I joined back in 2013 as a member at 28yrs old. This club is great for making connections of quality. I've made friends that I would never have otherwise. I've been able to cross house boating and Tough Mudder off my bucket list. I regularly attend the hikes and enjoy spending time in nature. I'm really excited to go to The Flying U Ranch with the club for 2023's May long weekend. It's going to be epic! I can cross that off my bucket list too as I've wanted to go there with the club for years! There is something and someone for everyone here. I've seen people form lasting friendships, relationships form, marriages happen and babies be born all from joining this club. 10 years in the club is trusting review. Don't believe all the hate you read. Ask yourself how a review can be one star when the club has 4s and 5s? How many 1stars dove into the adventure and became a member? Not many if any. I always say you get what you put in. Be kind to yourself and allow yourself to have fun on your adventure of being single with us. Who knows , you might surprise yourself in meeting someone or laughing at silly 1 star reviews. read more

My membership ended in January 2024 and not a day too soon! Regretted it from my first event. The "interview " is BS - it started with "Are you separated, divorced or never married?" when I said none of these she was confused and asked the same question again. I wasn't going to excuse her ignorance and let her off easy with an answer but was forced to swallow my pride and say I'm widowed. They offered me many different membership lengths and prices (special offers and discounts) the longer I took making a decision the more bonuses thrown in. In hindsight I probably could have negotiated a better deal. This is NOT a dating club (in Vancouver it's mostly women), completely disorganized, the Vancouver manager changed 4 times in my 2.5 years. The website and calendar are outdated but company refuses to modernize it. I joined for the international travel but only went on 1 trip which was nice but I heard from others some trips were disorganized. It's a second rate organization don't waste your time and money. Note: Vancouver is the only non-American chapter of this California based company read more

Got talked into signing up, saying I could get a "reasonable refund" if I gave it a fair shot and didn't like it, and then once I did and found out the demographic really didn't match me in my city Vancouver (which should have been communicated upfront).. I emailed support asking for a refund and they just gave excuses and eventually ignore me... I.e. they won't give me back any of the THOUSANDS of dollars they conned me out of! Avoid at all costs. read more

I only got to the 1.5 hour "screening interview" stage over zoom with this supposed "dating" service. For the first 5-10 mins my interviewer had the video on while talking to me, and she was nice enough to exchange introductions with. Then for the next hour she turned off the video function on her end, which seemed a bit odd to me, but kept up with asking me semi-personal questions about why I am still single, which I was polite enough to be earnest and somewhat vulnerable in my answers. Then, for the last maybe 15 mins of our chat, she turns the zoom video function back on, then does the ol' "taking off her sweater" routine to show a more revealing halter top on underneath for some reason...I'm not totally sure why she would do that though? At this point, the rest of the "interview" consisted of her trying her best to persuade me to sign up for a two year contract that would have cost me something over $2000, and I guess she did her best to dangle some extra months for free and said I could pay in installments as well. I asked her if I could think about it because I wasn't prepared to commit right then and there, and she said that if I wanted to take advantage of the "extras" in the "amazing deal" she was giving me, that I would have to decide right then and there. Well, I NEVER make a purchase under pressure like that, so I politely told her I would have to decline. At this point, she was rather curt with me while ending the zoom chat with me. Strange how that happens. After that experience, I checked out all the horror story 1-star reviews and complaints here on the BBB website, and then it all made sense to me. All the 4/5-star reviews here seem rather sus too, way too vague and general. I feel incredibly fortunate for not falling for this total scam of a company, and my heart goes out to everyone who gave-in to the high pressure sales tactics. Only a THREE DAY window to cancel?!?!? Yikes. This company is a dumpster fire. AVOID AVOID AVOID. read more

If i could put 0 star i would At first sight this is a beautiful and well organized program, somewhat a little expensive but they offer a service so someone gotta get paid But that isn't the problem, first they will do everything to make you sign, worst than a car dealership! Second if you want to cancel you have 24h 24h to realize this isn't for you and then they start keeping a big part of your money and after 4 days you will receive half of your membership So i called to cancel after i look into the program I know its covid and in canada there is a lot of restriction but for a 100$ Month membership where you are supposed to meet people and there is only online activities 4-5 time a week for 30mi to an hour 100$ isnt worth it at all. So they will try to make you stay with some car dealership talk almost aggressively and wont take no for an answer very abusive attitude. This could have been a nice experience but it wasnt. After 5 days following my call to, i received an email stating i had to write a letter and send it to them. A registered letter cost 30$ no thank you! So i sent it by normal mail and its going to take 10 days. You can't sent an email and they will not sent your money back until they received the letter So overall i will have waited 21 days to get my 2195$ that i paid for a 2 years membership when it took 30 min for the payment to get out of my account. All they want is your freaking money Hereby exactly why the world despite American read more

Events and Adventures is an amazing place to meet people in an organized manner. They have fun events every day and with the ever lasting changes with the pandemic it gives me the opportunity to have a fun virtual night with the different events. Before the pandemic started I went to a few events in person and it was really fun and well organized. Some of the fun events are trivia night, bowling, cards against humanity, ice breaker events to allow new members to feel at ease in a relaxed setting. read more

