My parents have used this catering company for small parties for years! When we found out a different catering company could not accommodate our requests (providing all glassware, chilled and hot appetizers, etc.), we contacted Everyday Gourmet LESS THAN 2 WEEKS before the event! They were happy to accommodate our every need. Since it was for a grand opening celebration/open house, we were unsure of how many guests would come. Our turn-out was about 200 guests, and there was plenty of food and drink for the party! We did 6-7 different passed appetizers - the servers were friendly, prompt, but not in-your-face-eat-this like some are. Staff was very professional. Every appetizer was delicious (we had the company recommend their most popular items). The cold apps were cold and the hot apps were hot. There were no discarded napkins, etc. lying around - they must have constantly cleaned-up after everyone too. We did wine and sparkling water service. The bartender had a drink in everyone's hand the second they walking in the door. Very fast, very attentive. Since we didn't know the exact head count of our party, the company brought as much wine as possible and didn't charge us for any unopened bottles that they could take back!!!! I only briefly met the owner/manager, but my mother really enjoys working with her. You can tell she has been doing this for years. She will come out to check-out your party space to plan ahead of the layout for her food and staff. I have to say this party was a lot of work, but the catering was the easy part thanks to Everyday Gourmet. Sparvim and her staff were amazing! Our wedding at the Redfield Estate was June 4th, 2010, a Friday night. Do things ever go as planned on a wedding day? I really don't think so. We had a few morning mishaps that prevented me from getting there (from the Wyndham across the street) until about 1 hour before the ceremony. They were there in plenty of time--even with traffic and construction. I had already spoken on the phone to Sparvim a few times before I arrived--she wanted to double-check that my sister's instructions on the outdoor seating were what I wanted (they were what I wanted, but what I wanted was a little strange). Once I arrived, she saw me putting some stickers on the escort cards, and promptly assigned one of her staff to take over, without me even asking or complaining about doing it. Talk about above and beyond! Everyone said the food was absolutely amazing. I hardly ate anything (because the jitters never really wore off), but what I did eat was delicious, even better than the tasting. Perfectly seasoned, fresh. Even the salad got rave reviews. The servers were great, and everyone I talked to afterwards said the bartender was awesome (drink-making and personality-wise). And the cake...at that point I was pretty much required to eat, and as soon as my husband gave me that first bite, I ran off with the plate! Sparvim and I were of the same mind on fondant (YUCK), and I'm so glad. The buttercream frosting looked and tasted amazing. We had a lot of leftovers (in addition to the top tier) in our freezer, and we ate every bit of them over the following few weeks. Also, they were priced very reasonably, not cheap by any means, but worth every penny. We were on a pretty tight budget for a wedding (we DIY-ed pretty much everything), and she worked with us on a few things to get the price down a little while keeping the menu intact. read more

We booked Everyday Gourmet for our wedding in August 2016. Sparvim is the owner. Pros: Food was DELICIOUS and well presented, servers and bartenders were friendly and professional, linen and tables looked great, Sparvim is very charming, and she met with us on-site twice to discuss our vision for the wedding and made us feel comfortable about our big day. Sparvim underbid our 1st choice caterer, which made her the economical choice as well. Cons: #1 Con: We signed a contract with Everyday Gourmet about 9 months before our wedding because Sparvim's underbid our 1st choice caterer. But 48 hours before our wedding, Sparvim hit us with a second contract asking us for more money because of the cost of ice, and extra wait staff that she determined would be necessary. Nothing had changed on our end - in fact our final guest count had gone down. The second contract for Everyday Gourmet made the cost higher than our 1st choice caterer. Other cons that didn't bug us quite as much but which are worth noting: both email and phone communication tended to be slow, the company only uses one liquor company which wasn't explained (and we wasted an afternoon shopping for liquor somewhere else), and the bakery they pair with does only one kind of cake - and its not the bakery that created the beautiful tiered cake shown in someone else's review. All in all, the food and wait staff were both wonderful; and if you're ready to argue about a potential surprise final bill, book them. However, my husband and I would not recommend them. read more

Oh my God!!!!! They did my wedding on Aug. 2nd, 2008 and I was very disappointed!!!! They did not serve enough hors dourves to my guests and said that they were out and not serving and our best man saw them eating them in the back kitchen!!! They were also late in serving dinner and also did not serve enough! People were still hungry and they cut serving food to my guests early and guess who was eating the food in the back? They were!!! People were practically serving themselves at the bar while the bartenders just stood there! They were even late in serving my wedding cake and they did not even clear the chairs for our first dance. The totally chopped up the wedding cake when they were serving it. . Do not pick this caterer for your wedding unless you want to be very pissed off and have a horrible wedding day!!!! read more

