Sports massage is something that I seek in order to get deep relief of my abused muscles. I actually work for a living and so my body is subjected to the rigors of strenuous physical labor. Sandy is an excellent technician and is able to get in there and get the knots worked out while being technically savvy enough not to cause any further trauma. I've been seeing Sandy for over a year on almost a weekly basis. I only just found out she had a Yelp page so I figured I had to make my stand here. If you need a technical, healing massage, this is the spot. read more

I can't believe I waited so long to see Sandy. She worked magic! I used to go to an array of different therapists but I just finished my first appt and literally canceled all the rest of my appts with other therapists because I only want to see Sandy from now on. DO NOT WAIT TO BOOK WITH HER if you want a true, deep, sports massage! read more

WOW! Let me start off by saying I am an athlete I have a pretty rigorous training schedule & I beat my body up! I also had my ACL & LCL replaced in my knee. I know my way around massage therapy. I have worked with more than a dozen different therapists through the years. Sandy is the first massage therapist that actually WORKED on me. Most other therapist either didn't have the strength or technique to get the results that I got with Sandy. Look no further because Sandy is your go-to massage therapist for anyone who leads a fit, healthy, active lifestyle... that being said I'm sure she's exponentially better if you're less beat up than I am. THANK YOU SANDY! read more

I have been getting massages from Sandy for over 10 years...so you know she is truly amazing! It is a gift that Sandy has the ability to find the areas that I have been having trouble with. She knows areas that need to be worked on a little more but she also listens to your needs. I have had a lot of massages in my life but when you find someone who has the technique and expertise like Sandy you stick with her. Even when she moved further away from where I live...I made sure to still see her on a regular basis. Sandy has a gift for healing! Hands down..far better than everyone else. I highly recommend her! read more

This treatment by Sandy was a surprise from my fiancee as we visited for the weekend from Honolulu. As an independent Massage Therapist, I am either too busy or broke to treat myself to what I practice... sad but true. Plus, we get very picky about who works on us. Massage is all about trust, intention, presence, focus and knowledge of anatomy; a skillful blend of science and individual feel/touch. Sandy's treatment was very good and fulfilled all the above. She has a very gentle and relaxing demeanor. Her work was focused throughout the session with nice spa additions (warm towel on the back once done with the area, warm towel on feet). Thank you Sandy for this great treatment. read more

My husband and I just got out first massages at Essential Body Therapy and we could not be happier! The massages Sandy gave us have by far been the best massage service we have ever gotten. My husband had been experiencing a lot of chronic pain in his neck, back, and shoulder region from working a full time desk job. After his massage, his shoulders felt loose and he physically, emotionally, and mentally felt better. He said, I quote: "That is the best massage I've ever gotten. She's good!" He can't wait to go back! For me, every massage I've ever gotten has been painful and uncomfortable. I am tense and stressed the whole time. I told Sandy about my previous experiences with massages and requested that she would please be gentle. For the first time, a masseuse was actually gentle and treated me well! She was very careful and I actually enjoyed the massage! Wow! I would highly recommend Essential Body Therapy. Whatever you're looking for, Sandy can do it! She is genuinely passionate about what she does, she provides excellent customer service, the location is beautiful, and her massages are out of this world. Do yourself a favor and book her now! read more

I highly, highly recommend Sandy for your next massage. She makes you feel very comfortable, has a truly open and amazing energy, and is able to tune into an individual's needs. She is at once both a professional and kindred spirit. You know when you meet your massage therapist for the first time? It's such an intimate experience, and their vibe really dictates how the session will go. With Sandy, it's as if you've known each other your whole life or something. She's amazing, what else can I say! read more

I meet Sandy a couple years ago at AEA Mom's Spa Night! She was very pleasant and friendly...which is huge with me because I am a people person. I received one treatment that evening and it was fabulous!!! She took the time in the beginning to find out about my aches and pains, etc and you could tell during the massage that she had listened to what I had. I felt great after my massage. Since that Spa night...she is the only person I go to. She is flexible with my nutty schedule...sometimes I go to her...sometimes she comes to me. Her spa parties are great and you as a host gets a free massage!!! Fun times! I also purchase gift certificates to give out for coach's gifts, friends, family, etc. If you are looking for someone to take the time to understand your body, who is flexible and makes you feel good...she is your gal! Love you Sandy!!!! read more