It's been 11 months in this club and I made lots of friends and meet many great people too. I'm a workaholic person and I hardly align my time for fun in my life, but after joining this club all my weekdays and weekends are packed with fun events. I would like thank one of the event host Kalyn brown, she is very caring, lively, responsible and positive women has ability to handle different personalities and make the event successful read more

Excellent place to meet new people and make new friends. Don't listen to Elle L's review. If you look at her profile you'll notice all the one stars she gives out like she won a one star lottery. Anyways, E&A is lots of fun! Only if you make it fun and take advantage of the fun. read more

Sexist organization Pro: If you're male you will pay less and get more than your female counterparts Cons: It's a long list, grab a cup of tea. Vancouver can be a difficult place to meet new people. Following a less than desirable experience with "Meetup", Events & Adventures (E&A) seemed like the next logical step to help expand my social circle. While the website left a lot to be desired (costs, age ranges, etc), I decided to pursue joining anyway. The interview process is meant to suss out what you're looking for by asking a long list of personal questions followed by a one-on-one interrogation with a sales expert. It also serves as a screening process to eliminate "undesirable"candidates which was my chief concern after being harassed by someone I met at a Meetup. I was introduced to detailed (past) calendars of events to show what the club had to offer. Many of the events I saw were very appealing and seemed abundant throughout the months, with the sales associate touting "you'll never have a free weekend again if you don't want to". What I didn't know was that the event manager had just been replaced and the events would be changing - I'd soon learn this was a core complaint amongst members who had experienced this crossover of management. While some events would cost extra (ie paying for you own dinner/drinks), the sales associate reassured me that most events would be covered by your monthly fee of around $130. Plus a downpayment of an additional fee of about $1,500 for a 12 month membership. I was given several options for membership of 1 or 2 years, or $5,000 for a lifetime membership. I had asked if there were any shorter time periods, maybe six months? No, that is not an option (I would come to find out this to be a blatant lie). It wasn't until after attending a few events that I would find out the real truths. First, membership prices are completely subject to the sales pitch manager. After speaking with over a dozen other members, it was plainly evident that different people were charged very different amounts, and some were given an extra 1-3 months tacked on for free. The most atrocious grievance was that the men typically were charged less and given more complimentary months. Oh, and the only free events are going for hikes or dinner/drinks where you don't order anything. There were a variety of individuals whom I was able to meet, with the majority being either younger or older than my 30 years. Cliques had been long formed before I got there. I hope at least one person learns from my experience but I do wish you happy adventuring if anything stated above appeals to you. read more

1 out of 5 is too high of a rating for this group. I agree with everyone that they are money grabbers from hell. They sell you on one thing and what you get is something else entirely. I wish I had paid closer attention to the fine print and cancelled within the 3 day period, instead I went to my first event about 6 days after joining and by that time, once I knew what it really was, it was too late. They've offered for end my membership for the low sum of $937.50. I DEEPLY regret joining this group and would advise anyone who asks not to. read more

Disclaimer; not a member of EA. I just got out of what I thought was just going to be a brief information session. I was initially annoyed because they in their directions in the email they told me to park in a parkade which doesn't exist anymore due to construction, and clearly hasn't in a long time. So I had to spend about 20 minutes finding a new place to park...which at 5 on a Friday in Vancouver can be frustrating. I thought it was unprofessional to not update the email. So when I finally got to the office I was asked to fill out a questionnaire, I didnt think the questions pried as much as others have on here and I answered all of them. I was then greeted by my "screener" Jessica, she was very friendly and quite attractive. She gave me her spiel, and it all actually sounded very interesting and exciting. There were lots of events that were right up my alley. But then I saw a lot of these events you had to pay for. Even though you are paying a fee for membership. For example, a comedy club. You still have to pay to go to the comedy club. Well why wouldn't I just go to the comedy club. I can bring a date to the comedy club on my own. But the REAL kicker was the membership fees. The lowest priced one is $2700 for a year. Not only is this extremely steep, but I didn't get told of any cancellation option. So Jessica asked me which option I was interested in...of course I said the cheapest one (there are $5000 memberships)....so she then asked me if I'd like to pay the whole fee today or put a $500 deposit on the monthly option! I said I thought I was just gathering information today. She then got extremely pushy, and started badgering me with lower deposit options and then admitted that the lowest deposit was $100. She then offered me 6 months extra if I laid a deposit today. She actually even said earlier in the "screening" that I probably spend more than the monthly fee on my dates anyway so what do I have to lose. Somehow she convinced me to take a photocopy of my driver's license because I said I was mulling it over and needed 24 hours to think about it. She said "well, most people don't come back if they dont sign up on the first day". Yeah, because they read reviews and I've never seen anything so unprofessional as their sales pitch. She went from sweet as pie, to extremely aggressive and borderline rude in a snap of a finger and it turned me off I a heartbeat. I would not recommend wasting your time going to one of these "screenings" read more

Cool club to meet decent people and do fun things. I joined after my divorce and it has been a life saver for me. I have enjoyed every event that I have went to. Would have to say the camping trips have been my favorite. There is a good mix of people so I have never felt uncomfortable or out of place. Yes, it does cost some money, but what doesn't? I have found it well worth the cost. read more

