Redland Family Farm - The Hanger building

Redland Family Farm

(25 reviews)

A Dream Wedding Venue with Amazing Owners!…read more We had our daughter's wedding at Redland Family Farm, and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful or accommodating venue. From the start, Adelle and Tim were so patient and helpful, even with the many questions and requests we threw their way. They always responded with kindness and made the entire process so much easier for us. They went above and beyond on the wedding day--Adelle even helped turn simple cheesecloth into gorgeous curtains, creating a warm and romantic entryway for the bride and groom. The venue itself is stunning, with two separate suites for the bride and groom to get ready, a large parking lot for guests, onsite staff to assist throughout the day, and the most breathtaking oak tree and sunset views you could imagine. Adelle and Tim are such a wonderful couple to work with, and their property is truly a gem. If you're looking for a venue that combines natural beauty with caring, hands-on owners, Redland Family Farm is the perfect choice!

You can tell it's a family-run space, and that makes all the difference. We got married on a chilly summer solstice day with unexpected rain, and Tim was constantly stoking the fires to keep everyone warm and cozy. Even with the weather, there were so many beautiful, usable spaces for our guests to enjoy. The property is breathtaking in every direction, rain or shine! Adele and Tim were the kindest, most accommodating hosts. The whole day felt warm, welcoming, and so well supported. If you're looking for a venue that's as thoughtful as it is gorgeous, this is it. We are so grateful we chose Redland Family Farm - it was the best decision we made, and we would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat!

The ceremony was across the bridge at the back surrounded by the trees and opposite the mini saloon which was really cool. They seem to have heaps of different packages available and the one my cousin used seemed to be quite flexible and we got to decorate the venue and do catering ourselves. There is plenty of parking and the grounds are fantastic to bring a few outdoor games for the kids to play with too to keep them quite during the wedding. There are a few bridges you can walk across and a small creek which was stunning for photos. The inside looks like a barn but with the lights and everything the ambiance was perfect. The wedding I attended had a space for a cake corner, candy bar, photobooth upstairs, and food was served buffet style both indoor and out. There is a loft area for the bride to get ready and the one downside was the groom got a small stuffy room in the corner to change which could really have used a fan or something as it was an 85F day. Overall facilities were clean and well attended with a large fridge and bathrooms are unisex and spacious. Beautiful spot for an event!

The setting was the ideal blend of rustic charm and elegant country chic. Our ceremony took place under the trees, nestled between the fields and vineyards--a truly magical backdrop. One of their cows even joined in to "approve" our vows, which made the moment unforgettable and so uniquely Postlewaitt's. Cocktail hour near the ceremony site was serene and inviting, giving guests the perfect opportunity to mingle and enjoy the scenery. The reception in the barn was just as wonderful--the roll-up doors created an easy flow between indoors and outdoors, exactly the atmosphere we envisioned. The farm tables and antique mismatched plates available through the venue were absolutely perfect, adding so much character and completing the warm, inviting atmosphere we were looking for. Our guests continue to compliment the venue and its idyllic setting. The view of Mt. Hood in the background left a lasting impression and made the day feel even more special. Jacqueline was a joy to work with--knowledgeable, responsive, and always ready with great suggestions. Her recommendation to partner with Carpe Diem Wedding Planning was the icing on the cake and made everything run smoothly. I wouldn't change a single thing about our day. We would choose Postlewaitt's again and again and recommend it wholeheartedly to any couple looking for a stunning venue and a team that truly cares.

Newell Pioneer Village

3.5 stars. Worth seeing if passing by or staying in the next-door park. Takes about an hour…read more Five mid-1800's era buildings: the Newell house (the only building in its original location), a large log cabin, a schoolhouse, and a jail. Lots to see in the cabin and in the house. We particularly enjoyed the cabin, as it had many antique tools, and much antique kitchenware and furniture. We didn't see the inside of the jail. Nothing to see apparently, as it is just a wood blockhouse with a dirt floor, and only ever had one inmate. For one night. (His pig apparently escaped and did some damage to the neighbors' gardens). It would be helpful if there was a brochure with a map and description of the various collections. AAA discount available.

I visited two of the four buildings: 1) a spacious log cabin built as a tribute to the Pioneer Woman in 1931, later relocated up here to get out of harm's way from flooding. 2) the restored Newell House, built in 1852, on a hill above what was the town of Champoeg. When the town was destroyed in the flood of 1861, all 200 residents shared the house in the aftermath. The upstairs of the Newell House houses a display of actual evening gowns of Oregon's First Ladies from the beginning until 1992, quite interesting. Knowledgeable and friendly guides tailor the tours and stories to the visitor's interests. The grounds are pleasant and well-tended. All in all, a nice place to visit.
