Chop & Wok's menu ranges from stir fry wok dishes and Japanese ramen noodles, to various wraps, soups and Chinese appetisers. Various offers are available both in store and on Chop & Wok's website and a 10% discount is offered to students. On my visit, I went for a £4.90 lunchtime meal deal, which included a wrap or salad of my choice, prawn crackers and a drink. The char-grilled beef in my Thai-style wrap was delicious and I most certainly wouldn't hesitate to visit Chop & Wok again. The staff were polite, the service was rapid and the prices were brilliant!

Put down that flyer about a circus you won't go to and watch the show. Your eyebrows will be quite safe. The ordering is as quick as the prep, the 'wok' side of the menu (noodles and rice dishes) divided into three stages: noodle type, filling (chicken, beef, prawn etc) and spice, in escalating degrees of heat. Each of these ingredients within each 'stage' has its own corresponding number; perfect if you're too hungry to talk properly. As for the 'chop' component of It all, you pick your ingredients for a wrap, with extras such as duck rolls or Thai fishcakes available to supplement your folded tortilla if it won't touch the sides. The price isn't too shabby either. You can expect to put chilli and more on your tongue for around a fiver - a nice alternative to pizzas and burgers, with a sense your lunch hasn't been lying around since breakfast.

Staff were very polite even though my nephew nearly ruined their icecream machine Lol. Chic interior, with good lighting effect. I was also very impressed by the way the tables and chairs were arranged, which made it spacious. They also have a pub attached to the restaurant, from what I gathered, it used to be a pub. It also has a teppanyakki bar service, for all those who do not know what is a teppanyakki(hope I spelt it right)means it is basically a service which allows you to choose fresh ingredients such as meat, vegetable, noodle, sea food and sometimes sauce and then you hand it to the chef who cooks it in front of you, cool! It is much better if there is a wide range of variety. The choice of fresh ingredient was annoyingly limited in this restaurant and also it did not tast great, as the noodles was quite dry. It was very disapointing. The only problem I had with them was the price kids paid. Adults were charged £8.99 and children under 150cm where charged 6.99, I think that is ridiculous as most restaurant charge kids about halfprice of adult's fee.Especially as all my nephew had was some chips and sausages, Kids eh? Verdict: nice tasty buffet food, very tasteless teppanyakki Request: bring children's fee down and sort out your teppanyakki !

Pho cures all. Pho realz…read more It's a little bit out of the way for me considering that I usually hit up the city centre for things to nosh on. But when I found out that there was a proper Vietnamese restaurant in Birmingham, I couldn't pass it up. Even though hubs and I took the longer way to get there, I was so glad we did. (Well I was, if you read my profile, one of my favorite foods is pho. Some people can understand and appreciate the healing properties that this simple soup has; some people may just see it as a bunch of noodles with broth and a few pieces of meat. But the broth is seriously, like, elixir for me). First thing I noticed was that it was empty inside, but that was OK for me. There was a couple who had just finished their meals when we came in and paid their tab. The restaurant was very clean and so was the restroom. I opted for summer rolls and pho tai (pho w/brisket) while hubster chose chicken pho. Usually at a Vietnamese restaurant, he has a vermicelli bowl/broken rice with meat, so I don't know what made him go for pho this time. Whether he paid attention at all to what he ordered was another question. And when the bowls arrived at our table, all I could do was stare. (Not having had pho since December when I went back home to SD has been difficult). My inner self had the biggest cheeseburger grin once the scent of the broth hit my nostrils. The broth was a decent balance of anise and saltiness, and it wasn't too cloudy or dark either. Brisket was done nicely also. The spring rolls were nice and light also. This is real comfort food, I thought. More people need to experience it. I wasn't too fond of the wider noodles used in the pho, so I hope this gets corrected soon. But I think I've found my go-to spot when I need a pick-me-up, and I hope other people wanting Vietnamese food will appreciate it too.

It's a bit out of the way unless you're visiting the big Tesco store or the Spring Hill library, so you may have to put in a bit of effort to get there, but especially for groups it's probably worth it. Prices are very decent across the board with most mains well under £10. That means you can share several dishes amongst friends without breaking the bank. And that's probably the best way to experience the options here if you're as unfamiliar as I am. I've been twice and have to say I was much more impressed first time around. I made different choices for my order, was a chicken/rice combo of some kind, and just preferred it. This second time I had a chef special, which are sometimes not the best choice I find, of chargrilled chicken with rice. There is a lot on the plate, enough for two, but it was remarkably bland and certainly not 'special'. Don't get me wrong, it was nice enough, but the white rice just didn't do much while the chicken lacked flavour and punch. The iced lemonade was really good, a tad sweet maybe, but I could have gulped down a couple of those on what was a warm day. Desert was a tasty mix of banana, coconut milk and toasted peanuts. Worked out around £12 all in, so no complaints there. The service was good though a bit distracted, with the lady spending more time in the kitchen than out front. But I wasn't in any specific rush. Had I been in a lunchtime spin and needed fast service I may have felt different!