Money Grabbers from Hell. Please do not waste your money on this company. I spent $2650 for their 3 year membership, there is a no refund policy after 3 days signing up. I wanted to quit after my 2nd try with Events and Adventures, since it was not for me. Being a single girl in my early 20's 3 years ago, the club was mostly for people 35+... The events manager will tell you anything to get in. When I wanted to quit my subscription, they said I'd be wasting my $2650. 3 years later, since I didn't use their services and forgot about the 30/month subscription fee.Without a Warning, I got a non-payment notice saying that I was owing $1800! So, not wanting my credit to go bad, I had to pay the 30/month subscription where I didn't even use their service, and the lady told me all she could do was to lower to the lowest.. $600 for the subscriptions fee. I felt super ripped off. BAD SERVICE, BAD BUSINESS. You'd be better off spending your money else where for dating or event services. read more

First of all, I am not a member of Events and Adventures, nor will I ever be after my experience. Being a single gal in this city, a friend suggested I look into Events and Adventures after hearing an advertisement on the radio. I went to the website, and was a bit annoyed how there was no description of the sign up process, or what to expect. All that was clear was that before being approved, you actually meet with a staff member. That seemed alright--at least that would mean that they filter out the creeps, weirdos, and scammers, right? So I signed up, and received a confirmation email as well as a phone call from an employee, a woman called Terry, asking me to call her back when I could. I wasn't able to call that day, but I called back the next day. As per the message, I asked for Terry, but a guy, Matthew, said that she was on another call and that he could help me. I really wanted to just speak with Terry, but since I was calling during my lunch break, I couldn't easily have her call me back, or call her later. So I agreed to allow Matthew to help me instead of playing phone tag. Right off the bat, Matthew started going into a spiel about the group and sign up process. He was talking so damned quickly without taking a breath (it was quite unprofessional, really), that I had to tell him to slow down. He seemed really annoyed about that, like I was an idiot for not understanding him. He slowed down somewhat, and the very first question he asked me, in an abrupt manner, was, "Have you been married before?" That really bothered me. I questioned him about why he was asking me that particular question, and he said, quite rudely, that they want to make sure that the people who join are actually single, and not just separated. I understand that, but he should have asked, "Are you single?" and then taken it from there. He asked the married question in such an accusatory and judgemental way as well. And why even assume that I've been married before?! Sheesh. And when I asked him about it, he muttered something like "Jesus christ" (I can't remember exactly what he said, but it was something that you mutter to yourself when you're annoyed, and it was very rude and unprofessional). And then I asked him if there is a membership fee. He tried to avoid answering, but I insisted. He finally reluctantly said that membership fees were around $100 to $150 per month, and I said that I was not thrilled that there was no mention whatsoever about membership fees on the website. He said that the reason why they don't mention it is because the price depends on certain factors. Yeah, I get that they might not have the exact price on the website, but I think it's scammy to not even mention a membership fee! If the website had said that there was a high price to join, I wouldn't even have wasted my time to sign up and speak to someone! He also tried to evade answering me when I asked how old the members are (I don't want to bother signing up if all the members are much older than me), and said, rudely (big surprise), "I know you're curious and inquisitive, but this is the way the club runs." Anyway, he continued to be rude and condescending throughout the rest of our conversation, and I outright told him that he was RUDE, and said that I'd rather talk to Terry, and asked when she'd be free. He then said that she wasn't working today. Um, he said that she was busy on the phone not ten minutes before. SUSPICIOUS. Who knows if Terry would have been any better, but I had such an unpleasant experience with Matthew, and my impression was SCAM. After seeing the other Yelp reviews, I can see that my instincts were right. Even if I did interview with them, they probably wouldn't select me because I'm not good looking enough, or rich enough, or whatever. Good riddance. read more

I joined E & A at the tail end of December 2020. I have not had the chance to go to inperson events as of yet due to COVID. So far I have been enjoying the virtual events. I like the trivia nights especially. Life is what you make of it. I was tired of sitting at home feeing sorry for myself. I decided to put myself out there. I am glad there is a host for the events. I look forward to meeting everyone in the flesh, rather than over a computer screen. While yes it is expensive to join, if you do a lot of free events it is worth it. I am a single mom and I am most interested in game nights and hiking. MY kids are no longer interested in doing those things with me, so this seems like a good place to start. read more

My rating is 10 thumbs down. These people are disgusting to me. Fake is a understatement. They are thieves. Even if you loose your job & cant pay them or Even if you don't like the service they provide they will still bill you no matter what. They say whatever you want to hear to get you to sign up. You know when a place is bad, when they get rid of the option for people to review them on Facebook. This is what E&A Vancouver have now done. At the same time, they have got rid of all their 5 star fake reviews by employees of the company. They are scammy. They won't give you prices over the phone, instead you get a high pressure sales talks (or more appropriately sales BS) at their head office. Then they want you to sign up for a fee of around $3,000 for 3 years. The worst part is that the $3,000 doesn't include fees to events so you paying a company for nothing. Don't give them any money and don't listen to their BS. Use meetup.com instead read more

