I've been going to Drat at Ever True for years to cover up a full frontal torso piece, and I trust him and the shop completely. So much so that I travel from New Orleans at least once a year to continue work on my piece. I interviewed multiple artists across Portland before choosing Drat to go on this wild self-reclamation journey with me. He was the most considerate, understanding, and ethical person I met. Having said all that, I highly recommend both Drat and the Ever True shop for work large or small. The space is impeccably clean, and I am ADAMANT about cleanliness, especially in tattoo shops. I have topical allergies and Drat is accommodating for that as well, with zero hassle. Also, I feel completely safe and protected, which is imperative considering the intimate and vulnerable placement of my work. If you want body art that is aesthetically beautiful and handled with total care, check out Drat at Ever True! All the staff I have met there have also been super respectful and their work is top notch. Go go go!!! read more

Not a big fan of this place or its owner Drat. I showed up to an appointment I made with him and he told me that he is going to be busy tattooing his friend and I could get tattooed by someone else at the shop that is available. The lack of respect for my time was unbelievable. This was the last time I went to him. It's been many years since then and I found that most of the tattoos I've gotten from here have been tattoos I have covered up. What a waste of time and money it's been. Had I just done a little bit more research I would have found plenty of shops with better artists and vibes. If you'd like your tattooer to act like he is all that and get over charged for mediocre tattoos that at best mimic real Japanese art then Drat is the guy for ya. read more

I got tattooed by Sequoia Rose. She was so kind and really made sure I got what I wanted and was happy to change the stencil as many times as I needed. She checked in with me throughout the tattoo and made sure I had everything I needed. I LOVE THIS SHOP! It was very clean and comfortable. I like that it is on the second floor. Very private and all the other artists were kind. read more

I was tattooed by Innokenty after finding his work on Instagram and flying all the way from Texas to have his work on my body. He was responsive to DMs and communicated succinctly but well. Because I was not local, we did my half sleeve in two consecutive days. He was gentle, but thorough, and we took breaks every hour (I took the time to swig sugary sodas). My tattoo is absolutely gorgeous and I'm thrilled. I can't wait to see how it heals. The shop itself is a lovely, huge shared space for all the artists with a great vibe and is behind a locked entrance so you don't worry about any randoms coming in and disturbing your session. While there I talked to Drat and Adam who both seem like sweet folks. Could not recommend Innokenty and his colleagues more. read more

10/10 experience at Ever True!! I got tatted by Dayton (@daytonskuse) and couldn't have asked for a better time :) This was my first tattoo and I felt very comfortable and welcomed. Dayton was very kind and an AWESOME artist (AND pricing was incredibly reasonable). Made my Ferdinand dreams come true. The studio was also noticeably very clean and had a great vibe. If I ever visit Portland again I would absolutely come back Thanks again! read more

My boyfriend and I both got walk-in tattoos from Dayton on a Friday. Even though he was the only artist working that day and there were a lot of walk-ins, he was super friendly, took his time and gave us great pieces. The shop is beautiful and Dayton's drawings are rad - I would definitely come back to get a traditional piece from his original work. read more

Dayton is the best! Most of my work has been done by him, and I've never been disappointed with a single piece. He's a great communicator and always considers my feedback when we are coming up with a design. It's not been easy since he moved away to find another artist, and when he comes back to the Bay, I jump at the opportunity to get more work done. Thanks for all the memories and laughs my guy! You've made every session great read more

I went to Scott U. for my tattoo. Really enjoyed his calm energy. I was afraid of the tattoo being painful because it had so much black. It wasn't painful!! He had a very light and gentle touch. AND my tattoo is Exactly what I asked for. And I'm picky. read more

Thank you Dayton!! Hands down my favorite tattoo artist in Portland! Not only is Dayton an incredibly talented artist, he's also one of the nicest humans I've had the please of meeting. I came into the shop with a weird tattoo request and wasn't sure if my idea would translate into a cool tattoo. Dayton not only was able to make my idea come to life, he made it even better than I could have ever hoped for. I've since gotten a few more tattooos, in different styles from him and they all have surpassed my expectations. Some of the tattoos are in areas hard to get a good photo of. Thank you again Dayton, I can't wait till I'm back in the area and get to add more awesome ink to my collection! You rock!! (The inchworm and the spider are two of my favorite little ones I've gotten by Dayton, we've done a lot more but these get the most compliments on a daily basis!) read more

i came here with my cousins for to get her birthday tattoo and also to get matching tattoos while we were visiting. we all had the privilege to get tattooed by Dayton for not only the matching tattoos but also each of us got our own individual tattoos as well. I have been to a handful of tattoo shops and this is one of my best experiences for sure!! Dayton really took care of us and made us feel welcomed as we were visiting from the bay area and he was able to squeeze all 3 of us in on a saturday. the shop was clean and i really appreciate Dayton putting up with us throughout our sessions. 100% recommend this shop and i love how all our tattoos came out ! read more

