I have been a patient of Dr. Ewing for almost 38 years. She has offered me superior skills and her knowledge is world-class. At 20 years of age, Dr. Ewing was able to diagnose, treat, and solve the many challenges I had throughout the years. Her office staff was always so kind and courteous to me upon every visit. I visited Dr. Ewing for the first time today. All I can say is "wow" - I'm not sure where the bad reviews came from, although I do see they were from a few years ago. My experience was wonderful with every single person in the office (and I dealt with 4 different people). When I made my appointment, I was told that as a new patient the first appointment would probably last about 2 hours. But if I wanted to go online and fill in my medical history, it would shorten it by about 30 minutes (so I gladly did this). When I got to the office, I was greeting very warmly by Eileen, the receptionist. I had about 5 minutes of paperwork to do. I then only waited about 5 minutes before I was taken back for vitals. Then I went directly into a room, where Nina reviewed the information I had submitted online and asked a few more questions. She then explained the best way to contact her if needed in the future. From the time we finished, it was only about another 5 minutes before Dr. Ewing came in. She was EXTREMELY nice. She asked some additional questions related to why I was seeing her today and some more about my general health background. Her examination was thorough but gentle. Because I haven't had my annual mammogram this year, she went ahead and did a breast exam today, which was actually better than I ever received from my previous doctor. There is a LabCorp person who works right in the office, so I was able to do some bloodwork right there at the end of my appointment. All in all, I was there for exactly one hour, and it was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this Dr. and her staff!! read more

No, no, no, no, NO. So, I've been waffling back and forth on whether I was going to write a review of this particular place. With restaurants, etc. I have NO problem gushing about a place (or tearing it apart, for that matter!). But with physicians? I always hesitate. Maybe it's because I feel a closer connection with my doctor. But after today's horrid appointment, I knew I had to say something. Anything. So to Yelp I went. I had a well-woman appointment with Dr. Ewing today. My appointment was at 3:00pm. Like a good patient, I showed up 15 minutes early. The receptionist was friendly and handed me all of the necessary paperwork to fill out. I thought that was weird, since I was a current patient, but maybe that was necessary since I only visit once a year. I fill out the paperwork, and hand it back to the receptionist. I look at the clock. 2:55. Okay, cool. I play around on my phone a bit, I read a magazine. I look back up at the clock. 3:15. Hmm. Whatever, I'm used to waiting at a doctor's office a little bit past my appointment time. A nurse's aide finally comes into the waiting room to retrieve me. 3:20pm. Sigh. She does the usual blood pressure, weight check, etc. And places me in the room. Tells me the doctor will be right with me. I change into the stupid scratchy paper dress that EVERY woman hates, and I sat. And sat. And sat some more. FORTY FIVE MINUTES LATER, Dr. Ewing strolls in. No apology, no explanation, NOTHING. She uh...gets to business. I'll keep the gory details to myself. Besides my annual well-woman check up, the other reason I made an appointment was to get information on an alternate form of contraceptive. Without going into too much detail (I feel like I already did!), I told her I wanted to switch to a different birth control method. I explained to her all of my reasons why, and all of my concerns. She patiently listened, and I sat there afterwards, waiting for some professional advice. Her 'professional' advice? "Well, I can give you a pamphlet, and you can make the decision from there. It's different for every woman". WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK. Listen, I KNOW it's different for every woman. I don't expect you to look into some magical crystal ball and tell me exactly how my body will respond to a different medication. But, DOCTOR, I was hoping you'd be able to, oh I don't know, give me some actual USEFUL information that I couldn't just look up myself on the internet? I knooow you have other women who are on this form of birth control; couldn't you give me some of their experiences, complaints, etc? Needless to say, I was a bit frustrated. I hate going to the gynecologist anyway, and Dr. Ewing did nothing to make my experience at least somewhat tolerable. She couldn't even answer the questions that I asked her. I'm looking for a different doctor as we speak. I rarely say this about anything, but I will never go back. read more

I want to say I LOVE Dr. Ewing. She listens and makes you feel as comfortable as possible in a usually uncomfortable situation. You know what I mean, ladies. The reason for the 3 stars is that her staff is terrible. They have "had a mishap" with urine samples and I had to drive back to the office (30 minutes) for give another one. They have failed to follow up with insurance repeatedly. They have charged the wrong insurance and then I get a huge bill that I then have to fight because they screwed up. I have given them my new card and they are supposed to have entered it into their system only to call me two more times for me to give it to them again. Seriously!? Yeah, they are bad. Dr. Ewing, get rid of your staff they are making you look bad. read more