Please spare yourselves the time, money, and stress that I had from involving myself with this company. The price and the policies are not readily available to consider unless you are physically in a membership meeting with a very high-pressure sales team member. If I had the opportunity to review the information and fine print at my own leisure, I would have NEVER signed up. I was laid off from my job only a few months after joining a 1 year membership, and phoned E&A asking for any sort of assistance since I could no longer afford the service and wanted out of the contract. Aside from deferring my payments for 3 months (max.) I was directed to call the financing department. My only response from the financing department was I was past the 24-hour membership cancellation period and that was that. It is one of my biggest regrets spending over $2000 for the "privilege" of paying more money to attend individual events that you could do on meetup.com for free. read more

I joined E&A when it was relatively new in Vancouver. There was no in person interview, and the cost was not huge, but they had me commit to a year. I am not sure how much has changed since then, but activities were always posted LAST MINUTE. As a single parent, I could not attend same day events without arranging childcare! The schedule of events was super lame, and any fun things would be added last minute, which prohibits anyone with responsibilities to attend! The people I met were awkward and more or less misfits, but maybe I am too? When I could not join in the last minute activities and there were NO good events I could PLAN to attend with a bit of notice, I asked for my money back. At first they did not give it back, but then after some persuasion on my part, I did get a full refund. My nanny does events through meetup - I would recommend meetup! E&A is a scam, and by the sounds of it - a very pricey one nowadays! read more

Events and adventures is a HUGE scam. 1 star is too many!!! The guy who 'helped' me (Dan) was pushing so hard from the get go. What a slimy salesman. It felt like such a rip-off from the second I walked in. He was choked when I didn't want to sign up in that first meeting and actually heavy sighed and said "well what are you even doing to meet men?" as if he could judge me about that! I am incredibly unhappy with my membership. I started out going to a few events, but I felt really uncomfortable at them. I think this is based on the fact that people were typically quite a bit older than me, and the people I met seemed to be of a different mindset than I am. (Ex: the only person I thought was maybe hitting on me has children my age.) I haven't been to many events since the first month because I didn't enjoy the experiences that I had. To be fair, I should have educated myself more on the cost before I signed up as well. If you aren't aware, like I wasn't at the time, the cost to join is around $2000 per year. This was told to me after an hour long interview. Also, if you're like me, you have a hard time saying no after you have gone through an hour long interview. So I slid across my credit card, all the while having my head tell me to walk away. But I wanted to go out more and hoped to meet someone I'd like to spend more time with and figured that, as they said, most events after the initial cost are free. This isn't exactly true. You can go to an event for free, say mini golf, but you will have to pay to rent clubs. Or, you can go to a games night, but if it's at a restaurant, you probably should order something so you're not the jerk sitting with a water taking up a table. After I spoke to a representative about how I was unhappy, they suggested other events that I could try that would have more people my age (basically hiking or expensive additional costs were my primary options). I went to one, and again, I felt like I would have rather have been there alone. Maybe my extensive solo travel has made it so that I prefer my own company to making small talk... I don't know. The people there are nice enough, and if you're lonely or new to the city, I can see how it would be a great experience, but it wasn't for me. Unfortunately, it was the most expensive life lesson I've learned about going with my gut and not just being pressured into buying something. read more

My experience with Events and Adventures has been phenomenal, I thought the interviewers did an excellent job at letting people know what to expect from the club, but the negative reviews seem to come from expecting something other than what E&A is all about. E&A is mainly about enjoying fun activities and through those activities making new friends. Yes it is a singles club, but beyond what is required to become a member, nothing is done to facilitate matchmaking, they let you know this is not a dating service. There are a bunch of really awesome activities every week, (and the Event Manager Michelle Apples is nothing short of a creative genius when it comes to arranging fun, creative events, she pretty much lives and breathes E&A), during which you have natural conversation with the others you event with, and sometimes there are additional gathers post event to relax and talk all of which allows people to form natural connections with each-other, possibly even romantic ones. As you would expect, this set up appeals most to people who suddenly need to re-establish or supplement their friendship circle due to friends starting families or re-locating for work. The membership fee also tends to appeal only to those who have a decent job. All of this means a lot of the members are in their 30's+ because that's when when people are most likely to find themselves single, with a decent job and in need of a new friendship circle, but there is a good showing of younger people as well, because: well, it's damn fun too. If you are are uncertain I'd say do the month-to-month until you've decided, and I'd highly recommend going on one of the camping trips: I've been on 3 so far and every single one has resulting in amazing stories and new connections. Also the club offers a month-to-month option which I did not pick personally, but is a great choice if you are on the fence about the quality of the events. read more

History
Established in 1987.
People join Events & Adventures for many reasons, but the most common are: They are looking to get out of the house and have more fun. They are looking to make new friends. They are hoping to find someone special to spend their life with. Which is it for you? When I started the club over 30 years ago, the answer was "numbers one and two. Once I had those I suddenly found three. I met my wonderful wife in the club, but along the way I went skydiving for the first time. I climbed to the top of Mount St. Helens and shared a frosty beverage with a group of members as we threw rocks off of the rim of the crater. I've frozen my butt off white water rafting the Chilliwack river in British Columbia (emphasis on "Chilli"). A 20 person hot tub never felt so good. But most of all I met hundreds of amazing and wonderful people, many of whom became close personal friends. Finally, I met the most wonderful woman in the world. Not bad for an "activities club". ~ Mark Owen, Founder
Meet the Business Owner: Mark E.
I was suddenly single and looking for a club where I could have fun with other singles and not get in a serious relationship right away, at the time there was nothing like Events and Adventures so I started one! It was only later that we noticed a lot of people were getting married. I realized that when you relax and have fun that is when you are the most attractive to other people. We now run over 400 events every month in Canada and the US