I am a new mom and it is really taking a toll on my back. Sandy is great concentrating on the areas I need most. She has a great touch, soft when needed and therapeutic and gets into the deeper tissue when appropriate. I feel like a different person every time I leave. Her setting is great as well! I would definitely recommend her services! read more

I was referred to Sandy from Essential Body Therapy and it was one of the best recommendations I have ever followed. Not only did Sandy have great communication before the appointment, she also taught me a lot about my body and gave me suggestions about how I can tune myself up. During my massage, she adjusted her program to accommodate the pain I had in my back. I was impressed and I couldn't have asked for any thing more from my experience. I highly recommend that you book Sandy for your next massage. I feel like I've found not only a great masseuse, but a lifelong partner in maintaining a high quality of life. Definitely coming back again! Thank you Sandy! read more

My new favorite massage therapist! Sandy had me fill out a chakra test. Based on that test, she was able to read where I am emotionally and spiritually. I was surprised at how on point she was with my readings! Then based on the readings, she massaged me accordingly. I really appreciated how Sandy customized my massage to my needs. It was a relaxing experience. I felt like the next 48 hours were very transformative, too. Her massage allowed me to open up to my bottled up emotions. Thanks, Sandy! :) read more

Sandy is an exceptional body works therapist. Not only does she give amazing massages, she also includes small touches like aromatherapy, light energy work and chakra work to make your session with her that more complete. Her work is unique not only by client needs but also by what she brings to the table. I absolutely loved my session with her and plan on coming in every 2-3 weeks to maintain the progress we've made! I'm so excited! She's so personable and easy to speak openly with, also. Thank you Sandy! read more

Simply amaZing! Great vibe and great spot with gorgeous view of the ocean! Sandy definitely knows the anatomy and physiology of the body. I've been getting massages once in a while and I'm often disappointed. Not her. After she asked me of the areas of focus to work on, she nailed it! I feel like a new person. I'm definitely coming back and recommending her to anybody. read more

Fantastic! Got much more out of the massage than I expected, and was so relaxed I fell asleep a little bit toward the end. Great vibe, beautiful location, and afterward, Sandy was great at explaining some of the issues with my body and some simple things I can do at home for when I'm feeling tense. She really knows the human body, how it works, and how to help! read more

I had a wonderful deep tissue massage experience with Sandy at Essential body therapy and I plan to go back and try her Thai massage a.s.a.p. The soothing aromas were pleasant, but what really got me was I could feel a very caring energy radiating from her hands. Sandy wasn't afraid to dig in deep using her elbows and who knows what else. Most importantly I felt very safe and comfortable the whole time, I am looking forward to my next treatment. read more

My travel schedule can be brutal and Sandy is so kind to accommodate the nuances of this. She comes to my home, with a smile, a sweet giggle, and when she leaves, I always feel better and more relaxed. She is not just in tune with the body, but your body and energy. Thank you, Sandy. read more

Great location and Sandy is an amazing masseuse! She made me very comfortable and really helped me relax. I highly recommend her!

Can you say "Ouch" is just what the doctor order. In need of some serious back pain relief Sandy came highly recommended. This was no sensual touchy feeling kind of treatment. I had a serious back issue that needed some much needed deep tissue work. The kind that makes you sweat, has you holding on to the table and mumbling not so great pleasantries under my breath. I came out of there feeling like a million...Thanks again, Sandy! read more

Sandy is not just a talented massage therapist, but a genuinely nice person. She is a great listener about your aches, pains, and whatever stress is getting in the way of your peace and harmony. I am so thankful to have found her, I would never go to anyone else! You will be 100% satisfied with your treatment, for SURE! read more

Just had my first 70-min massage with Sandy. It was fantastic and she is a gem of a human. Her passion for massage and helping people is immediately apparent. Heated massage table, spotless room, great music and most importantly, her great massage skills by the ocean make for a 5-star experience. Sandy is very perceptive to tension, ache, and stress. She also answered all my questions about massage and my body, teaching me how address certain asymmetries in my workout/yoga/surf routine. After such a great experience, I will definitely start going to her once a month hour-plus massages. I suggest you consider doing the same. read more

