I give up. After years of taking pets to Evers, I'm not taking one there ever(s) again. It's too expensive, diagnostic services in particular. And your animal always requires expensive diagnostics. "Well, the symptoms don't point to anything specific. it could be this, or maybe that. We would need to run more tests, and those would require anesthesia." So, you know: $$$$ They offer no help, such as an installment payment plan, for people who don't have hundreds in cash to shell out for a consultation. Just CareCredit, which is run by the mafiosi at Synchrony Bank. The staff don't exactly go above and beyond to help you. I arrived for an appointment. They couldn't find it. (It was my fault--I wrote the wrong date down.) All they said was, "No, there's no appointment for ______ today. There was a no-show a week ago." No offer to reschedule. Nothing. We brought our dog here for the first time not too long ago. A little history on our doggo. He was a shelter pup with an unknown history. He gets very stressed when being handled. Even at home. So the vet is a very scary thing for him. On Our first visit, he was very nervous and uncomfortable, but the doctor was gentle and patient. We decided it would be best for him to take some tranquilizers before attempting an exam to make it a little less stressful from him and for the staff. On our second visit, with the help of some mild tranquilizers, the doctor was able to do the exam, get some shots, and take a heart worm test. We saw dr schantz and she was so patient and so kind to our doggo. They gave him treats and scratches to keep him calm and distracted during his visit. We will definitely be returning for all our future appointments. I felt like the staff was kind and understanding of the extra attention and patience our dog needs. read more

This was our first visit to Evers. The people were nice and seemed thorough. However, I did question the price of an injection (Cytopoint) that our dog has been receiving at Clovis Pet Hospital . I have been paying $57 per injection in Clovis, however Evers charged $149.17 for the exact same injection. I questioned Evers about the difference in price and the lady 's response was "it has gone up a lot in price". I hung up the phone and called Clovis Pet Hospital to see how much they are charging since 'the price went up'. Clovis Pet Hospital reassured me that the price is still $57 per injection and has NOT increased in the last several months! Looks like I will be looking for a different vet in Chico or going back to Clovis for our vaccines, etc. read more

We have been to several vets in chico and they have all been good...but Evers is personal. They really know you and support you. They are available when you need them. Even if they aren't, they will be. The techs have all been great as well as the vets. The front office gives excellent customer service and care. We have taken our pet's here for year's. I love the staff. You can call anytime and they really do give good advice. The staff is kind and they really care about the animal's. We have become new clients after our previous vet offered vaccines only once a month on a workday. I'm very glad we did. They have several vets there which is very impressive. Most places only have one. The front desk staff is very friendly. The vet techs are very knowledgeable and helpful. There is no pressure to buy the more expensive treatments or merchandise. Appointments are at least 2 months out. They don't give reminders about vaccines and they won't email or fax vaccination records, you have to go pick them up. Huge pain over things that are pretty basic to do. read more

Over the last several years I have been to Evers on numerous occasions between my own pets and acting as support for my best friend when her kitty was ill. They have always been extremely knowledgeable and compassionate, and the front staff is incredibly friendly, giving treats and compliments to our pets many times. Yes, my babies are adorable, and no, I don't mind your saying it again -- they are amazing and so are you guys! One of my cats suffers from seizures and takes phenobarbital. I had previously been taking her to Chico Hospital for Cats which was charging us $22/mo for her medication and usually at least 5 days of doses were unusable due to being so poorly split. When we switched to Evers, they informed us that her medication could be obtained from Costco for much less, and they'd be happy to fax over a prescription. Whaaat? YES. Cost? A little $14 for 3 months at a time which saved us over $200 a year for her meds! Heck, substantially more if you count not losing so many doses to being crushed into a powder. I never felt pressured into spending more than necessary and I truly believe they are about what is best for the pet and their caretaker. Recently moved out-of-state, but after another positive experience by phone while getting my pets' records transferred, I wanted to leave a review here to say I recommend their clinic wholeheartedly! They also offer payment plans -- not just Care Credit! Very awesome for when your pets like to break unexpectedly. read more

This is a great vet, I feel comfortable there. They give you what your pet needs. Just one of many stories, my cat was holding its eye closed and my wife wanted to take her in on sunday so she brought her to valley oak. By the time she left she thought our cat was dying and had cancer in her eye she urgently needed scans and labs. I bring her to evers the next day and what do you know her eye was scratched she was prescribed eye drops that helped right away. $300 for valley oak to do nothing but scare my wife and try to get more money. $40 for a Evers real vet to treat the cat who's now happy and healthy. read more