I was excited to have found an artist who specialized in Japanese tattoo art. First off the place was clean and spacious (hence why I didn't give 0 stars). The staff was nice. My tattoo was done in under 2 hours. My tattoo artist did a beautiful job, however....I ended up with impetigo and have been dealing with it for weeks now. On and around my tattoo I have water blisters and they itch. I also found out impetigo is contagious. There could've been many factors as to how I got this disease. But he took a smoke break and a phone call during my session and don't recall washing his hands. Unfortunately I am not going back due to this. read more

I had the most amazing session with Dayton Skuse here and Ever True. About 2 months before my appointment I sent him a photo of what I was trying to get done, and he kept in constant contact with updates. The day of my appointment I met him at the studio and we jumped right into it. When he showed me the design I couldn't have been happier. It was better than I could have even imagined! I chose a pretty tender spot on my arm but tried and powered through it. Dayton was a champ and finished so quickly! I'm literally obsessed and can't wait to go back for another tattoo! read more

I got my first tattoos here when I originally turned 18, and my tattoo artist was Scott. Scott made the appointment very comforting and explained everything to me since it was very obvious I was nervous. The entire experience was definitely something to remember and I just came in last night to get my tattoo touched up and he was like always, super friendly and awfully fun to hang out with. He really cares about his customers and I'm referring everybody I know to come in to get their tattoos done by Scott. p.s. all the other artists are super nice as well, they all complemented my style and nails yesterday while I was waiting for Scott to wrap up. Just very fun people to talk to. read more

Called the morning of to see about waitlist availability for the day. Was told they had some spots at 3:00pm and since I'm out of town I decided to go ahead and head there. Once I finally got there (thanks PDX traffic) they didn't have any spots available. However, once I explained the situation, how I'd spoken to someone on the phone that morning and how I had driven all the way there, they said they could squeeze me in. I was able to get tattooed by the owner Drat and he did an amazing job! He was very personable and checked on me several times throughout the session. Turned out exactly how I pictured. read more

Everyone in the shop was chill and friendly, the shop had a welcoming and professional vibe - and Toni, the tattoo artist who worked with us, was amazing. He worked quickly but was personable - and even answered my long text messages and fit me in the day after when I decided to add a couple elements. Highly recommend Toni and Ever True. My siblings and I had an amazing experience at Ever True! Everyone that I had talked to leading up to the appointment and once we got there was so kind. This was my first tattoo experience (naturally I was riddled with anxiety) and Davis made the whole process so chill and so easy. I will admit, I was a pain in the ass and had him redo the sketch a few times but he was such a trooper (and again so kind) and listened to exactly what we wanted and delivered well beyond our expectations. He eased the nerves, was so friendly and easy to talk to, and did a beautiful job. Overall, 10/10 would recommend Ever True and ESPECIALLY Davis!! Covid related - the shop did a fab job and cleaning stations and keeping distance with other clients for anyone that's a little nervous during this time. read more

I've had a lot of tattoos, but ever true stands tall at the top of the heap. The shop itself is extremely clean, open and inviting. The owner, Drat, has done all my work there and it's very clear that he is a quality over quantity kinda guy. Rather than burn through some design so he can get another sucker in the chair he pours over details with a level of craftsmanship one always hopes for but seldom finds when it comes to a permanent art piece. He's patient but opinionated. He knows his craft and if a piece isn't going to come out the way you think it will he will let you know AND come up with a way that it WILL work. He has saved me from at least a few ideas that sounded better in my head-THANKS DRAT! Of all points I would say his line work is what impresses me most. I can't draw a geometric shape on paper to save my life, and this dude is putting multiple in perfect alignment on a wriggling, mushy, 3D form....wild. read more

Great stop for last minute tattoos! They accept walk ins and have pretty good art and ink!

My husband and I were in town for the day. We decided to get spontaneous tattoos. Googled some places and I went with this shop because of good reviews and ability to walk in. Before coming in, I called to make sure first that there's an availability for walk in at that time. Luckily, there was. We were greeted by Adam, who also was the one who tattooed me and my husband. NO REGRETS! Not only Adam's work is amazing but he's also very personable and very easy going. I definitely recommend Adam for your visions to come alive. read more

The artist, Rinette (spelling?), took her time working with me on a design I brought in. We discussed a few different options before deciding on a final version. I really enjoyed working with her and the finished product looks amazing. Everyone in the shop is open and friendly. I had an amazing experience here! The shop is beautiful and full of light, the artist are professional and timely. I booked an appointment with Scott and he had mean the table within 5 minutes of arrival. Very prompt, very professional, very kind demeanor. He made sure my art was positioned well and checked in with me several times to be sure I was doing ok. He encouraged me to take a break if I needed to and was very thoughtful through the whole process. It was reasonably priced and overall one of the best experiences I have had with a tattoo artist.