The camping trip to Barefoot Beach Resort in Penticton was an unforgettable experience and I am so glad I participated. Firstly I would like to give a big thank you the host, and our Event Manager in Vancouver, Michelle Apples. I'm not sure how she came across this little piece of paradise but she selected just the right location and then proceeded to put her heart and soul into making the weekend as memorable as it could be for everyone. She is a great leader, puts in a ton of effort, and always presents herself in a kind and charismatic fashion. She is truly a beautiful person inside and out! Thank you also to all the other hosts within the Vancouver club that came out camping for the weekend. They are a great support cast, and they followed through with more of the same this weekend. They can be approached at anytime to answer any questions you may have and helped out a lot making all the events and activities within the weekend go as smoothly as they possibly could, and believe me there was lots to do! And to all the members of E&A and their guests that made it out camping thank you to you as well. This club has such a large number of unbelievable people all willing to help each other out, which in turn makes everything that much more enjoyable. I was unfortunately one of the late arrivals to the campsite, and it was the early stages of twilight at this point, but within seconds I was directed right to the tenting area by a fellow member and again within seconds of unpacking my tent I was greeted by fellow members willing to shine flashlights and even assist me with their tent building expertise. I'm glad I was able to spend time with the great majority of them and pleased to say that I enjoyed every moment. There were endless possibilities of things to do, but one that really stood out for me was the wine tour in the Naramata region. As with all the E&A events this one was extremely well organized, and provided to us were two buses with very professional drivers. We were all quite well presented, especially the numerous ladies that decided to wear dresses. Who knew so many campers would bring along dresses. But yet another example of how an ordinary wine tour can become an extraordinary experience just with some planning and a great group of people, courtesy of E&A! All five winery destinations provided an excellent wine tasting experience, one even came with cheese, crackers, fruit, sliced meats, pickles, and chocolate. Our second winery provided us with an exquisite lunch on an outdoor patio with remarkable views. Actually all the wineries came with remarkable views and great photo opportunities. The event was a great excursion and thank you to everyone that made it possible. Another fond memory that stood out for me was the lazy float event down the channel of water that connects the Sushwap Lake to the Okanagan Lake. Just a few minutes walk from our resort was the end of the channel and also the location to catch a bus up to the start of the channel. With a $5 bus ride and a $2 inflation fee for all tubes, it was an extremely cheap way to spend an afternoon basking in the sun as you relaxed down a calm peaceful channel that acts like a slow moving river, consistently spanning 25 to 30 feet in width. It was a great turnout, my guess would be 50 riders. We had an eclectic yet incredible selection of floaties, all mingling about with an eclectic yet absolutely incredible group of people! The float lasted just under 2 hours, but can last anywhere from 3 to 4 hours depending on the speed of the currents that day. Some people were so into it they decided to go again. But I along with others opted for sunning on the beach nearby instead, which led to drinks and early supper snacks at a Mexican restaurant located right on the resort as well! To quote a fellow member, 'these are the greatest group of peeps.' And it is so true, it's like you are the extended family I never had. And the good kind too, the ones you wish you could get together with on every special occassion. Well this Penticton trip was very special to me, and I hope it's a start of a new tradition. I would personally invite back every single one of you that took part in this excellent adventure. Thank you to all that made it possible!!! :D read more

Left the club. Found it overpriced. They need to be upfront with what they really do. They say they aren't a dating service but when you sign-up, they will use the fact that you are single and that this is a place to meet quality singles to pursue a relationship. It's high pressure sales to a point where you really think they are there to help you find "the one" when it's just really a business. They need people to sustain their business and they will do anything and everything to get you in. I joined because I thought it would be fun and interesting but I quickly got bored. They were some nice people but after awhile, I just wasn't into the club and regret joining because I could have just done things on my own instead of getting stuck paying $75 bucks a month and still had to pay for going to play volleyball and other sports. What's the monthly fee for when I have to pay additional fees for the events. The monthly fee should cover that but I found that I was spending more and more for what? I didn't even meet my special someone there. They still encourage you to go even if you have a boyfriend because they don't consider that being engaged or married. Well, why would I jeopardize my relationship for a club? I'm also living in a another province now and they still expect me to pay their fees. Forget it. I would advise not to join this club because they are just after your money. I'm sure you will meet some nice people. It's not the people but the policies they have in place. They also exaggerate that they have weddings every month from people meeting at the club. Right. Whatever. It's a business and they are only after staying in business and hooking in members. It's an overpriced club that is there to give you the illusion that you are saving money for events when you still have to pay a hefty down payment and monthly fees for some memberships or they give you the so called lifetime membership which cost close to $5,000 and you pay $75 a month and they won't let you off even if you move to another province or country. That's just plain wrong. Why should I continue paying for a service I'm not satisfied with and can't even use anymore. They are out there with their radio ads too so--BUYER BEWARE. You only have three days to cancel but they won't tell you that. They don't disclose a lot of things. They will give you the play-up and it sounds great in the beginning but...that's it. It's an overpriced club. Better to do it on your own if you wanna have fun. You can do the same things without having to join an expensive social club. They ask too many personal information that isn't really necessary to be in a club. Again...it's not the members that made me leave this club...it's their inflexible policies and the fact that I don't even live in BC anymore and they are still after my money. Finally, they pretend not to be a dating service when in fact they are. Why can't they just be upfront about it? They also have many bad reviews about their other clubs in the US. They have been reported in www.ripoffreport.com and the Better Business Bureau in various states in the US. STAY AWAY FROM EVENTS AND ADVENTURES BECAUSE THEY WILL MILK YOU FOR EVERY PENNY YOU GOT!!! read more