They have always been so kind and gentle with my critters and when I had to put my dog down because of an accident, they made a donation in his name to UCD veterinary school. Had a 13 day old puppy that was seen at VCA 2 days prior and I had to wait 3 hours to be seen. So luckily Evers had a canceled appointment and they got me in within 1 hour of my call. The staff was above and beyond , they came out to my car to view the puppy! Had a brief wait before they got me in a room, the vet didnt prescribe me more meds she felt that what I already had was enough and that I had to just let the puppy fight! If there were more stars, I'd rate them higher. So my nanny was late and I had to bring my 2 year old toddler, my 85 pound dog with me, and am currently pregnant with a lifting restriction. I was already super stressed being late and having to juggle everything on my own. The staff, Alicia, Her, and Veronica just went above and beyond what my expectations were. One person carried my child in and out of his car seat, while another held him, brought him toys and took care of my giant dog. Everyone in there is very helpful and knowledgeable. You can tell they really care and are not just there for a pay check. They give you options and the facility is very clean and welcoming. Reasonable prices. It is also extremely easy to find. Both of my cats had a little respiratory problem and they had me in and out of there in no time with some helpful tips and some antibiotics. I have been taking my Fur-Babies to Evers for 17 years now!! We have had Emergency foxtails, too many times to count (PUGS), multiple surgeries, referrals for out-of-town surgeons twice and every time we needed help Dr Sue Evers and her staff have been there to meet our needs with the ut most professionalism and compassion. If something comes up with one of our "kids" they are generally seen immediately if need be or within 24 hours. We know our Babies will be cared for to the best they can be. When our Babies have had to pass on we have received sincere sympathy cards signed by the entire staff and donations to pet Care facilities in their name. Just a nice gesture. I took my dog tanner in because he was really sick. I had been somewhere else and got charged a lot. When we got there everyone was so friendly. The vet who helped him was Dr. Amy Schantz. She helped us get him well enough to get to uc davis where he could get the help he needed. I wish I knew everyone's name because without them my boy would have been put down last Friday! They are my angles and from the bottom of my heart thank you thank you thank you for saving his life! I'm happy to say Tanners on the road to recovery and coming home today! Thank You staff @ Ever's Vet Clinic. I recently called & then brought in my dog for an aspiration of fatty tumor. Long story short, their was a misunderstanding, turns out they could not aspirate. Tumor would have to be surgically removed & that it was not recommended for a dog of my dogs age. I thankfully was not charged, what so ever . Thank you for that. Do not go to this clinic. High pressure. Expensive. Did not help my dog after several visits. I changed to Dr Bettincort. Chico creek vet. clinic. What a difference. He is great. His office called Evers to get records for our dog and they lied about his vaccination history and would not send records. Lucky I have a copy of all vaccines and records. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because of the tall blonde behind the front desk. She seems to be in a permanent bad mood, not the best person to greet your paying customers. Knowledgeable and helpful, as they should be. Went in for a routine checkup, ear infection, shots and whatnot. I mentioned I had zero problems with fleas and ticks since I've had my dog for 2 1/2 years, but they still throw in flea and tick prevention on my invoice. Had to ask to have that removed. Heartworm prevention was on there too, which ended up being a 1 month dose with 11 refills $12 each pill. Who would want to go by every month just to get 1 more heartworm pill each time?? I made them change it to a 6 month pack so I got a better rate. Ear infection was swabbed and looked at under a microscope to make me pay even more money, could have just prescribed me the medicine without the test because the medicine is for both bacteria and yeast. By the end of the visit I felt like they were trying to squeeze every penny out of me. The only reason i chose this vet was because it was close to my house, but I'll be going back to my old vet that's just 5 minutes farther away. This visit would have only cost 1/2 as much there because they include some services in their standard exam price. Because it's All About Pets, not money. read more

I am so happy I decided to switch my puppies over to Evers' Care. Not only are they reasonably priced (compared to the outrageous prices I was paying at Valley Oak Vet) but the Doctor and staff are extremely welcoming and compassionate. I take my Yorkie puppies there and they have helped tremendously with any treatment we've needed or emergency we have had. Our dog needed supportive care after ingesting something, Evers was over $300 per day for supportive care. I am not complaining about their care or service, in fact our doctor was excellent but after spending lots of $$ we switched to Animal Medical Clinic which charged half the cost. I have used Evers Vet since 1976. It was a one pony show back then with Dr Evers practice! Now the practice is carried on by daughter Susan Evers and they have 4-5 vets. Would trust my animals with every one of them. They love animals and treat them and you accordingly. Front office staff friendly and always very helpful.
