My partner and I both switched to Evergreen for our Primary care. My partners primary is at the Elmwood & Hertel location and mine is at Elmwood & Chippewa complex and we are both very happy with our decision. Both locations are new and modern and there is a pharmacy on-site at both which is handy. When I forget to pick up an important Rx, I usually get a friendly phone call and they drop it off to me. The practitioners and staff are on the younger side and have fresh attitudes instead of former doctors that were old and just grinding out the same old thing. The whole experience feels more modern and patient focused. The Evergreen Health approach is open to all types of people and I live seeing people from the LGBT+ community there, but the atmosphere is inclusive and "traditional" families are equally at home. Imo, every practice should serve the full spectrum of a neighborhood's population. The care is top notch. I see that there are some negative reviews here ...and I have to say that it seems that there is more to the story than the person is telling... Like were they non+compliant with Rx or doctors orders or is there a behavioral problem? I recommend the practice to everyone that I know and I honestly believe that it is the best healthcare choice in our area read more

I have always been treated with respect, kindness, and care at Evergreen. They take patients confidentiality seriously and verify and double check HIPAA contacts at your appointments as well as making sure all of a patient's demographics are updated in their chart. They always verify with me if it is ok to text, mail, leave a voicemail. I appreciate that. I have been a long time patient of Evergreen and do not trust my care with anyone else. This is an amazing place to go for all your health care needs!! Firstly the Hertel Ave. location is such a wonderful place to go for primary care! Dr. Sulaiman is the best primary care physician! She is so compassionate, detail oriented, and really makes you feel comfortable. There is also a Quest Diagnostics location inside the clinic so you can have your blood work done after your appointment. The office is always clean and the staff is always smiling and inviting. The 206 South Elmwood location is just as amazing if not more. They offer mental health, substance abuse, harm reduction services, and many more options to assist you with your needs. Evergreen Health is an all inclusive Healthcare facility. I never knew they began as the "AIDS community service" back in the 80's until a friend asked me why I go to Evergreen. Omg! We are so lucky in Buffalo to have Evergreen Health. Evergreen Health has a primary care service that specializes in helping the LGBT community. They offer free PrEP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis), which reduces your risk of HIV by 99% if taken daily. They also do STI testing, which is also free. I switched to them for my Primary, and my Primary Care Provider is excellent! He helped me get the HPV vaccine (Gardasil 9). I went to 2 other providers, and they both denied me saying I was too old to get the vaccine. Not only did they help me get my vaccine, but they made sure my insurance covered it at no cost. They go above and beyond to make sure your healthcare needs are met. They also have a pharmacy, which makes it super convenient. Their pharmacy can deliver to your house at no cost, which is pretty incredible, especially during COVID-19 when you need to reduce the amount you go out. I definitely recommend Evergreen to anyone looking for a primary. read more

