When we walked up to the stop near City Hall on Bryan St & Bull St, a few others were waiting but I couldn't find a schedule posted. However we only waited about 5 minutes before the bus arrived! Once on the bus, we enjoyed resting in the A/C, and viewing more historic buildings we hadn't yet seen as we traveled. Note, this isn't a narrated tour, but rather free & easy transpo around the historic district. As it turned out, Drayton St was closed due to the Jazz Festival in Forsyth Park, so we had to exit the bus a few blocks early. Which worked out well for us as we were a bit closer to our vaca rental. I appreciate the city's investment in this free transportation for tourists & residents. Seating seemed to be sufficient, as I saw no one needed to stand. The Dot bus was a great option to get around in Savannah!

We took both bus routes and the full loops are really quick, like 30 minutes tops. We took the bus rides just to get an inexpensive sight seeing tour of Savannah. There's no tour guide with a gift for narration, making announcements or story telling. It's just you and the opaque bus windows and the new and beautiful sites to see. Just watch your stuff and puff out your chest like your on the CTA redline, you'll be just fine. Bottom line, it's a quick way to get around and the bus stops are clearly marked.

I used rideshare, not a rental car but signage to find all the extras were easy to find - well placed signage and again - one terminal. As one who eschews chain hotels and staying in the thick of the tourist areas whenever I am…read moretraveling somewhere for more than a night, I am always looking for special places that make you feel like a local, spots where one could imagine living. I found such a place at the Galloway Inn. Sitting regally on a quiet street near Thomas Square, the Inn stands proudly with its big welcoming porch and quiet hidden garden in the back. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly greeted by Keith. He gave me some great places to eat on the neighborhood and, because it was unseasonably chilly, left me a pair of gloves and an elegant scarf to use during my stay. Staying in the loft on the 3rd floor was perfect for my needs. There was a little outdoor sitting area that I wasn't expecting - perfect for a sunny lunch - and the bed was very comfortable. Some other reviews negatively comment on the area of Savannah and as a woman traveling alone, I felt safe at night. There are some great restaurants within walking distance - Cotton & Rye, the Vault, Tacos on Bull - and I just avoided walking through Thomas Square. No one bothered me. Reserve without hesitation. If I'm ever back in Savannah, I certainly will return. Thank you Keith and Jim.

It was adorably furnished, with wi-fi and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in while traveling. You will not get accommodations of this caliber in any of the chains downtown--and with free parking, also! The furnishings and towels are of the highest caliber. Being out of the way of downtown allows the traveler to enjoy a more local's experience as there are several walkable restaurants nearby that cater more to the local crowd. As this is a privately owned inn, the owners live on-site and are especially particular. Outside guests are generally not allowed on property-I had to get special permission to invite a friend over one evening. Guests are "never to sleep on the sofas," and you are assigned a particular check-in time. These rules, while understandable, may not work for every traveler. Also, some of the walkways and accommodations are not handicapped accessible. You will want to inquire with the owners if you have any mobility concerns. Staying at the Galloway House Inn will afford you very nice accommodations in a lovely neighborhood at a great price--offset by some particularities that might not work for your situation. I found the owners to be very open about these, so it's best to ask about them before you book. Their cancellation policies are especially rigid compared to other inns in the area. For a certain traveler, Galloway House is a lovely place to stay!
