From the moment I stepped into the office I felt so welcomed by the staff. Dr. Lianne Pino and her staff do an exceptional job catering to the patient and their needs. Dr. Pino has all the high tech equipment to check vision and to see the health of the back of the eye which was something I had never checked before. This review is based on my personal experience from January 26, 2022, through May 6, 2022. As of today, May 7, 2022, I am no longer a patient of Exceptional Vision even though I was a patient for years. Therefore, my review is based on several (more than two) visits, eye glass purchase and interactions with both doctors and office staff. Although overall both doctors are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, the general office practices have a lot to be desired. This is a long review, but to be fair, I am writing my experience so that it's as accurate as possible and so that other reviewers have a fair synopsis of my experience and do not make my same mistake(s). For one, they are extremely expensive. On January 26, 2022, I went for my annual office visit mostly covered by insurance. I was told by Dr. Pino that my eye sight had "slightly"changed from last year and since my insurance covers a new pair of glasses, to go ahead and order a new pair. I agreed. After selecting a new frame based on my taste and in conjunction with the tech's suggestion, I selected a frame covered by my insurance (approximately $169.00). Although the frame was practically free, I still paid an out-of-pocket co-pay $75.00 for other services not covered by the insurance and they billed my insurance $727.00, a grand total of $802.00. However, the price/fees/payments is NOT the reason for my 1 star rating. The reason for my rating is based on their inability to correct my eye prescription and/or replace my frames after 3 months of complaints that I was not able to see clearly with my new prescription glasses. When I originally picked up my glasses shortly after the initial purchase, I expressed to the office tech (right there in person) that I was not able to read clearly. The tech gave me several reasons why this was happening and told me take the glasses and to use them. She reassured me that my eyes will "adjust" and if I had any issues to return to the office. This was my first mistake. I had confidence that she was correct. Sometime in February 2022, I called and told them that I was still having issues and by the time I went to the office in person it had been over 30 days. I did not know that there was a 30 day return policy since it is not on the receipt and I did not ask. Another mistake mistake on my part. When I went in person, I was directed to the office manager. He was polite and adjusted my frame in the back room. When he returned, I told him that I was still not able to see clearly and he then said that it was possible that my eye sight had changed from January, and that there was nothing they can do since it had been more than 30 days. I respectfully expressed my disappointment and I left the office since there was nothing I can do. A few minutes later, he called my cell phone and told me that Dr. Pino had time to re-examine my vision and that if I wanted to return she would check my vision again. I immediately returned and she confirmed that my prescription was the same since January 2022, and directed the office manager to send the frame back for different lenses. However, even after the new lenses where placed on my glasses, the issue had NOT been corrected. Again, I was told to allow my eyes to "adjust" a few weeks , and if I had any issues the next step would be to change the frame to a similar price point, which I agreed that it was fair. On May 6, 2022, I called and spoke to the office manager, and told him that the I was NOT able to see with my new glasses. Same issue since the initial purchase. He told me there was nothing they can do. He suggested that I use last year's glasses as a resolution. When I told him that I have expressed this issue since my initial pick up, he was NOT understanding and did not provide me any other options. He actually said, there is nothing we can do because it will cost us money. This is a poor excuse especially after $802.00 of total charges and payments. Bottom Line: if you cannot see and/or read CLEARLY when you pick up your new glasses, demand for them to correct the issue right away. Also inquire about their return policy. Do not make the same mistakes I made. I guess I will be using last year's glasses or using a magnifying glass until next year. read more

This was my first visit to check my vision in about 20 years. Everyone was very polite and welcoming from the moment I walked in. The Dr was very nice and she took the time to answer all my question, regardless of how silly the question might have seemed. The staff was great with helping me pick out glasses that were covered by my insurance with little out of pocket for me. My glasses were ready within a week. It's sad always worrying about getting ripped-off .. Took my (expensive) frames back to this business for repair.. They gave a call back cost of $175.00 for a :15 sec repair. I questioned them as to the price, they confirmed again $175.00 cost. I decided to take my frames to one of their competitor's a couple of blocks away. The actual cost (parts & labor) $35.00, took :15 seconds to repair, no waiting, very professional, polite, with a thank you.. What a difference.. I definitely don't recommend this company. read more

Scheduled the appointment online, immediately got a reply that someone would contact us; next morning we got a call to verify everything. They also emailed the new patient forms so we can fill them out and have them ready (save time). When we got there the building looked old, but when you open the door is another world. The office is beautiful and clean, nice to the eyes :). Loved the way everyone had a smile and they took the time to answer all the questions. Dr. Pino was very nice, always smiling, explained everything and took the time to answer my questions. She even explained things about my allergies and how my eyes are affected. I got prescription drops for the allergies. The selection of glasses is great, I would just maybe have a couple of lower price brands as it come to be expensive when you are doing this for more than 1 person from your family (my husband and I spend quite a bit in 4 pairs - prescription sun glasses and regular glasses). I visited Exceptional Vision for the first time yesterday for an eye exam. I had previously been going to a large vision chain store's doctor of optometry, but did not feel the exams there were comprehensive. From the moment I arrived until I walked out the door. From the ease of scheduling the appointment, to the vision exam and visit to their optical department, the staff took their time with me. Dr. Etten provided a comprehensive exam and took the time to explain the various results as well as my care options which were customized to my career and leisure needs. The exam cost a bit more than I was previously paying at the chain store, but you get what you pay for. After all, you don't want play with your vision, do you? I feel that I was getting the best vision care available and didn't feel as if I were being herded through stall to stall as with the chain store doctors. I will definitely be returning to Exceptional Vision for all of my vision needs and for those of my family. read more

I cannot say enough about this office.. amazing does not do it justice! Incredible service, friendly staff, fast! My husband had a piece of metal in his eye.. I called Saturday morning and they were able to see us within the hour as a walk in. We were seen immediately after arriving. Dr. Etten was thorough and efficient. He removed the embedded piece of metal gently and pain free. He took his time to explain meds, recovery, and any other questions we had in a very empathetic way. Tasteful practice located in one of those typical South Florida medical office buildings that are rather bland on the outside but you never know what you will get in the middle. They were able to get my contact prescriptions accurate after only a couple visits with trial pairs. I have to get toric lenses on both eyes and a rather strong prescription in my left eye. Most places I have been has required several repeat visits to get it right. The appointments have always been on time, efficient and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. I always pay more than what I would like because of my difficult prescriptions but this practice seems to run many specials and offers discounts. Check out their website for current ones.