My husband and I were married on 10/08/11 at the Redfield Estate in Glenview. We decided to go with one of the venue preferred caterer. We met with 3 caterers, and in the end decided to go with Sparvim. She made us feel very comfortable that she had everything under control. She worked to stay as close to our budget as possible, and has AMAZING food. Plus, she was the only caterer that would do a sit down dinner for the number of guests we had (approx 85). She also gave us advice on how to keep costs down by providing our own beverages. Everything looked absolutely beautiful - we had the ceremony in front of the pavilion, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres inside the house, and then sit down dinner in the pavilion. And the food was truly fantastic. She accommodated my food allergies, and I was blown away by the food the day of. Everyone was telling us how great everything tasted, and we are still hearing that from our guests! Sparvim and her staff planned perfectly for the reception. We had plenty for all guests, and her staff cleaned and packed everything up for us at the end of the night. Even my guests were commenting on how smoothly everything went. There were some slight mishaps in the beginning. The day before my wedding she told me due to the limited setup time, her staff could not arrange my DIY centerpieces and I would need to assign a family member to do so. Setup just before was also a little hectic. I asked my mom to help, and Sparvim was being a little short with her before she realized she was the MOB. Dinner also took longer to serve than I liked. We would have paid for more staff to move things along more quickly. However, I attribute all this to the new pavilion. The Grove just completed it in May, and very few caterers had used it for serving dinner - I know it was the first time for Sparvim. It was a learning experience. The first time doing something never goes exactly right. A couple of the other reviews called her "rude". After working with her, I don't think that's right. She is definitely persistent, and really wants to help you make everything perfect. I think if she feels your are unsure of a particular detail, she will push for what she thinks is best to help you. But if you are firm in the decisions you've made, it will work out fine. All in all, my wedding was absolutely fantastic thanks to Sparvim. I would totally recommend Everyday Gourmet! read more

Sparvim and the entire Everyday Gourmet team exceeded our every expectation for our October 2020 wedding. We had a 20-person wedding due to the pandemic and really cared about the quality of the food, plus we had vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians, and meat-eaters alike to please and Sparvim DID IT! Since we had an intimate wedding we really wanted to WOW our families with the food, especially since half of our attendees were used to the often-overlooked vegetarian meal option typically served at weddings. Everyone is still talking about how great the food was. The appetizers were plentiful and were visually stunning. We added an extra course since the meal was the main event for our smaller wedding and I am so glad we did this. Sparvim was very flexible and open to all of our menu ideas. She even created a salad based off of one of our favorite restaurants in California. Sparvim even created a coursed kids menu - she really blew us away from start to finish. She knows her business and was very helpful in making every decision, including the lovely tablescape. Her pricing was competitive and the service was outstanding. Every server was professional and incredibly friendly! The entire team took every precaution regarding Covid which made everyone feel comfortable and at ease. Sparvims expertise and personal touches were apparent in every dish, and the incredible presentation and tastiness of every bite made us lifelong customers. It was really important to us to have a vegetarian wedding, but most places we looked at had boring menus that didn't have a theme at all. I recently held a small intimate wedding of 80 guests in our family yard. I had three months to plan this wedding and I interviewed five different catering companies. I decided to hire Everyday Gourmet for the event. I couldn't be happier with my decision. Sparvim, the owner of the business was most helpful from beginning to end. She recommended a network of vendors that came through beautifully. From the florist, tent company to the wine vendor. The most incredible part of my experience, was the actual wedding day. We had extremely difficult weather conditions to deal with. The day started off to be one of the hottest of the summer with severe thunderstorms breaking right before the wedding. As the mother of the bride I was in full anxiety. Sparvim, kept calm, handed me a glass of wine, and carried off her duties with an amazing staff. The weather broke and cooled the evening off. The wedding had to be transferred last minute to the tent and everything was arranged impeccably. The food served through the cocktail hour to our beautiful sit down dinner was superb. Many guest complimented the dinner and presentation. It was wonderful! The staff was professional and lovely to deal with. I highly recommend this company to anyone! read more

