It's tough to find a good brunch spot in Lublin and Locomotiva hits the mark. I really enjoy lingering here long after my meal is finished and having a coffee while reading.

I noticed people here eat a lot of ice cream. So, on my last day in Lublin, I decided to give it a…read moretry just so that can say I did it. As another reviewer pointed out, their ice cream is very good, but I don't think it would blow you away. While there are ice cream stands all over the city, this ice creamy gets a long line. That's precisely why I chose this place. Again, the quality is very good. They offer interesting flavors. I tried fig with poppy seeds. Im not sure of the combination, but I thought the numerous poppy seeds added an interesting texture. Single scoop was only 4.5 PLN ($1.20) Small waffle cone was 1.00 PLN ($0.25) There's no way we can have this quality of ice cream for $1.50 in the US. I recommend that you try ice cream while in Poland. ***************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit "useful" so that I can improve my future reviews. We had a delightful meal at Soczysta Strawa, which was one of the few veggie friendly places in…read moretown that was open when we visited shortly before Christmas. The food is really affordable; 15 - 18 PLN (around $4 - 5 USD) for a filling main dish. Warning for those who don't speak Polish: there's no English menu, and the servers didn't speak English when we visited. But if you're familiar with a few of the food words (and/or you have Google translate), it's not too hard to decipher. You order at the counter, and the food is brought to you. The vibe inside is cute and chill, and the person behind the counter was very friendly, even though we didn't know enough to communicate well with her. They also sell juice, which we didn't try. We tried the dish of the day, which was potato pancakes with a veggie stew and a cup of soup (they let us pick which soup we wanted, and we had a really delicious mushroom soup.) We also tried the "cutlet", which is basically a veggie patty, served with buckwheat and a couple of salads. You can pick what kind of cutlet you want, and I got one made with spinach. It tasted great! The menu is 100% vegetarian and mostly vegan. The vegan dishes are marked - I think. This didn't happen to us (so far as I know? maybe the cream served with my cutlet was dairy?) but a couple of users on Happy Cow have complained that they were served dairy by accident when ordering vegan food. So if you're a strict vegan, be careful!
