If I could vote more than 5 stars, I would. I searched Yelp to find a place to repair my prescription sunglasses that had inadvertently been run over by a scooter. I found a wonderful review on Yelp and chose Ewing Optical. Just a fabulous experience with the staff and magical Bobby, who was not only able to repair my sunglasses, but didn't charge me a penny! Where in the world can you find first class people who were so kind and friendly and then did it for nothing. In this day and age, this is a joy to find a place that is truly magical. Updated 5/3/22 I had an issue with the sunglasses I purchased from Ewing Optical from Maui Jim. Bobby was able to warranty the sunglasses out and get me an entirely new frame. My experience buying my son's glasses started out good. The staff was really helpful and friendly. My toddler really wanted the exact glasses and color he picked out. When I got home I saw that the color was wrong on the order so I called. I was told the glasses would be ordered correctly. We were told it would be a week to 10 days. Almost 3 weeks go by and I call the see what the problem is, they said they were just going to call me the think they could be finished that day. I think the glasses sat there for weeks and they didn't work on them till I called. We went to pick them up and they were the wrong color, my son was very upset. We really needed the glasses so we took them and made the best of it we could. I paid $400 for these glasses and had the scratch coating added and was supposed to get a year warranty. The glasses were never fitted to my son and were visibly too big for him. They broke after two weeks. They also got very scratched after a week. I was going to be charged over $100 to get them fixed. No thanks on that. Learn from my mistake, don't throw way a lot of money on some poorly made glasses they won't stand behind. I got my son a pair of glasses for the online store roshambo. They came in about a week, cost $150, were in the right color, and have last several months now. No scratches and haven't broken. read more

DON'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE! I sat on my delicate glasses and bent the hinge that holds the thin arm. Since I'm a Costco member, I went there and they told me the glasses couldn't be repaired. Then I went online and searched for 'Master Optician' and saw the reviews for Ewing. I went there and had my glasses fixed for a reasonable price. While I was waiting, I overheard one of the workers there explaining progressive lenses to a new customer who didn't want a line in her bifocal glasses. Although I've been wearing progressives for years, this Ewing employee gave the most thorough, comprehensive explanation I've ever heard. Based on the reviews I read here, I drove 30 minutes to see what this shop could do with the broken temple on my glasses. They couldn't repair this particular break, but they found another temple (used, in box of extra parts) that fits and looks fine (not an exact match, but approximately the same size - nobody will notice). The shop has a wide selection of frames. It is clean and comfortable. The staff were very kind and hospitable. Once I get a new prescription, I will head back there. I just found Ewing Optical this year and I really wish I had found them sooner. My family has VSP for our eye plan and it's been very frustrating using providers that are in our plan because their prices are so high that even with our plan, we end up paying hundreds of dollars for eye glasses and frames. Our kids go to school with the owner's kid and I knew they owned an optical store so just out of curiosity, I decided to check them out. Going in, I was skeptical because Ewing does not take my eye plan and my out of network coverage is much lower than my in network coverage. I was surprised to discover that even given the insurance situation, their prices were more affordable at Ewing. For example, my husband's frames cost $425 at our in plan provider (I'm assuming they jack up the prices) and they were $239 at Ewing Optical. Aside from price, they have really great customer service. Everyone I talked to was very helpful and friendly. The turn around time if very fast. My in plan provider needed to send my husband's glasses out to a lab and it would take 2-3 weeks. At Ewing, he ordered them on Tuesday and they were available for pick up on Thursday and he didn't have to go without his glasses. They also have a really nice selection of glasses. So needless to say, I'd recommend this place without hesitation. read more

I could not be more pleased with the service I received since going to Ewing Optical a few weeks ago. After checking with other optical companies first to find out if the plastic nose piece on my sports glasses could be replaced, Denise took the time to call the company who made it, and found they would replace the frame for only a nominal sum. She also arranged for the bent side pieces on my regular eyeglass to be replaced to just like new condition for only $20 and helped me get a great deal on my new turbo frame eyeglasses with transitional lenses. I would even think of going anywhere else for my optical needs as the service, expertise and value received for the money there cannot be beat!! read more

I don't understand why these guys haven't set up their yelp site but they have an awesome business! While working as a traveling critical care nurse, I was unable to find anyone honest enough to repair my glasses. Because they wanted to sell me a new pair of glasses, which would amount to approximately $500, I was consistently told by each optical center I went to that my glasses could not be repaired and that I would have to get a NEW eye exam and purchase a NEW pair of glasses. I was so FRUSTRATED!! And THOROUGHLY SICK SICK SICK of DISHONEST people!!! What they didn't know was that I had experience with eyeglass repair and KNEW that my glasses could be repaired! When my husband and I went to Ewing Optical we were immediately impressed! Upon entering the shop we were welcomed as though we were family that had been away for a long time! The staff was so warm and friendly! I just felt from each one of them a realness. They were just good people working everyday like us. Good people with good spirits!! Ahhhhhh!! I HAD TO EXHALE!! I showed the sales woman my glasses and she disappeared and took them into a large room that looked like a tinker shop. There were four or five guys back there with their heads down, working seriously and meticulously. Little did I know that this place has its own optical shop!! These guys were all opticians! How amazing was this?? After all my years of frustration, God sent me to a REAL optical shop!! The owner came from the room with my glasses in hand, and the sales lady in tow. He handed me my glasses....REPAIRED!!! WTH!! He introduced himself as the owner of the shop and explained the repairs he made to my glasses. Do you know how much money this man saved me?? Do you know how much money he lost by repairing my glasses?? OMG!! What honesty! How refreshing!! I'm going on a trip to Florida and I now need new glasses!! I'm in California now and I'm not getting my glasses from anywhere but Ewing Optical! I will WAIT until my trip!! COME HELL OR HIGH WATER IM GOING TO EWING OPTICAL FOR MY GLASSES!!
