God Help You...They Certainly Won't!
The worst online shopping experience EVER. I ordered the L'Innocence Holy Water font for $50. It was defective. The paint blistered and broke inside the water cup, making it unusable. Customer service was good about sending a replacement after I sent the original back, but the second one did exactly the same thing. They have a 30 day return/refund policy, but by this time it was beyond that, and because this was defective workmanship on an item they now knew to have quality issues I felt justified in asking them to help out, as I did not expect to be replacing expensive fonts over such a short period. They refused, even with a picture of the problem, so I asked for the distributor's number (Goldscheider of Vienna) to inform them so they could contact the factory about quality control problems and possibly send another. T** of Goldscheider's was rude and insulting, asking me insane things like "What kind of water did you put in it?" and said "I've sold thousands of these and this has never happened before". Tough. There's a first for everything, most people do not know enough to call you, and the customer must always be wrong, because he refused to assist in any way.
Back to EWTN Religious Catalogue. I again got nowhere and so, in desperation, asked the operator for someone else, hoping for a resolution, and was directed to a Ms. EGP in viewer services. We discussed everything and she offered a replacement of a St. Michael font in cold cast bronze which I initially agreed to hoping it would not bubble, but had to call back and refuse. I researched the item further and found it was a wall unit that was not stand alone, and so would not work as I wanted something beautiful for my table. Since a suitable replacement was not available, I regrettably had to ask for my money back. Now it gets REALLY bad.
She must have contacted a male representative in customer service who called me on 3/20/18 stating checks were cut on 3/25, and I should receive my $50 refund in a week (I offered to send it back with a prepaid label and was told no, either to keep or discard). I waited until 4/12 and left a message on EGP's voicemail to say I had not received the check and please call me. Crickets until 4/18 when I finally got ahold of her, and a verbal altercation ensued. You would not think I was talking to the same person. Not only was the promised refund reneged and "the person who called may be disciplined" but nasty things were said like "It's just a Holy Water font" and "I'll pray for you to get past this". EXCUSE ME??? NEVER advertise yourselves as having a Religious Catalogue if that is the way you feel about the items you sell, which many regard as sacred expressions of Faith and "not just" a piece of junk. And NEVER use prayer in a sacreligious manner and as a weapon to insult an innocent person believing what a "Catholic" organization PROMISED.
"In order to make me happy" she offered me the $50 out of her personal funds which I accepted and she said it was going in the mail that day (4/18). I waited. Nothing. Now I am distraught and had my sister on the phone as a witness when I phoned in AGAIN on 4/24 for EGP .... I had to have the operator get her on the line. Again I got "the check is in the mail" routine and waited until the 30th. I had enough, and contacted the credit card company to open a dispute. The agents I spoke to there were in disbelief and extremely sympathethic to my situation, so ironic that a SECULAR bank treated me with more kindness than a "Catholic" entity.
I finally received a $50 money order from EGP on 5/3, and "will get over it" when the monies have cleared the bank and are safely in my account. The dispute will not be closed before then, and I have asked the credit card company to make a notation regarding EWTN for bad business practices. An employee having to personally offer their own money to try and right their wrongdoing is an outrage! Hopefully this case will set a precedent in order to help others. EWTN, you disgust me by disgracing Mother Angelica's memory. Would Mother have done this, you pit of vipers? Pray for yourselves, if you still believe in it, that is. read more
