I prefer controlling something with four wheels that offers me a bit more protection if I hit something. Plus, you don't get saddle sore in a car (unless you drive it weird, anyway). However, I recently visited College Cycles in Crosby with a friend and was pleasantly surprised by the selection of bikes on offer there. From the outside, the shop doesn't look particularly big but inside they make good use of the space, ensuring there is a large selection of bikes in various shapes and sizes on show. Their prices are pretty reasonable and competitive and their service is both efficient and personal, with their staff offering friendly advice and help whenever needed. I'll stick to four wheels myself, but if you're more of a two-wheeler kind of person then maybe check out College Cycles.

For many years Halfords operated out of a big building on Charlotte Road. This was easy to get to…read moreand had an attached service centre but the building was cold, draughty and had the ambience of an aircraft hanger. As of October 2008 they have relocated, making the short hop over to the Mostyn Champneys estate. The new shop is much more pleasant and appears cleaner and brighter. The staff all appear to be friendly and helpful. Theres a mezzanine floor for the bike department which is well stocked with a large selection of both bikes and equipment. The ground floor has all the car stuff and is well stocked despite being smaller than the old place. The service centre has stayed behind but that was franchised out years ago so it isn't part of Halfords anymore. All in all and nice shop if you need parts for your car or bike.