After years of going here, I have finally had enough. I keep telling myself that I am going to go to a different doctor, but just haven't because of the general avoidance of finding a new place. Dr. Ewing isn't actually the problem, from what I can tell. The problem is that the office is disgustingly mismanaged. Here are some reasons why: -The lady at the front desk is typically sour-faced and would never go to any trouble to help you in any way. One time the entire waiting room came and went after me and when I said something to her she asked me when I would like to reschedule with no apology. This was after more than an hour in the waiting room! - Long waits are typical. If my appointment takes less than 2-3 hours, I'm shocked. -Good luck getting them to even answer the phone in the first place. Some days, they just don't. -The bathroom is outside of the waiting room. After you pee in your cup, you have to walk back through the room with it to place it in the lab desk. For a person with anxiety, this is a little too much. -I had to make an appt., wait, pay a co-pay, just for her to tell me I don't have cancer and to go home. -They forgot to fill my prescription, and then didn't answer the phone until late afternoon. After I explained what happened, the problem was still not resolved and I had to go through my primary for help. I don't expect that much from a doctor. I understand that there can be bad days, but this has been constant and I feel abused, devalued, and ridiculous for going here as long as I have. read more

These negative reviews have me floored. I LOVE Dr. Ewing and her staff. For the past four years I went to a different OB/GYN for my annual exam and after four years of awful bedside manner I finally switched to Dr. Ewing. Not only was her staff personable, but they were very thorough with my medical history and making sure everything was billed correctly through my insurance. Dr. Ewing herself made me feel extremely comfortable and explained any questions I had. I was in and out in exactly an hour; for my first time at the office, I say that's a win. I will NEVER go to another OB/GYN as long as I'm in St. Louis. read more

I have been going to Dr. Ewing for years and she is the best gynecologist that I have ever had. She does everything she can to help her patients. I have not had a problem with Dr. Ewing or her staff. If i did I would tell her! Some doctors are worth waiting for and she is one! read more

Dr. Renee Ewing delivered three of my sons. Every office visit was pleasant, all the staff were nice, the atmosphere was always professional and clean. They had a small play area for children in the waiting room. I don't recall ever waiting more than 10 minutes in the exam room or 15 minutes in the waiting room. I never had a negative experience. She was at Missouri Baptist Hospital for my deliveries. MO Baptist is an excellent place for child birth. Their staff was very professional and very helpful. I had a 1) C-section, 2) vaginal w/ epidural, and 3) natural birth--but my third one came shortly after my arrival to the ER. My water broke in the car. The ambulance picked me up because my mom got scared and wouldn't drive fast. She pulled over onto the Hooter's parking lot in the Westport area! I think the paramedics called Dr. Ewing but there was no way she could have made it in time. My son was ready to see the world. LOL :) My sons are healthy, doing well and I highly recommend Dr. Ewing and Missouri Baptist Hospital. The staff showed me how to pump, where & what pump to purchase. I successfully nursed and pumped for each child. I even stored the breast milk for months with the Gerber freezer bags. :) (I wish she or her staff would have discussed meal portions during pregnancy because I ate healthy but my appetite increased tremendously.) So Tracey and Stephanie, I can vouch for you both. I had the same experiences. The last time I went was to go over a test result (that the technician previously told me was fine). My appointment was for 3:30, I got there at 3:10 because my thought is that if you are not 15 minutes early you are late.....anyway.....long story short, I got dressed and walked out at 5:00!!!! The doctor called my cell phone twice, I assume to apologize. Since there was no number showing on my phone (blocked for obvious reasons) she left a message but no number to call back. Now I am in need of a form to be signed by their office. I sent it in over 3 weeks ago and sent them a message telling them what I needed. I have not seen the form and no one will respond to my messages. When I call the only number I have ever had for the office, I get some strange answering service. There is either something really wrong with the office or there is something really wrong with the Doctor. I actually love her but all these reviews are saying the same thing so now I am thinking it might be time for a change. Good luck ladies!!!! read more
