I had never done any difficult kind of dance before but my friend had told me not to worry and that it takes time to learn... This was a horrible experience for me, I literally cried after the class. We all did a group practice and I was completely lost 3/4 of the way through because the teacher didn't explain anything, some other girls were lost as well, so I know it wasn't just me. After the group practice (which I finally started to understand through repetitiveness) she had us go one by one and do some sort of running jump (I'm sure there is a name for it, I just don't know it) and all the girls did great of course but seeing as how I had no clue how to do it I just jumped a little and went back in line and as I did so the teacher was literally screaming at me to not give up and that I couldn't be in her class if I gave up... She could've tried to teach me how to do it correctly but no, she wanted to just scream at me. I know dance teachers are very strict and expect the best but she knew I was new and I kind of expected her to actually teach. I will never go there again, I don't like being yelled at for no reason.

We had my ballet dance part taken away for going on a educational trip instead of missing school and going to dance. I was in class trying to learn and they denied me my right to perform because I still didn't fully understand after ask for help all semester. I still have 2weeks of practice left. I was told by owner if practice and proved I knew my dance well enough I could perform. She told my mom I wasn't allowed. (Mom)My child has stated several times she didn't understand and no one would help her. When I asked the owner today 4/23 why she couldn't perform she immediately got aggressive and confrontational and I have more than 1 witness to this. I tried to leave and she kept demanding to confront my autistic language impaired daughter. I'm disgusted with how they treat families with disabilities.

This is it. This is exactly where you want to be to chase your fitness goals…read more The owner Carrieann, not only equipped the facility with everything you need to do so, but she also makes you feel like part of the family when you are in the gym. She makes it a personal experience that no big club, gym, or corporation can replicate. The membership is very reasonable for not only what's included in the facility but the environment of it and with 24 hour access; the accessibility of which you can do so. It's also very conveniently located between Wasilla and Palmer. This might not be a gym with everything you personally believe you need. It may not be a gym with the newest equipment. It may not have any leisure sports, activities, or clubs included. But it does have personality. It does have great ownership. It does have great community. It does have necessities. It does have motivated members. It does have personal time management utilization. No other gym in the valley, let alone Anchorage compares. There is only one gym where you can walk in at anytime, be called by name without checking a card or ID, have access to a variety of great equipment, not pay a crazy amount for access, and be motivated and have everything you need to chase your fitness goals. This is it.

My son who is now 12 has been attending Chung's for the past 6 years and is now a junior black belt…read more(1st Dan). I took classes for about 6 months when he first started but then I changed jobs and got too busy to continue - I only made it to green belt. Master Ron and his family that run the school are friendly and honest about their expectations. Master Ron expects everybody to hold to the tenets of Tae Kwon Do: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit. During one of our first classes, Master Ron had to discipline my son for goofing off during class. He did raise his voice and got right in my son's face about it. Later, during the same class when my son got something right, Master Ron put his arm around him and told him that he was now doing a good job. He is just as quick to praise good behavior, as he is to discipline for bad. Which is exactly what our son needed at the time. If you (or your child) cannot handle honest criticism and hard work to become a better person and athlete, then maybe Chung's is not for you. Chung's Tae Kwon Do Institute has expanded and moved several times over the years (we started attending class at Master Ron's house in his basement), but in their latest location they do have a CCTV system set up for parents to watch class from the waiting room/reception area. Master Ron has always allowed parents to observe classes whenever they choose since we started there. The Dojang (school) is always clean and orderly, and students are required to keep their Dobok (uniform) clean and wear it correctly (not sloppy, belt tied correctly, etc.) Master Ron makes sure all the sparring gear and other equipment is in good repair and sanitized after each use. Granted, this is the only Dojang my son and I have attended, but considering that when we started Master Ron only had a handful of students meeting in his basement and now he has multiple classes every night of the week, each one filling the Dojang, I think he must be doing something right.
