I made my first appointment for a massage since COVID today. I had worked with Mark Weir, who began doing massage in retirement, so I thought I'd check it out. Happy to support local!
I texted Mark to arrange my appointment. I've been having headaches, so I was glad to get a quick appointment the very next day. He does 1-hour and 90-minute appointments. He is well versed in different kinds of massage, including Swedish, deep tissue, Shiatsu, etc.
I appreciated his sensitivity to the whole awkward disrobing thing. He left me alone to do that, and he only came in the room once I was face down on the table. The room itself is relaxing, with lower lighting that invites slowing down. I liked that he did not have incense burning; heavy odors are a problem for me.
His technique is gentle, but firm enough to work out muscles in my back, shoulders and neck. He regularly asked if the pressure was ok, and I liked that. Sometimes massage hurts, and I want to be feel comfortable asking for what I need. With Mark that is assured.
Mark paid attention to my entire back, and worked my neck in ways I have never experienced. I was impressed at all the methods he employed, and by the time I left I was far more relaxed than I have been recently.
I like to chat while being massaged, and he was very friendly. I asked him if he prefers that, and he said he will take his cue from the client. He can visit, as we did, or he can be quiet if the client prefers it.
I will definitely be back. read more