Sandy was part of a networking group I was involved with for a time. I always remembered her passion for healing, so when I sprained some back muscles at the gym the other week she came to mind and I gave her a shot. Sandy performed flawlessly and miraculously. The setting was quiet and ideal for focusing in on the solution I needed, both physically and spiritually. I'm much better now and know where to go and send others. read more

Sandy is terrific. She is warm and friendly, intelligent, and listens well. Her massages are not cookie cutter. Sandy discussed my concerns, and then, individualized my massage (body work). Her work loosened deep muscles resulting in decrease pain and an overall feeling of well being. I left Sandy's office feeling relaxed, energized, and well taken care of. I bought a package for body work with Sandy and I look forward to once again being in the Sandy's awesome oceanfront office, and in her skillful hands. I highly recommend Sandy for body work and I don't think anyone would be disappointed. read more

I first met Sandy through a 20 minute promotional chair massage. This was just a sample of her work, but I was convinced she was already the best masseuse I've had. She immediately found my problem areas without me telling her and she focused her energy on those tense spots. That was enough to get me to book an appointment with her for a full body massage. She was the first masseuse that actually put me to sleep for a moment! When she says, "I look forward to relaxing you," she means it! She is honest and genuine with her work. I've had other massages with several different places in San Diego and other masseuses seem to go through the motions and do their usual routine. Sandy is different and actually goes hunting for the knots and attacks! I love extra firm pressure and she delivers! She sends me off with a disclaimer that I'll be sore for a few days, and boy is she right! The good kind of sore that you get from a great workout. Except all you had to do was lie on a table, with a great view of the ocean in beautiful San Diego. The only reason why I wouldn't recommend her is because I want to keep her for myself! read more

The best therapeutic massage I have ever had! Sandy focused on the areas that I needed work on for my triathlon training and I felt great afterwards. She is professional, focused, and caring in her work. read more

Amazing hands, attention to detail, knowledge of massage therapy, and real listening are a few qualities that make Sandy a great therapist. I've been going to her for the last three years and she's been instrumental in keeping my aging (but active) body working properly with deep tissue massage. There are many massage therapists in SD, but Sandy's one of the best. I recommend her most whole-heatedly! read more

If you have ever met Sandy or have seen her website, you know that she takes great pride in massage being more than a luxury as it is absolutely a health benefit. I am here to tell you first hand how true this is! About 3 months ago, I severely injured myself playing basketball. Basically, I got hit by a defender going full speed as he set an illegal screen. Needless to say, this hit has completely rocked my world. When I first went to see Sandy, I was extremely hunched over and pretty much looked like I was auditioning for a part in the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Unable to stand straight up, lay flat on my stomach or back or even walk more than 10 steps without stopping for a break, I spoke with Sandy and we set up an appointment. I had already been going to a chiropractor that was convinced that my pain was located in my lower back, even though I continuously expressed that the pain was coming from another area. Needless to say, the chiropractor did not want to listen to me. Luckily, my experience with Sandy was completely opposite. She listened, asked questions and really took the time to understand what was causing me pain. Our first session was originally supposed to be a Thai massage but after getting me on the table and assessing what was going on physically, she changed her plan knowing that in order to help me be pain free again, she was going to have to tackle my issue with a series of different techniques. My first massage with Sandy was 1.5 hour session and I am happy to say that was the first sign of relief I had in over two months. I was able to stand up straighter and bend over far enough to get my hands past my knees (I was NO WHERE NEAR THIS BEFORE!!!). The second massage that I got was about a week and a half later. It was during this massage that she was able to pinpoint one of the major problems in regards to this injury! Since then, I have been steadily improving. I can not thank her enough for giving me hope that my issue can and will be resolved and I will have the chance soon enough to resume my extremely active lifestyle. Sandy is a FANTASTIC masseuse! Not only is she amazing at what she does, but she is truly a genuinely nice person as well. If you are searching for someone to go to in order to get an amazing massage LOOK NO FURTHER!!!! Believe me, you have found San Diego's best! read more

I strongly recommend Sandy for your next massage. I have an ongoing issue with my arm and shoulder and she was able to address it thoroughly. We talked before the massage and she took careful notes. I felt very comfortable during the massage. One of the extras was that her place is right on the cliffs so you can hear the waves hitting the cliffs during your massage. It was a really beautiful setting. read more