It was set about 15-min from the A6 but wow was it worth the detour! They have a massive menu with foods from all over east Asia. We decided to share a starter of salt & pepper short ribs. The husb opted for Singapore noodles (his favorite) and I was going to order spicy combination noodle soup but was recommended to try the Spicy Tom Yum Noodle Soup the was on the specials board. I love tom yum so it was a no-brainer to take the recommendation. The short ribs were delicious. Perfectly fried so they were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and they were covered in a delectable salt, pepper, garlic, and onion topping. (chef's kiss) The Singapore Noodles were a healthy portion and OMG the meat was SO TENDER. Sorry for yelling, but I needed to make sure everyone understood. Sometimes meat can be overcooked slightly and a little chewy, but they have perfected the art of meat here! The Spicy Tom Yum Noodle Soup was brimming with ingredients and was massive! The combination is their house mix of meats and seafood. Again, the meat was INCREDIBLY TENDER! The seafood was plentiful and also cooked to perfection. I was able to stop myself from stuffing it all into my face so I could wrap up a third of it for future me. I found both dishes to be decently spicy and the server let me know that both were level 1 spicy so I'll definitely kick it up a notch next time I'm back. I think the husb will happily stay at level 1 . The chefs come from Hong Kong and we gave our compliments to the chef over the short wall separating the kitchen from the dining area. This place is now a must-stop for us when we drive from London to the North and it should be for you too!

Asian fusion? Chinese crossed with Japanese and a side of vietnamese?…read more It's a bit hard to pin point the exact origins making up Wofon, but that's what makes it such an exciting treat. There are three steps when ordering -- choosing your noodles (or rice), topping and sauce. Noodles vary from the traditional Japanese ramen (wheat noodles), Udon (thicker wheat noodles), or perhaps a classic Chiense Dan Meen (egg wheat noodles). The toppings selection varies with Wofon special (selection of meats, prawn, roast pork), mixed seafood, or roast duck, for example. And lastly, the sauces. Selection can be Chinese Szechuan spicy, curry, or Japanese teriyaki. What I love about Wofon (aside from their amazing cheap prices) is that there is such a plethora of selection choices. You can order soup noodles one day, mixing noodles another, mixing rice, or wok fried rice. The selections are completely endless! I also strongly recommend the spare ribs with barbecued sauce as a starter. And the banana with vanilla ice cream as a dessert. And for £2.50, you can't beat the price. Enjoy!

I don't want to tell you about this place. Hidden in a small side street, (that you'd never know…read moreabout,) in between the grandiose frontages of Chung Ying and the twin stone lions of China court is Bath Passage. And in that small street lies the simply named Chinatown Noodle Bar & Take Away. This food is the real deal. Their speciality is Chinese Quarter Big Pot Noodles. These are long noodle soup meals served in huge bowls, and I dare you to try to finish one. There are 35 variations to chose from. The last on the list is capitalised and listed seemingly inauspiciously 'HELL RAMEN' (Beef or Lamb), but as it has the number 35 it is considered most lucky in Feng Shui. Drinks included the very 'now' Bubble Tea (where have you been?) and my standard , hot soy milk. If you want quick service you will get it here, hands down. In the time that it takes between ordering and getting the food on your table, you've hardly even time to even start on you drink. And that's good. Ok, Maybe not for an evening out, but for a weekday afternoon, the speed of service and everything about this place feels just right. But its our secret, right?

With a good selection of Oriental dishes (or sauces as the case may be) hailing from a number of regions (my favourite being the Chinese and Thai options) there should be a choice for most tastes. Start by choosing your base (egg or rice noodles, rice - option to make egg fried, or just veg) add your sauce (recommendations come in the form of black bean or the spicy Thai holy basil) and then choose any optional additions you would consider adding to a normal stirfry (good selection of meat available). Perhaps a few extra side dishes and some other starter style dishes wouldn't go amiss but then again that might defeat the quick lunch to go! The small interior fills up with your chosen flavours as they cook your food before your very eyes. They only have 3 small stools to sit on by the window, so you may have to take your food out if there is no space. What I really appreciated was that they prepare and cook all vegetarian dishes in separate areas, meeting dietary, ethical and religious requirements!.
