I chose Dr. Timothy Lee as my pcp and also see NP Michelle Patterson regularly for wellness checks. I also saw Dr. Jillian Noyes once when the others were not available for a last minute rush appointment. I've been so happy with every member of the health care team who has treated me. I feel like the team spends more time with patients than at my previous practice. Bloodwork, prescription refills, referrals to specialists, follow up...it's all done quickly. The staff is friendly, the offices are clean and fresh, and it's all a nice place to go. It never feels hectic. And of course, the app makes it easy to schedule appointments. I'm very glad I made the move. I have neighbors who see other health care practitioners at this office and are equally happy with their care.

And I"m very fussy about health care (I'm from Boston, what can I say--it's the best city in the US for health care!) The one item I was hesitant about--it's a common problem in the DC metro area--is you won't get an MD, you'll be seen by a Physician's Assistant. But--I lost my primary care MD 5 years ago, so started calling practices, GW MFA, etc., a year ago to find a new MD. Forget about it. I started calling again recently, hoping there were doctors available. Nope. There is NOTHING out there--I had estimates of waiting times of several MONTHS for an appointment with an MD. No one offered an appointment with an NP or a PA. A few places wouldn't even put me on for a wait list appointment! It's dire. I had no choice but to sign up at One Medical, which btw was recommended by two friends with high standards for doctors. There is another potential issue, that it's only general practice, no specialists. But they do a lot of the requisite tests, blood tests, etc. I already have my specialists, so it's not a problem for me. And my PA is excellent. She is pretty young, but very well trained, very smart, and responsive. And you can tell she likes her job! More good things about Farragut Square OneMed. I"ve been several times since joining a few months ago, and I've NEVER had a wait. The front desk folks, the techs, the medical professionals? All excellent, very personable, and polite. What a change from some other DC medical practices! They take insurance--and if you're not insured, they will figure it out. Also, they are so tech forward, everything is very easy to accomplish, and not stressful. No waiting on hold! Again, what a change. Anyway, if you need a primary care MD, and can't find anyone, give one of these practices a try. If you don't like them, you can leave.

Now to book a physical with my doctor, I needed to book 5 weeks out. To get an appointment for an illness, the next available on the app is over a week from now. A more traditional doctor, I could call and ask to be seen same day. But no one answers messages on the app anymore. I'm trying to switch practices but no one will answer me through the app how to cancel my membership. If you are looking for premium care and service, this is definitely not it anymore. PS: do yourself a favor and sort the comments by "newest first" -- you can pinpoint exactly when things went downhill. All the positive reviews are over a year old.

But time and time again, I get concerned about the abilities of their physicians. I've have doctors just get things wrong, never anything too serious, but where I'll just go to a specialist myself. Or where a doctor will (shockingly) say something different than what the medical field (and myself) mainly agree on (menstrual cycles). I'm definitely not an arm-chair doctor, and will mostly relinquish decision-making of treatment plans to the experts, which is why I'm so conflicted. I don't think it's a One Medical hires doctors thing, but a group of doctors uses One Medical services thing. So my recommendation would then be, I think the physicians would benefit from gaining a few more medical-life experiences and diverse settings. In college there was a joke about how the student health center always thought you were either pregnant or had mono, those were your only two options. One Medical is kinda like that. They're limited to their base (yuppies), so if/when you require a little more care for your health, it's frustrating. Otherwise, it's very convenient.

My guess is probably limited because it's Chevy Chase and they wanted a place with parking. Connecticut Ave can be...difficult, and this office is not near a metro. The parking in the back can also get crowded, and could be cheaper. So ultimately I deduct one star because it could have been a little more accessible, even to patients with cars. But the staff (especially the lab staff) is excellent and you can expect a similar experience as other offices.

No rushing, they take their time to make sure your issues are addressed. Today I had an issue with a sore throat and fever. I went on line and had an appointment time that was two hours away. When I got there I was checked in in under 30 seconds. The doctor took me back within five minutes and she listened to my issue, examined me, took some tests and determined what was wrong. Dr. Guansing spent about 20 minutes with me, no rushing, figured out the issue and sent me on my way. My experiences with One Medical are always like this and it was the same at the Bethesda and Pike and Rose facilities also.

The PCP I saw had excellent bedside manner and was very thorough. I have no complaints about the doctor or the medical care I received. However, I would not recommend the staff member who was drawing blood in the morning. Before we started, I specifically explained that I am not good with needles and that my veins can be difficult to find. I asked for someone experienced with difficult blood draws so the process could be done with as few complications as possible. Unfortunately, she was unable to locate my vein. She inserted the needle where the vein was not and then attempted to reposition the needle under my skin to find it. It felt like a blindfolded dart competition. I immediately asked her to stop and politely requested another person to draw my blood. I was told there was no one else available at that time. I returned the following morning hoping someone different would be available, but the same person was there, and I was told no one else would be available until 10 a.m. I understand that difficult blood draws happen, and I don't expect every attempt to be perfect. But when a patient specifically communicates that they have difficult veins and anxiety around needles, I believe that concern should be taken seriously and an experienced person should be available when possible. I'm sharing this because I would not want someone else who has difficulty with blood draws to have the same experience. The office and PCP were excellent. My concern is specifically with the blood-draw experience and morning staffing.
