This last was especially bad as they would go hours without being changed. Many of the staff were nice to us, but nasty when we weren't there. Ultimately, we believe that the facility sabotaged our choice of assisted living by not letting them actually meet with my relative, just telling them negative comments in order to keep them. It was a relief to get them out of there. The actual facility itself is all right and PT was good. Everything else was wanting...and how does food even GET that bad?

Some of her personal belongings, including clothing and shoes, were misplaced and later had to be reimbursed after several months of follow-up. During one visit, I found her alone in her room in soiled clothing without water available. On another occasion, her meal tray was delivered and placed on a table without assistance, even though she required help eating. In addition to the care concerns, we experienced significant delays and challenges resolving reimbursement for the lost items. We were also billed for prescriptions that our family does not recall authorizing, and we are still working through pharmacy billing questions. Based on our experience, the facility appeared to be understaffed, and communication and follow-through with management were difficult. I encourage families considering this facility to ask detailed questions about staffing levels, care protocols, and billing processes.

The ambulance people had to wait while they actually made the bed she was admitted to. TWO HOURS later, sick as a dog...not a SINGLE Nurse, CNA or staff member had been to see her. TWO HOURS she sat sick, and alone. We had to physically go confront them at 9:00PM to get staff to her. They took Her a sandwich. They did not change her out of her hospital gown- they did no medical care and did not even administer ANY of her meds that night nor the next morning.. NUMEROUS calls by numerous concerned family we're unanswered, and not one single call back. By the next morning my elderly mother was begging us to get her out of there and we called to let them know we were coming to remove her to please make the necessary arrangements. Once again FOUR hours worth of phone calls were unanswered and not a single call back. We literally had to show up at the place and threaten to call the sheriff. Unfortunately once we were able to get her out of the place we had to contact them to get an order for home health care which is where we brought her and the administrator of the facility told our Home Care Case Manager they C OULD write the order but THEY would NOT. Even after denying her basic medical/human care they refused to assist my mother in getting HOME HEALTH CARE! They said they COULD but they WOULDN'T.

Ms. Jennifer, one of their OT therapists, uses toys, fun games, physical activity, dancing, music and writing to work on what my child needs. She is very thorough with parents, giving you a breakdown of what they worked on during the session. She usually leaves you with some sort of "homework" to complete before the next session. When we were seeking a tutor for one our children, she had a great recommendation for someone that would mesh with my child's needs. We started speech therapy here when the school district could not work with our daycare/work schedule to provide speech services. Ms. Lindsay has been very personable and made a great connection to my child. She breaks speech sounds down in a way that my preschooler (and me) understands. Just like Ms. Jennifer, she communicates what they worked on after each session. She also provides games to play during the week to reinforce skills. My family, and kids, have absolutely loved all the therapists we've worked with at Family First. If you are seeking speech or OT services, give them a try.

This place needs to be shut down!! Do not send anyone you love or care for at all to this horrible…read moreplace. They do not care at all about the patients or their families. Their only purpose is to milk as much money as possible from the system, and they do not care who they hurt doing it. My father, who has advanced dementia, was there a few times. The 1st time, he was rushed to the hospital from there, and within hours, they threw away all his belongings, including his eyeglasses and gifts given to him by family, just so they could quickly fill the bed with a fresh body and a steady stream of fresh money. When he was released from the hospital, he went back. This time, they asked me if I wanted to switch his health insurance to what they felt had better coverage, and I said no. Since I had power of attorney, I assumed that was the end of it. I find out, once a few of his doctors refused to see him because of no insurance coverage, that they went ahead and changed it anyway. According to their Executive Director, Shelva Burns, they feel it is completely appropriate to ask a patient with dementia, who doesn't even know where he is, if they can change his insurance even after the designated power of attorney says no. They were even able to coerce him into signing a consent, since he is usually pretty trusting even when he doesn't understand what is happening. It turns out, they only thing better about the coverage they changed him to is how much they pay out to money farms like this place. By the way, replacement for the eyeglasses mentioned above are not covered by his new insurance that doesn't have vision coverage, and neither was his next hospital stay, or the next facility he ended up at. After another brief stay at the hospital, they go ahead and call an acquaintance of his to get permission to bring him back there, without ever asking me, who once again, has power of attorney over his medical and financial decisions. They did this because they knew I would say no due to the complaints I already made about the previous issues. Now I guess we can add HIPAA violations to their many shady practices. The place is just generally shady and severely dishonest, and after a discussion about these issues with Executive Director Sheva Burns, it is overly apparent that these shady practices are just part of their normal business operations.

Then I explained that I was two and a half hours north of them and I had found a small clinic just 5 minutes from my house, as the treatment I needed would have required two treatments a day for six weeks. Suddenly, the tone changed, as did their body language. They told me if I went to the local clinic I was risking my life and would more then likely have a far less chance of recovering. Like they had a magic treatment of some sort. They tried their best to scare the hell out of me in plain English. While in fact I had noted the radiation machine they had and compared it to my local clinics. They had the very same machine and plan as my local clinic right in Lecanto Fl. I completed my 6 weeks of treatment and while it was rough, it did in fact help me. it's been 7 years. I would not recommend Moffitt at all for any type of cancer treatment. They didn't care about me or my situation. All they cared about was their numbers and studies. I love my Doctor. Dr Joey Bennitt. they did a great job and saved my life. If you get diagnosed with cancer, take a minute to really think about what will be the easiest for you and your family. these small clinics are a lot more personal and you see the same people every day during your treatment, while at Moffitt you never see the same people twice and they seem to be taking advantage of your diagnoses and will use it to their advantage to have you open your check book and say do what ever it takes. Truthfully, all the treatment facilities are the same and will do the exact same thing to help you. Don't fall for their scam. 7 years doing fine!
