating is like a giant oval around an open kitchen. Energy is electric, loud, stimulating. Almost feels like your dining outside in a street food alley with neon signs everywhere. The food consisted of fusion and/or modern interpretations of street food classics from across Asia, and other parts of the world too. Highlights for us included the crudo japo-mexican de salmon and chili crab concha blanda. We did find that there was a high degree of citrus and thought that the tako de pulpo was a bit too acidic. For the bun cha shawarma, the noodles were okay but the beef burger and crispy Vietnamese rolls were yummy.

The Techno music is loud so just be aware of that. I loved it and couldn't stop dancing in my seat. It is first come first serve. Regis told me to go as soon as they opened. Even then, we got one of the last seatings by the bar where all the action is. It was so much fun seeing all the chefs and sous chefs shouting and working in harmony. Our server was amazing in recommending many of the dishes and drinks. I also got a kick out of their cool straight jacket chef's attire. One word to describe the food here; it is very avant-garde (Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Singapore). Our favorite dish of the night was the Vieira Asada (scallop with a green sauce). Honestly, I don't think you will go wrong with any of the items on the menu. Love how they describe each dish as they present it to you. I also never had the bartender come by and take the time to describe the drink in great detail. Truly an amazing unique meal from start to finish. I do recommend that you get a bit dressed up. And don't forget to take a fun selfie on the leather cushion swings. 10/10 Experience

I ordered the Oxtail (Rabo de Toro) and wooooow... easily one of the most tender and delicate pieces of meat I've EVER had. They serve it boneless, but I'm pretty sure if they would have provided a bone, it would've fallen right off. The whole place gives cozy tavern vibes with a rustic interior that feels perfectly Madrid. NOTE: the portions are a bit heavier than most spots. I hate to waste food, especially when it's as immaculate as the Oxtail, but if you're a party of one, you got to do what you go to do.
