When I saw the doctor, I explained my symptoms, but from the start, I felt like my concerns were being dismissed. He made a comment that high blood pressure is "better than low," which didn't feel reassuring given why I was there. He told me the plan was to do blood work, an EKG, and give me another dose of my blood pressure medication. I had my blood drawn and waited, expecting to be called back for the EKG. Instead, the doctor later came to tell me that my "EKG and blood work" were normal. I had to point out that I never actually received an EKG. He responded that he must have been thinking of another patient, which was concerning in itself. He then said he didn't think an EKG was necessary anymore, even though it had been part of the original plan. He recommended that I start taking my blood pressure medication twice a day and discharged me. This left me feeling confused and uneasy. After doing some research the next day, I learned that I am already on the maximum recommended dose of that medication, and increasing it is not typically advised. Overall, I left feeling that my concerns weren't taken seriously and that the care I received lacked attention to detail.

While not perfect, I appreciated the care from my doctor and Q, and overall I prefer Honor Health over Banner Ocotillo. I delivered my first baby at Honor Health, and I regret choosing banner ocotillo hospital for my second baby. I was told by a few Sun Life doctors that it would be great, but my experience was far from that. * Meals for my partner: My significant other stayed with me through my entire labor and delivery, yet he had to pay $8 per meal. At Honor Health hospitals, meals are provided free for fathers who stay during delivery. * Nursing staff turnover: Every day brought a new nurse, which made it hard to feel supported or build trust. One nurse, Rachel, came across as shallow and argumentative, especially about what I could or couldn't take home. Even basic items like disposable postpartum underwear became a debate. * Supplies: We were given very few take-home items compared to other hospitals. * Atmosphere: Unlike other hospitals that celebrate births with a lullaby, Banner Ocotillo doesn't do this, which made the experience feel less special. * Medical oversight: After receiving my epidural, staff forgot to insert a catheter. As a result, I did not urinate for four hours straight On a positive note, my delivering doctor Schmidt and Q were amazing -- they provided excellent care. Unfortunately, the overall environment and policies left me feeling frustrated and undervalued. I would not recommend Banner Ocotillo for labor and delivery.

A nurse came out and checked on my mom immediately to assess the level of trauma. Within 15 minutes of arriving they were escorting my mom to get a CT. Once she was placed in a bay someone came out and got me. The doctor came in a few minutes later, advised her CT was clear and explained she would need multiple stitches. After finishing he was trying to clean the blood out of her hair, it was literally the sweetest thing I had ever seen a doctor do. This was a very traumatic experience for my mom (and me) they treated her like a queen, kept her (us) calm and made it as pleasant as possible.

Spent 3 hours waiting for a technician from across the valley to show up to operate the Ultrasound machine to rule out blood clot after a flight since my knee was showing signs of a lot more swelling with red color and bruising that wasn't there previous to flight. Doctor looks at my leg and says "yeah, I'm not even gonna touch it, you need an MRI." He then writes me a prescription for the pain. Spend ALL DAY on the phone with the pharmacy AND the doctors office trying to figure out why my prescription isn't being sent/received. Both parties are blaming the other and almost refusing to just pick up the phone and speak to each other directly so they use me as the middle man. Spoke with both sides no less than 6 times each for it to ultimately turn into "it's not our fault, it's theirs and we aren't sending the prescription again." I call the doctors office one final time to just figure out what my next steps are and whoever this guy is says "well, just ice and take ibuprofen. All you did was sprain it." I responded with "how is that your diagnoses? There's not been any MRI's yet right?" And this guy says "well the results are pretty conclusive." WHAT RESULTS ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?? The ones where the doctors says yeah, I'm not even going to touch it and then prescribes me Oxycodone?! If his reaction was to leave it alone and prescribe a Percocet wouldn't common sense dictate we're probably dealing with more than a sprain? In conclusion, instead of rectifying the situation they "offered" to refer me to another ER facility (which I would most definitely pay another $630 visit fee). That way they could be done with the whole problem. I never got my prescription nor any pain relief of any other kind. Play that call back Dignity Health and confidently tell me that's what you want to see take place when it comes to customer service. This location is a clown show, look elsewhere for medical assistance.

The reviews are misleading... Before my son was born, I went through and read a lot of reviews from…read moredifferent hospitals and was nervous about going to Banner Desert - where my OB delivered. I could not have had a more dramatically different experience than what I saw in the reviews - it's safe to say that the management has heard your concerns! We came in at 9:30pm to a very full labor and delivery floor - cancelled the inductions for the day & a woman had been waiting for a delivery room for 7 hours longer than me... Things were not looking too promising. The nurse in triage, Kristy (I hope I'm spelling that right) moved MOUNTAINS for us. She continuously let us know what was going on on the floor and how my labor was progressing. When there was no delivery room available and the nurses were literally spread to their max, she found a way for us to get to a room to help alleviate my pain and welcome my son into the world. I have never felt more looked after than I did with her. Following that, the postpartum ward was delightful! The team that works in there is extremely respectful and caring. Food wise, pretty good! Not the typical icky hospital food that you hear about! If you get the chocolate chip cookie, put it next to a piece of bread for a little bit and it isn't as dry & oh so much more yummy! I hope & pray that everyone gets to have my experience! Even the OB who was on call... I don't know if I would have remotely the same delivery experience if it wasn't for him & his gentle encouragement throughout - you are the best Dr. Canestraro!

Banner Desert Hospital in Mesa Arizona failed my father in every possible way during what would be…read morethe last weeks of his life. My father was admitted on April 16th 2026 with a confirmed cancer diagnosis that had already been documented in his medical records. He sat in that hospital for five days before a single oncologist walked through his door. Five days. When the oncologist finally came on April 21st it was the first time my father had ever seen an oncologist in his entire life. And it happened on the day they were trying to discharge him. The discharge paperwork they tried to send him home with was factually inaccurate. His CT scan performed right there in that building showed possible pancreatitis, bowel wall thickening, gallstones, aggressive malignant ascites, severely elevated bilirubin of 12.80, and compromised kidney function. None of it was on his discharge papers. They listed cirrhosis and noted he should get a blood test to check for liver cancer. He already had confirmed liver cancer. That is not a clerical error. That is negligence. They tried to discharge my father for three to four days before we even had a chance to arrange proper care elsewhere. When we finally had an appointment at City of Hope they discharged him to a hotel because they refused to transfer him directly to the cancer center the way it should have been done for a critically ill cancer patient. When I advocated for my father and asked questions about his care and his inaccurate discharge paperwork they called security on me. Twice. I was not threatening anyone. I was a daughter fighting for her dying father. That is what they called security for. Nurses Kelsey and Ashley were dismissive, cold, and treated my father without dignity or compassion. They did not do their jobs and their lack of care was witnessed by our entire family. The one exception was nurse Merisol who treated my father with the kindness, warmth, and professionalism that every patient deserves. She was the only bright light in an otherwise disgraceful experience. My father came home after leaving this facility and passed away shortly after. He deserved so much better. Every patient who walks through those doors deserves so much better. If the people running this hospital ever have to admit their own parents here I hope they receive the exact same level of care that my father received. Maybe then they will understand what they put our family through. Do not come here unless you have no other choice. And if you do end up here ask for Merisol and pray she is your nurse. This hospital is under investigation and I am pursuing every legal avenue available to me.