I've been going here for almost 10 years and I used to really respect the people that work here but my god has that changed. By far the worst clinic I've ever had the misfortune of going to. I've had nurses literally shrug at my health concerns. Appointments dropped without reason or warning. super rude receptionists who act like you're the jerk when it's their side who messed up. meds left on top of trash cans. meds completely not even delivered. no one calls you back, regardless of how pressing the concern is, and no one has any accountability. they do not care about you here. they do not care about you at all. I switched from my Dr who could never respond or ever get me in. Especially when I was always healthy and suddenly took a nose dive and went to the hospital 5+ times. I got Emily McKean on elmwood and boy was it a breath of fresh air. She actually listened, even though I have so many crazy issues. But I can tell she actually took my concerns for truth and didn't make me feel like a hypo. On top of that everytime I message them (I'm awake at night and that's when I have most of my issues) they always contact me and get me in or refer me somewhere that will help. The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the assistant I got when they wanted me to come in. She rushed me through the appointment, disregarded my feelings about what was helping and completely made me feel like I was making up my symptoms and/or acting as if it's not a big deal. I will request to see Emily going forward but I can understand how some may feel about other drs. But you can't take out one bad egg on a whole company. I also wish they were closer to me in south buffalo but that's my preference. Thank you Emily M. for truly listening to me and trying to pinpoint where all these issues are coming from. This place is incredible. The staff from nurses and doctors to reception are the most helpful people I have ever encountered at a medical facility. They treat you like family and are so detailed when you are a first time patient with no judgement whatsoever, I felt completely at ease for the first time ever at a doctors office. They are the most well ran doctors office I've been too. Out of the hundreds of people that work in the bUilding only one person was rude to me. Ekkk wish I didn't have to say that but it's true. I came here to get my top surgery signed off on, which they eventually did, but not before the head of mental health got a tip from my emotionally abusive mother that I occasionally struggled with suicidal thoughts. Even after I told him I was depressed, largely due to my dysphoria, but not a danger to myself or others, he threatened to call up my insurance provider and tell them not to grant me my surgery. So I have been seeing Jason Rein NP for about 9 months in order to be prescribed Truvada, or "PreP". PreP stands for pre exposure prophylaxis to prevent being infected with the HIV virus! Most gay men even qualify to get the medication for FREE! It is filled right at the Evergreen pharmacy and can even be delivered to your home free of charge. Aside from being tested for, and prescribed a medication to prevent HIV, but they also test you for all STIs. The methods they use to test you, and the care they delivered is just expertly geared to the normal LGBT individual. Most of the workers are LGBT themselves so it is literally dedicated to the care of our community and it shows. They offer so many services including primary care, counseling, psych services and so much more! The place is new, modern, clean and beautifully decorated and arranged. They do get ridiculous with data collection and questions about your personal level way beyond what I feel could possibly matter. I also have been an RN for 11 years and can recognize when any facility is delivering good or bad healthcare. We are truly blessed to have access to a place like this! In the sexual testing department where they test for HIV, STIs, and treat newly diagnosed HIV + people who are discovered every day and need to start meds is its own department separate from the primary care office and the psych office and social work etc and they also have a patient care technician named Xavier who is just as sweet as pecan pie and always so professional. Again, easy to talk to another gay person about all the issues relevant to us as gay, lesbian, or trans. Xavier is also just very friendly and extremely easy on the eyes. He's very helpful and very caring and always helps me get out quick! I really honestly always have a good experience. Jason the NP has sorta irritated me at times but you know what he's always been good to me and has been very thorough with my care I honestly can't complain about him. He's very intelligent and you can see he's dedicated to what he does and loves it .Parking stinks but that's just cause of the area it's in. You get caught in a recorded message loop and by the time you actually reach someone they typically are unfriendly and they sound like they read a scripted statements. They have inflexible robotic staff who rarely care. They pitch a glossy image but don't live up to it. You get drive through care. I would not recommend them. The main reason that i wanted to write a review about Evergreen is because i believe that it is a "life changing" decision that is literally a "life or death" decision for some. This place is above and beyond what my expectations were for where i was at on my life's journey. After several life and death surgeries due to gastric bypass, i was prescribed hydrocodone for a number of years. Due to a change in my insurance, i had to find a new doctor. Unfortunately, doctors are not able to treat their patients these days which causes their patients to find alternative means to solve their medical concerns. I was referred to a different place at first. SHAMEFUL, the way they treated me and everyone else that was there for HELP! Then i heard about Evergreen. What a difference!!!! NO SHAME ZONE! These healthcare PROFESSIONALS knock it out of the park every time i go. Corey, in particular, is a stellar human being with COMPASSION running through his veins. Meeting Corey was the turning point in my life that i so desperately needed. While in the waiting room for my first meeting with Corey, a current patient of Corey's was singing his praises. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! And BOY, DO I TALK! I share my experiences with the clients that I work with and I have shared what Evergreen is all about and who Corey is. Corey is really a bright spot at Evergreen because he truly shows compassion and empathy to all those who are BLESSED to be put in HIS schedule book. Frustrated with Evergreen. I joined here a year and a half ago and have called requesting sick visits twice since then. One for sharp pain in side unrelenting for over a week and this week for flu. Called on a Friday morning for the pain issue and was given an appointment the following Thursday? Called this Tuesday at 10 am for the flu (after it not going away for 2.5 weeks, inability to eat and fever) doc wants me to come in at 4:15 on Thursday? Almost three days later? My old doc gave same-day appointments for issues like this. I take the appt. because I literally can't eat and am getting weaker so what can I do? Get a call from financial services saying lapse in insurance. I knew this and am just waiting for my insurance to kick in so I will pay cash. No problem. My insurance pays around $75 to Evergreen for a sick appointment so I'll be out a bit of money but again what do I do? But that's not what they're going to charge me. I don't have a contract with them like my insurance does. They'll be charging me $190 for a sick appointment of about 15 minutes. This doesn't include lab work or prescriptions which I will more than likely need. I can't afford it so I cancel the appt. I'm sick now with no recourse. I will be leaving Evergreen. I like the doctors and staff I've dealt with but if they can't give a flu patient a same day appointment they've taken too many patients. There's also no reason they can't give uninsured patients the same rates they've negotiated for insurance companies. To charge us more than twice as much isn't fair and denies their own patients appropriate healthcare. read more

In person and in the moment, a great place. Far and away the shortest time in the waiting room of anywhere; NP willing to listen and consider patient's impressions and input. Never tempted to get a second opinion. Genuinely friendly, capable and professional nurses, phlebotomists, etc. Unfortunately, if there is any additional business where one would expect and deserve a phone call, a follow-up, or supplemental reading material, the ball is dropped every time. Referrals, follow-ups, additional information -- inexplicably, these things seem to be simply unavailable. "We'll have someone call you." No call. Even prescriptions can be maddeningly hard to obtain -- sometimes, not at all. But: will they inform you? How long will you sit and wait to find out? "We'll have someone call you." No call. All of these messy situations, for which an explanation is not forthcoming, bottom out in one place: "we'll have someone call you." Invariably, the call never comes. Had an injury, seemingly not an emergency, so I called asking whether I should hit the ER. "We'll have a nurse call you." No call. Had an appointment canceled by Evergreen. No call. Had another appointment canceled by Evergreen. "Can reschedule two months from now." Last straw. read more

This office has a serious issue with scheduling. I informed them when trying to schedule an evaluation that I would likely require an appointment on a Thursday or Friday, due to work and child care reasons. I was told that I would have to call back later to get anything available on those days, so I took the only available appointment, figuring I could call back and reschedule if I couldn't make the appointment, which I had made clear would be likely. Once I indeed confirmed that I would be unable to make the appointment, I called back several times to do so afterwards, and was unable to get to a person that could actually reschedule the appointment, so I ended up having to cancel without a new date so I could provide greater than 24 hours notice. When I called back today to reschedule, I was told that I would have to go through a supervisor review process before I could schedule a new evaluation! All because they could not accommodate an appointment on a Thursday or Friday! I would have gladly taken an appointment several weeks out, but was never given the option. I have wasted enough time with this "service", unless you have an entirely free schedule, I would suggest avoiding. read more
