Everyone said the service is great. Quick and efficient they said. Well I'm here and I've been waiting over an hour.

I had to leave work due to numbness in my feet only after standing for 10 minutes straight. I have had this issue for months and it keeps getting worse. I believe it's nerve problems caused by an underlying condition, they did not seem to care. They said a MRI is what I need but they won't give me one even though they are also an imaging facility so they should have machines to give me one. They seemed disappointed that I didn't have pain due to an injury recently although they could tell I was in pain. The workers got annoyed when I asked questions about what I was getting done and when I listed more problems that I was having. They kept pushing it off saying " it seems like sciatica nerve pain and there is nothing we can do here". Which I find ridiculous, they could have ordered more scans for me so they could find why it's getting worse especially since it's been going on for 6-7 months. They gave me three pills , a lidocaine patch , and a shot which all barely helped. I do not recommend going here at all.

Covid and flu came back negative so the doctor (Dr. Ghuman) who never even personally examined me (never even came closer than the door frame of the room actually) said "hunny you just have a cold" and sent me home with nsaids. I had specifically told them I can't take NSAIDs. I was too sick to realize that's what they gave me and I'm still dealing with bloody vomit and a burning stomach from the single dose of ibuprofen they gave me. The nurse told me before I left if my fever came back at all to come back in. She was very helpful and kind. The next day I saw my regular doctor and they told I actually have a bacterial infection. I called the er, told them I have more than a cold and my fever was back up. Should I come in if it gets out of hand during the night? Whoever I spoke to seemed offended I got another opinion and said no, your fever is fine where it's at, you need to tough it out, and cut the call short.

I came in by ambulance because of an acute attack of diverticulitis by ambulance. No rooms were available so I was placed on a very comfortable gurney in the hall. The entrance is about 100/150 feet away and today it is 53 degrees. Whenever that door opens a rush of very cold air comes in and adds to an already cold hallway. If they need to put people in the hall don't do it on the entrance path. I was in the hallway approximately 3 hours but my nurse made sure I had a blanket. The CAT scan tech was great too. My suggestion is add on more rooms this is Florida where we old people go to die but not by pneumonia.

Her internal bleeding went undiagnosed for about eight hours despite glaring signs. Once imaging was finally ordered and active internal bleeding was confirmed, surgery was delayed for roughly seven more hours. In the meantime, the doctor ordered mass blood transfusion in an improper way that worsened her condition instead of stabilizing her, while failing to move the central line that was improperly placed and that the radiologist recommended be repositioned. HCA Healthcare has faced no consequences, and there is no way for people researching physicians through the Florida Department of Health (DOH), the medical licensing board, to see what happened to my daughter. Because she was 25, unmarried, and had no children, Florida's 'Free Kill' law strategically blocked me from pursuing legal recourse to ensure the hospital and its physicians are held accountable so the harm does not continue. St. Joseph's Hospital North ER - 04 February 2026…read more I am writing this review not only as a recent patient, but as a retired U.S. Army Special Forces Medic and former nationally registered paramedic. I have spent a lifetime in emergency medicine. The care I received in this emergency department was, without question, the worst I have personally experienced or witnessed in my professional career. On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, my wife brought me to the ER at St. Joseph's Hospital North in Lutz after I developed severe shortness of breath during a return flight from Wyoming. I had contracted influenza during travel, and by the time we landed, I was experiencing significant respiratory distress, fever, chills, and rigors. We arrived around 5:45 PM. There were only two other patients in the ER at that time, neither appearing to be in acute distress. Check-in was disorganized, as staff were unable to locate my long-standing records despite years of prior care at this facility. Over the next hour, the ER filled with additional patients, yet I observed multiple individuals who arrived after me being triaged ahead of me, despite my visible respiratory compromise. As someone trained in emergency triage, this was difficult to understand. I was eventually sent for a chest X-ray and asked to undress in a cold room while actively shaking with fever and chills. There was no effort to ensure patient comfort during the process. After nearly two hours, I was placed in a treatment room. I waited more than 30 minutes before a nurse briefly entered, did not clearly identify herself or her role, took vitals, drew blood without explanation, and left stating the physician would be in shortly. The room was extremely cold. Despite obvious rigors, no blanket was provided. My wife had to remove her own jacket to place over me. A request to the nurses' station for blankets went unanswered for an extended period. When the physician finally arrived, I was asked to repeat my history. A minimal exam was performed. After he left, I could clearly hear loud, social, and unprofessional behavior from the nurses' station area. Following a shift change, a second nurse entered. After another request for blankets, one was eventually brought -- and handed to my wife without instruction or courtesy. There was no communication about the plan of care, anticipated timeline, or findings. After approximately six hours in the ER, I was diagnosed with Influenza A and discharged with prescriptions for Tamiflu, benzonatate, and albuterol. Discharge was abrupt. IV removal was rushed. EKG leads and monitoring equipment were partially left for us to remove ourselves. No discharge education was provided beyond stating prescriptions would be called in. There was no closing interaction such as, "We hope you feel better." We left shortly after midnight and had to obtain a hotel due to the late hour and my condition. In more than three decades in emergency medicine, I have never experienced such a lack of empathy, communication, professionalism, and basic patient comfort. Emergency departments are busy environments -- I understand that better than most -- but patient dignity and compassion should never be optional. This was my last visit to St. Joseph's Hospital North and to a BayCare facility. In two words: profoundly disappointing.

