While I've never actually disc golfed, this open space was adjacent to my childhood home and my elementary school. I've always admired its beauty.
Evergreen Open Space is pretty sizable and meanders through an entirely residential neighborhood. It's probably over a mile from one side to the other. As a child, I used to love seeing the adults playing a round of frisbee golf while I was playing on the elementary playground during school hours. The course isn't mapped to my knowledge, but locals will know which way to throw that disc.
The park consists of a huge green belt, a few tennis courts, a children's playground, a walking/bike path, and lots of natural landscape. There's a large eucalyptus grove with a seasonal stream. I remember there being a tree swing out there for a good while when I was a child, and also recall the dirt bike mounds back in the 1990s. Those were a great time and I'll admit that I was a bit sad when they were flattened.
I love that this space offers a touch of natural beauty in the midst of suburbia. It provides solace for neighbors and tourists alike. The path along the eucalyptus grove is just breathtaking and I'd recommend checking it out if you're looking for a mild way to spend an afternoon. read more