My best new years yet. So I have only been a member of this club for approximately two weeks. I attended one event before this and have to admit I was a little out of my comfort zone, however it got me out of the house and everyone was friendly so I thought what the heck. Let's give New Years Eve a shot. I had nothing better to do. The event was at the Fairmont downtown Vancouver and since I was going with a group. The hotel gave me an awesome rate of $109. Pretty good since I checked out rates on a regular weekday was $300. I figured it was a bargain. Checking in was a little difficult since I drive a big truck and it wouldn't fit in the parkade. However the valet found me a spot after some troubleshooting and it was all good. Once in my room I was able to unpack unwind and get ready for a night of fun. Cleaned up, dressed up and smelling good I made my way to the top floor and checked in. It was fun right from the start. A stunning blonde gave me beads and I gave her my best runway walk. She was fun. I walked in and the place was decked out. Balloons, streamers, party hats. It was looking good. I ordered a drink and started to mingle. The view over looking the city was amazing and there were people from all walks of life. Definatly interesting. After about an hour everybody sat down for dinner. No shortage of food was present. Probably enough to feed a small city. I packed down two plates full of what was mostly roast beef. The best roast beef to have ever tantalized my senses for sure. Afterwards I chatted with this cute brunette about the club. She seemed to be having fun. The club handed out prizes after dinner and they were actually pretty decent. Canucks tickets were one prize that I remember. However I had a few drinks by then. So don't hold it against me. The music started playing and everybody started to party. The rest of the night was kind of a blur. I remember dancing my ass off. Making out with a couple girls. Howling at the moon while cruising in a bicycle taxi on the way to get red bull around 3 AM. Spilling stuff all over my hotel room. A visit from security around 4:30AM defiantly approximate. A wicked massage from two girls at once and some other stuff I can't tell you about. All in all. I have to say it was the most fun on New Years Eve I have had. I was sore for two days after, but I got to say it was worth it. read more

SO FAR SO GOOD!!!!!! I joined up in September, it was just time to make a change. It had been a tough year starting with a major breakup of a 7 year relationship and then losing a very close friend. I was looking to try new things and find some people to try them with. My first event was an icebreaker the club puts on for new members. Im a shy person but it was a great way to get me out of my comfort zone..I met 2 girls my age with simular situations ( single and most friends coupled up, married, and or with kids). We ended up doing a bunch of events together, great girls great friends!!!! Ive definitlley met some guys and it awesome to know they were screened before I met them, Ive been on a few dates and no pressure at all . Alot of the guys in club have also become great friends. Newyears was a blast, down at the Fairmont Vancouver top floor, very chic.... amzing 5star buffet..dancing off the calories all night!!! My best Newyears Eve in years. Next day I did something I thought I would never do and jumped into the ocean for the annual PolarBear swim. had I not met the friends I met in the club and have them practically force me to do it with them, I would have never done it....And im so glad I did ...it was awful and amazing at the same time. ..and now I can check it off my list and look forward to my next jump (possibly skydiving, which the club does in the summer) 2011 is my year to do the things Ive always wanted to do and E&A is helping me do them and in great company. Thankyou E&A for changing my life :))))) read more

For a single gal like me, Vancouver isn't the best place to meet other single people. To make matters worse, most of my friends are married with kids which can make you feel even lonelier. I heard about Events and Adventures from a friend who joined 2 years ago. It was also where she had met her husband. I was skeptical at first. The interview took over an hour and I almost got up midway to leave. However, the interviewer made me realize that I had to make a change if I was going to expect one in my life. Vancouver is a great city but it's hardly the most exciting. I realized that instead of feeling bad for myself, the best thing I could do was to put myself out there. It is an investment but I realized I was investing in myself. After attending several events and being surrounded by other single people, I was already comforted by the fact that this city does have a lot of single people like me and it was great to be in an environment with people with the same lifestyle and priorities as myself. I attend events weekly now and I look forward to the gatherings since a lot of the events are activities I didn't even realize existed in Vancouver. It's certainly not for everyone but it has done wonders for my social life and I can honestly say that I am happy now. If you are feeling lonely or bored and just want some wholesome excitement in your life I suggest you give it a try. If you're on the fence, take it from me, you won't regret it :) Life is too short to be lonely! read more