St. Joseph's Hospital - North is located just a bit north of Tampa by Cheval and Lutz, respectively. The hospital is situated at the critical crossroad of Dale Mabry and the 589 Veterans Expressway-Suncoast Parkway/568 off-shoot. This makes it easily accessible from various areas, whilst being fairly free of the Tampa Bay congestion. Parking here is fairly simple, as the lot is rather vast, while the signs make navigating the campus rather intuitive. When it comes to security, the team does a rather spectacular job to ensure that safety and protection of their patients and employees. With both the sheriff departments and security contractors on site, there is very little to worry about. I was directed to self-admit to St. Joseph's Hospital - North after incurring an injury during a work trip. After returning to Tampa, I was able to drive myself to this location with ease. As I entered the ER, I was screened by the security and welcomed by the friendly staff of the ER. The ER area and department was very clean and well maintained. The process of getting admitted was rather smooth, and it wasn't long before a nurse came to take my vitals and enter me into the triage process. I wasn't dying, so I understand the length of time it took before a doctor came to address my injuries. When a doctor did come, she was extremely pleasant and thorough. She provided a preliminary diagnosis and ordered some imaging. The technician was also an expert in her craft, which made the overall experience at the hospital worthy of mention. Great team of professionals to take care of your medical needs and concerns!

What really stood out was how well everyone worked together as a team when things got hectic. You could tell they genuinely care about their patients and about supporting each other, and that made a huge difference in my experience. On top of all that, the facility is extremely clean, which always makes me feel even more comfortable and confident in the care I'm receiving. But sometimes, there are mixups. For whatever reason my HSA card wasn't working. I couldn't get a hold of anyone over the phone, so I had to leave with no help. I'd already had a bad migraine for 2 days. This did not help. I'd been there multiple times recently and had no issues with payment. But getting billed was not an option, so zero medical attention for me. I guess it's really not urgent "care." It's more urgent payments, then see what happens. I suppose it's not the biggest deal in the world, but it's very unpleasant when you're already not feeling well. There were other small issues, but nothing as disappointing as today bad experiences.

My child was seen by Brittany Ortiz, NP, on January 31st, and the lack of professionalism and medical accuracy was deeply concerning. Hygiene Issues: I had to personally ask the NP to put on gloves before she touched my child's open wound--a basic safety protocol that should never be overlooked. Medical Negligence: My child was prescribed respiratory medication for a skin condition. Because of this incorrect treatment, the condition worsened, leading us to the Emergency Room the next day. ER Intervention: The ER physician confirmed the original prescription would never have worked for my child's issue. They immediately started the correct treatment. Misinformation: I was told a recommended soap was "online only," yet I found it on local store shelves immediately after the appointment. As a parent, I trusted this clinic, but the care we received was unacceptable. Please be cautious if your child is scheduled with this provider.