I am annoyed at the type of treatment received by Everyday Gourmet, very unprofessional. My fiance and I are getting married June 2018 at the Redfield Grove and the next thing on the list ,, was to find a caterer. They were on the list of recommended caterers, so I emailed them. No response. Then I called and left a message, no one returned my phone call. Finally I called back and spoke with Sparvim who was friendly ,until she asked me about the budget. I told her I wasn't too sure but gave an estimate , at which she was off-put by and told me that perhaps we should move on and SOMEONE else would benefit us better. I explained that the budget I gave her is not set in stone. She tells me okay and agrees to meet in person to review what Everyday Gourmet has to offer. Sparvim then asks me again if I am sure and that she doesn't want to waste my time, I agree that my fiance and I will meet her December 30th 2016 at 5:30pm. We were running early so I called ,NO ANSWER. We show up and the place is obviously closed, with only a light on ,in what appears to be an office. We stayed until 5:45 and I called again leaving a message. It is now Tuesday and she has yet to return my call with at least an apology. If she was not interested in providing services to us, all she had to do was say so . Instead, Sparvim forgets that she is running a business and took the unprofessional, ill-behaved manner that can put her at risk with future clients. Unless you are spending 10,000+ on a wedding , perhaps she will be interested in your business! Other than that, look elsewhere!! read more

The woman we worked with from Everyday Gourmet was rude on the phone as we planned our event, and she was just as rude in person the day of. The food was decent at best--a fruit salad (anyone can chop fruit), a green salad without enough dressing, a simple quiche (I've had better), and pastries that tasted like they came from the grocery store (not fresh, not good quality). Our venue had a preferred caterer's list, if we chose a caterer outside that list we would have had to pay a large fee to the venue. Additionally, this caterer was the only one on the list who claimed they could cater to allergies and dietary restrictions. I (the bride) am severely allergic to dairy and have a few dietary restrictions. Initially they claimed they could do this and seemed confident. At the tasting I was unable to eat majority of the food as she had 'mixed up her notes' and forgot all about my requests and made a comment about how I should eat "just a little cheese". We tried to make the best of it as she assured me the wedding would go smooth, but each time talking with her afterwards made me realize she did not actually have knowledge of allergies or diet restrictions, causing me to stress about if this would be an issue the day of. She tagged on an extra fee for dietary needs without verbally letting us know. Just days before the wedding she changed her mind on how the tables would be arranged, the way food was to be served and tried to tell me some things on the menu just would not be within my dietary needs even though we had paid her that extra fee to do so. During this phone call I had to ask her Not to raise her voice at me. Yelling at your customer/bride days before an event/wedding is not a good idea. I had to have my mother take over all conversation after that. Fortunately, the wedding day food issues were settled and the menu was correct and her staff was friendly. An hour before the wedding she tried to make us change our venue arrangements to having everything indoors and she also tried cutting the time me and my groom had with the photographer short by interrupting us during the shoot. After, our cake topper was lost and even though we had buffet style, leftovers were not provided to us. She also had the audacity during the wedding to demand tips for all her staff from my mother, as if they were not getting tipped by everyone already, she ASKED for tips. Everything went smoothly and the food was delicious! Appetizers, main course, sides, and cake were all just what we hoped for. I've gotten many, many compliments from our guests on how wonderful it all was. It was money well spent. Sparvim (the owner) is very professional and knowledgeable--she really cares. Excellent! Sparvim catered our wedding a few years ago. We had our reception at an art gallery. Sparvim and her team did a great job. The food was excellent, the presentation looked wonderful. We were very happy with everything especially since they had to work in an unusual space and no real kitchen. We have also had her cater a party at our house. Our guests raved about the food for months. We just had another party and again the food was excellent! We had a plated dinner for 75 guests. The quality of the food was the best we have ever had at a wedding! Sparvim was helpful in planning the menu and suggesting resources such as an outstanding bakery to use for the cake. Her servers were polite and efficient . They helped us pack up at the end of the evening. She even helped us store the leftover wedding cake until we could make arrangements for it. I have used Everyday Gourmet for all of my catering needs for over 10 years, and I truly can't say enough good things about them. The first time I used them, I was very nervous about hosting a cocktail party with about 38 guests. It was my first one, and to say I was nervous is a huge understatement. Sparvim guided me through the process with experienced ease, and set me up with an absolutely wonderful server for the night who truly took care of every detail. And the artichoke puffs... PEOPLE, they are from HEAVEN. Seriously, some of my guests started crowding the kitchen to get the first ones out of the oven. All the food was tasty, and perfect for guests to eat while standing with their drinks. Sparvim knows what she is doing and I have continued to use their services whenever I can. I have also attended a number of parties and weddings that they have catered and they have consistently done an amazing job.
