I got my first tattoo done here and safe to say I was nervous. The sweetest man walked me through the process slowly ensuring I was informed and prepared. It was super quick and surprisingly mostly painless. I had gotten a handwriting tattoo and the artist NAILED it exactly. I waited a year for my tattoo to heal to ensure there were no blow outs or mistakes, but it is still going strong and clean! They offered free touch ups for the tattoo also which is extremely appreciated. Studio is sanitary and such a welcoming place! read more

do NOT get your belly button pierced by this man. first of all, he pierced me "too high and too deep" according to the piercer i had to go to to fix his mistakes. he pierced me with jewelry that was too small for the hole he made, making it impossible to clean. my stomach was pinched and in a lot of pain. i went with my friend who got her nose pierced. her jewelry ended up sinking through the hole because the jewelry was yet again, too small. i do NOT recommend this place for piercings!! read more

I began coming here at the recommendation of a co-worker, whose whole family had been tattooed by Melissa. I didn't ask for Melissa and instead, got my first (and second!) tattoo ever from Thom, who -- on both visits -- took a simple idea I had and made it look so much better than I had personally envisioned. You know how people say that getting your first tattoo is like having your first kid? Yeah, I totally experienced that feeling with the bee he tattooed for me. And for my second tattoo, of the laughing Buddha and some text, he was very enthusiastic about my idea and convinced me to do it in color rather than the black and grey I had wanted. I am so happy he did. It's brilliant. I waited almost 10 years after knowing I wanted to get a tattoo to actually go and get my first one. I was intimidated by the tattoo shop "scene" and worried that I'd feel out of place there. So I can say that Evolution is a great place to go if you are concerned about feeling comfortable. The artists talk to each other while working on you, and if you also get Thom to do your tattoo, he has one of those quiet rotary machines that don't aggravate you so much with the buzzing. I wasn't worried about the pain of tattooing so much before I experienced it, since I have a high tolerance, but I was uneasy from not knowing what to expect I'd feel for hours. So I was jumpy. The artists here are really good about that and will check in to see how you feel. On top of everything else: it's super affordable. When I decide what else I might want on my body permanently, this is the place I'll go! read more

Today I stopped in to ask Melissa about a cover up tattoo.. She was off for the day but happened to walk in while I was at the counter. To my dismay, she wouldn't even looked at us and stormed past is saying she needed to smoke first and mentioned to everyone that she's not working today! I had my septum pierced on Saturday by J and he was awesome. It wasn't just one of those impersonal in and outs. We spoke a bit, had a few laughs and completely took my mind off what was about to happen. I can happily say, he hit my sweet spot and I barely felt anything other then a very slight pinch. It was great and I was very happy of how great this experience was for me, given the fact that I was terrified. He went over with me about if I feel faint, that he is trained to handle the situation. So that felt a lot better. Fortunately, I didn't pass out at all. Ha. Definitely a place I recommend. It was clean, the staff were friendly and funny. They made me feel comfortable. I wouldn't recommend getting a piercing from this studio. I got my tragus pierced and my cousin got 2 piercings on her cartilage. By the following Monday the ball on my piercing had fallen off and my cousins cartilage had swelled tremendously, despite the fact that we were both actively cleaning it with the H2Ocean spray. I called the studio about 4 times and was told that Jay (the piercer) would be in to help me. When I got there I was told Jay wasn't coming in for the day and he would call me back. I never received a call back. I had to go to another studio to get the ball put back on. The piercer from the other studio then informed me that the barbell I was originally pierced with, was way too small. A week later my tragus became so swollen, it swallowed the earring completely. Wanting nothing more to do with Evolution, I went back to the 2nd studio, paid for a longer bar and the removal of the original too small bar from my ear. When my cousin went back to see Jay she was charged $20 more dollars to remove her cartilage piercings. I have other piercings (2 earlobes and my nose ring) and this was by far the worst experience I've had with a piercing. Again if you want to take the risk, go for it, otherwise stay far away from Evolution Tattoo Studio. read more

I just went to Evolution Tattoo and was very happy with the result. I went in for a small memorial tattoo. The staff was helpful and gave good advice about what I was trying to accomplish and the color. They took the time to go over the design and to answer all my questions. The place was sterile and they just painted and redid the space. The staff was well versed in the techniques. I felt like the environment was very welcoming to someone outside of thier normal clientel. I was so happy with my service that I felt like they needed a positive review. read more

I wouldn't recommend anyone to go here. I got my cartilage pierced, and on the same day my cousin got her Tragus done. Both of us had very bad swelling and pain days after getting our piercings. I went in for jay (the piercer) to look at my swollen ear and was told to just ice it and take Ibuprofen. 2 days later, my ear was swollen even more and I had to leave work to go to the shop because the pain was unbearable. When I went back to get my piercing removed, they CHARGED ME $20. My cousin's swelling was so bad that her tragus swallowed the earring. Wanting nothing to do with evolution anymore, she went to a different studio to help her out. The equipment HAD TO be dirty if we both experienced similar problems. We were cleaning our piercings 6 times a day, like we were told, with the recommended spray from the studio. I have several other piercings and this was BY FAR my worst experience. read more

Despite having work done here before, I would never recommend or use them again. My daughter scheduled an appointment on a Saturday for the next day (Sunday) and gave them a $60 deposit. Sunday morning they called to cancel, as the artist's wife had a baby - which is completely understandable. They said he'd call back to reschedule. After not hearing back we called the following week and were told the artist would be calling back to reschedule in the next day or two. He didn't call back within that timeframe and my daughter was now getting quite anxious to get her tattoo. Disappointed by the lack of customer service, my wife showed up at Evolution and explained her frustration asking for a return of the deposit. After a good deal of back-and-forth, the owner reluctantly handed her the deposit and told her to go F@&$ herself. I am VERY disappointed by their actions and suggest people go to Inkwell or any other establishment. read more