Great experience. I am someone who always gets in my own way and I have been miserable for several years because I did not realize I've been making the same mistakes and not investing in myself. The process at first was a little sketchy to me as the initial phone call and apt. set up was done with not much information given to me just lots asked about myself...but upon arrival and the start of the "2 way interview" as they called it, the staff at Events and Adventures helped me look in the mirror and get out of my way. They comforted my nerves, I signed up that day and was greeted at my first event by my interviewer. It took me a few events to get out of my shell but Events and Adventures has turned out to be what I hoped for after the interview...and more. Thank you for changing my life...and to those skeptics out there...get out of your own way. If you're searching for a healthier way to mingle and meet other's like yourself... I urge you to take the step like I did and give yourself the chance. I never looked up reviews before going in, I didn't research the company like I guess many people do but when I came to share my experience to hopefully help someone else make a difference in their life and saw the negative slander, I just felt like I had to shed the light from the other side. Hope this helps! read more

I've been a member of E&A for almost 7 years, and I can honestly say that joining is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Yes, it's a lot of money, but for me it's definitely been worth it. Since I joined, I've done things I never thought I'd try, like paragliding. Also, although I've always lived in the Lower Mainland, I've discovered places and activities that I never even knew existed, like Wildplay treetop trekking (basically an obstacle course in the trees). Although some events are repeated, I'm still finding new experiences on the calendars, like tonight's event: BBQ boats in False Creek! Most importantly, I've met a lot of great people who I never would have met otherwise. Even the less exciting events (like dinners/minglers) are a lot of fun because of the people who attend. I've made great friends with similar interests so now, besides going to events, I can do activities I enjoy with the friends I've made from the group. For example, I have a group of friends who like music bingo (which none of us had heard of before it appeared on the E&A calendar a few years ago), so now we go to a pub and play twice a month. Overall, I'd recommend E&A for anyone looking to try new things and make new friends. All the planning's done for you, so all you have to do is sign up and show up! read more

I joined events and adventures as a way to meet new people. A lot of my friends are at the stage in their lives where they have settled down and have kids. So it's really hard to get out and do things and this club has been a great way to do that. Events and Adventures was recommended to me by a friend who had been to a few events a few years ago. She said the group is a blast and that they are a lot of fun..and she was right! I have only been in the club for a few months but I have had the best time. The events vary every month. I don't think I have been to an event that I did not like. The hosts are fantastic and ensure that new members feel welcome and part of the group. Yes the fees are on the high end but you have to remember that someone is planning a social calendar for you for an entire month. The friends that I have told about this club think the fees are too high but I tell them it is well worth the money. If you want to get out and meet some really great people then I would highly recommend this club. Whether or not you meet someone, I guarantee that you will have a great time. Just be open minded and outgoing. That's what the group is all about. read more

To those that are curious about this club .... Events and Adventures is an activities club geared for single people. Most importantly, you meet really nice people - do a lot of things that you would likely not do on your own - find a lot of laughter. I have made a lot of new friends within E&A. This club is not set up a dating club, but it can happen. (I have been invited to several weddings). You have the chance to see each other for who really really out without the pretense. I have been with the club since shortly after it began in Vancouver. Yes, it is an expensive club - and yes, worth every bit I put into it. My next event - NYE overnight on the island with almost 70 other people. NYE was so much fun last year, we're doing it again this year! Please don't leave a negative review, if you've never even given E&A a chance. Coming out once or twice, but not engaging yourself with others, is not a fair assessment, nor reading negative reviews on the first pages @ the front to gauge your opinion .... try looking at the last pages .... YELP hides all of the positive reviews at the very back. You really need to be a part of us, to know how we move .... read more

Be aware that Events & Adventures is a scam! They use high-pressure sales tactics to push you into signing up for their service. During a video call, they misrepresent what they offer and gather all your personal data and information. Before you realize what's happening, you are on the hook for over $2000. The experience begins with a sales pitch that makes the service sound appealing and exclusive. However, the reality is far different from what is promised. Once they have your information, they quickly lock you into a costly contract. Many customers have reported feeling misled and trapped by the aggressive sales approach and the deceptive practices used by Events & Adventures. Not only do they fail to deliver on their promises, but they also make it difficult to cancel or get a refund. The company's lack of transparency and dishonest methods have left many feeling frustrated and scammed. If you come across Events & Adventures, proceed with extreme caution or, better yet, avoid them altogether. Save yourself the time, money, and stress of dealing with a company that prioritizes profit over customer satisfaction. read more

Awesome social group to join if you are interested in travel, adventures, cultural activities, international restaurants etc I have joined so I can have the opportunity to participate to all of the above. I generally have an extremely busy schedule personally and have friends I do lots of activities with outside of EnA but for me, I like the fact that whenever I am available, I can look up the monthly calendar and sign up to go to the theatre, restaurant, bowling, escape rooms, snorkeling with seals, comedy nights, Cirque du Soleil, dance nights, hikes so on and so forth. I have already travelled all over the world, BEFORE JOINGING EnA. I flew planes and gliders, I worked on a tallship, I scuba dove amongst hammerheads and tiger sharks, swam with wild dolphins many places around the globe and the list goes on. Regardless, when I am over on the lower mainland for "business"/work. Its super convenient to know I can hook up with a group of single people that have my sense of adventure and curiosity and just hang out and do stuff in the spur of the moment, leaving the organising to others ...no strings attached read more

