I'd definitely recommend working with Khino to achieve your personal fitness goals. Lots of flexible approaches for any schedule and budgets, a great motivational presence, and a boundless amount of fitness knowledge (plus he's always ready with an appropriate sitcom quote for any scenario). I've loved my experience.

I needed someone to walk me through how to get the most out of the gym, to give me the confidence to pursue fitness on my own, and to keep me coming back every week. So far I've worked with both Khino and Nataliia who have enthusiastically given me everything I've wanted and more. They don't take a one-size-fits-all approach, and they understand my goals and what's important to me so that we can focus on that every session. I have always felt that I could ask them anything without feeling stupid or like I don't "belong" there. They are clearly experts at what they do but are very kind and welcoming to newbies like me. I end every session feeling tired but accomplished at having completed the workouts they designed for me. I can't recommend PPT strongly enough!

The front desk staff is always really nice, and the trainers seem awesome overall. I can definitely recommend mine, Will. He's knowledgeable, astute, goal-focused, and encouraging. It also feels like a genuinely respectful space. I haven't seen anyone leering or acting like a jerk - quite the opposite. And people are good about reracking weights and wiping down equipment. Parking can be a little bit of a situation at times, and people sometimes seem to wait around for spots for some reason, but there's actually plenty of parking diagonally across the street in the garage. Street parking is also often free or just a couple of bucks, so it's very manageable once you know the options. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot. Great vibe, great trainers, and solid equipment. There's even a hot tub in the locker room. It's not a polished, spa-looking place, but honestly that's part of the charm. I'd much rather deadlift somewhere with personality than in a lifeless beige box.

Very disappointing experience with Portland Thai Boxing…read more I wanted to train while I was visiting Portland and PDX Thai Boxing seemed like an awesome spot. I emailed the gym to ask about waivers/drop-in fee but didn't receive a response. I figured I could handle everything when I got the the gym. Once I got to Portland I decided to take the 10am Monday class. After spending the money to take a Lyft to the gym, I get there and no one was at the front desk. Someone pointed me towards one of the coaches and I asked him about a drop-in fee. The coach informed me that PDX Thai Boxing doesn't do drop-in's because of Oregon Covid policies. Apparently I was supposed to sign up for some online portal that would've let me sign up for class. Since I didn't sign up, I couldn't train. The coach informed me that there was a phone number I could call to talk to someone and then asked me to leave the gym (he wasn't mean or disrespectful about it). I called the number and got a voicemail. The coach was doing his job and the policy is this policy, but it sucked to get turned away from the gym. I should've called ahead, that was my mistake. Overall, the whole experience felt really bad. The worst part is that the gym looked really nice! If you're looking to train here make sure you call ahead or you might get turned away.

Limited number of people, spaced out so we don't get germy with each other, all the windows open, hand washing, disinfecting.... all the things are happening here. Let me just say, this is one of the most comfortable boxing clubs I've ever been in. 2nd floor with windows all around. The natural light is amazing. There is a ring and plenty of bags and gear. They sponsor a club, and if your goal is to throw down for real you can acquire that skill and practice here. My goal in coming to McConnell's was simply to help give me an outlet for moving my body. I didn't join with the intention of actually learning anything, just show up, cardio, and go home. It's been such a chill experience that I now take 4 classes a week, I'm gaining muscles, and am developing actual skills and knowledge. But the best part? I MADE FRIENDS! This gym attracts some pretty great people. It's welcoming to all body types, genders, orientations, and nationalities. And there's never any pressure to be more involved than you want to be. I have no interest in actually fighting, but I'm having a great time. I love this place.

Typically I'm here to swim laps and take water aerobics, so can't comment on the gym classes or equipment. Itzel teaches water aerobics M-W_F at 9am and her classes are packed largely due to her energy and the workout everyone gets. It's hard to keep a class fresh when it's three times a week, but Itzel manages to keep everyone engaged with excellent, varied music, exercises, and her smile and energy. For lap swimming, this is my favorite pool because it's much longer than the other LA Fitness locations At 25 meters vs 25 yards, which really makes a difference. There are 3 lanes, which swimmers split, and rarely do you have to wait for a lane unless you want to swim at 10am on M-W-F right after water aerobics when many people stay in the pool to continue their workouts. The showers, sauna and locker rooms are relatively clean. I say relatively, because it depends on the volume and the cleanliness of those using these spaces. I will say the woman who cleans the ladies locker room works her bitt off and is always sanitizing and wiping things clean.

After all that, I got a quick workout in but the space was overcrowded and dirty, some of the weight machines were covered in rust and the locker room was unkept. I didn't return for days 2 or 3 of the trial pass, I'll probably just try something local instead of a big box gym like this.

All the accessories you would need are provided: shower/spa shoes, towels (multiple types), their own line of yummy shampoo, conditioner and lotion. They even have a drying machine to cycle out the water in your swim suit. Love that there are multiple sections (hot soaking pool, warm still water, cold plunge, sauna, steam room infused with eucalyptus) to go through and that there's a guide for how to rotate through the spaces on the wall. The steam room was my favorite. Also love the outdoor balcony section with lots of chairs to soak in sunshine or lounge with a book. In my experience, service is super friendly esp with the mini locker room rundown. Water pressure and temperature is very finnicky in the shower stalls, but they were very spacious. Think 24 Hour Fitness, but make it wellness. Hot tub, steam, sauna... clean, simple, and the staff are genuinely great. No complaints there. But the experience itself? It's just... basic. Cascada, on the other hand, is a whole different level. The comparison honestly feels like Spirit vs Delta, Holiday Inn vs The Ritz, Nissan vs Lexus. Once you've experienced that level of intention, design, and atmosphere, it's hard to go back. Knot Springs isn't bad, it's just not that. If you're looking for a straightforward soak, it'll do the job. But if you're chasing an elevated, immersive wellness experience... you might leave wanting more.