You've heard it on the radio; "Get out, have fun, meet a group of interesting, dynamic singles". Well, the commercials simply do not do this club justice. You see, it's not a club so much as a true family experience. There's something on the calendar for almost every day and it's with the closest, most supportive group of genuine human beings I have ever met. Give it a shot, you might learn something about yourself. Maybe you'll discover that you love watching magnificent light shows while sitting in a kayak; maybe you'll learn that you simply can't miss a chance to go salsa dancing; perhaps you'll find that magical feeling simply wandering around a Christmas light decorated bridge. A weekend touring Okanagan vineyards and partying by the lake is a more than ideal way to unwind after a long, hot summer. Then again, maybe you'll get that indescribable feeling of just sitting at a table for a meal with a few people you truly feel are worthy to make that small circle we call family. Give E&A Vancouver a call, go in for an interview. There's nothing to lose in that, and everything to cultivate. read more

I did the meeting and answered all the questions. They are indeed serious about who they let in and that didn't annoy me at all, I was actually pretty happy - as a woman- to know there was a selection. I then came back home and saw the reviews. The price is definitely not cheap, that's no secret, but now that I ve been to events I can say it is absolutely worth it. I have been a member since october and I'm having a great time. I have been to a bunch of events and the crowd is very easy to get along with. I m having a lot of fun, Dinners, Halloween party, rockclimbing , dancing, karting, all I wanted. I met a lot of people and I'm happy to say I made a few good friends. Anyway I thought that would be helpful to have the review of an actual member. update : NYE party was absolutely awesome!! We had a three course dinner at the Pinnacle Hotel, champagne! A lot of fun, thanks m-traxx for the djing. I'll remember that great time and the fabulous goat cheese. Looking forward Valentine's day. read more

I've been a member for a few years now. When I first joined, I wasn't sure that I had made the right decision, as it is quite expensive, but I had tried meetups and sports leagues and wasn't really meeting people that I could form lasting friendships with. E&A has been a wonderful experience, but it is definitely about your attitude too. If you want to have fun and meet new friends, then attend events with an open mind and be open to speaking with everyone. I have noticed that the unhappiest members are the ones who expect to find a date or expect the event to make them happy. This is a club for single people to do activities together; it's not a dating site. There are so many activities and opportunities to do the things you love with people who share your interest, or to try new things. I have no regrets about joining and I can happily say that I've met a ton of amazing people, some of whom have become my closest friends. read more

Signed up September 2017 to try and get myself out the house and do more stuff. First event I went to was the 30th anniversary boat party for the club. Signing up was the best thing I could have done. Everyone in the club are great people and fun to be around thanks to the screening process they do before they let you join. It is so much fun. As long as you are not married you are able to join. I have met my girlfriend through the club. The hosts are incredible putting up so many fun events. And I still have no idea how they put up with some us. Every event usually ends with a bite to eat and a drink. We have stuff everyday of the month, except for the odd day. And enough with the negative reviews. It just means you have never actually tried to be part of the club. Don't leave a negative review if you don't try. You will never regret joining up for the club it WILL be one of the best things you will do. read more

I moved to Vancouver just over a year ago and when I heard the ad for Events and Adventures on the radio I immediately contacted them and had an appointment arranged to meet with them. I understand where the other reviewers may be coming from, it is certainly not cheap and the appointment turned out to be a thorough screening process. However, having passed the screening process and being invited to join the club, it was definitely worth the money for me and anyone else who's life is consumed by their job with little time for a social life. Events and Adventures provided a platform for me to explore Vancouver and to make new friends immediately in my new home. It is the sense of community and like minded individuals that I truly appreciate from this club and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to have a good time with good individuals, especially if you are new to the city. read more

When I first joined the club and went to a couple events, I thought "what have I gotten myself into?!" I'm a shy person and I admit the first few events were awkward for me. The other members were friendly enough but it was definitely outside of my comfort zone. After a few events I started to recognize people and get to know them better. I have met some great people that I spend time with in and outside of the club. I have done things I never would have done on my own like circus school and facing my fear of heights on a treetop obstacle course! The other members talked me through that one, big time!! As others stated, the club is pricey but there are options to pay monthly that makes it more affordable for some. It is a business after all and they do need to make money to continue operating. For me, it was a worthwhile investment. It will be whatever you choose to make it. read more

Been a member of E&A for about 6 weeks now. I moved from Ireland 7 months ago and was finding it difficult to meet new people. E&A gave me the opportunity to meet new people and create a new friend circle with the possibility of meeting some one to date and all while doing fun activities and trips away. There is a large selection of activities to sign up till, from evening dinner meet ups to weekends away. Each activity usually attracts a different group of people as everyone's availability varies which is good. Some events are even shared between clubs (e.g. Vancouver & Seattle). The event organizers are extremely friendly and inviting which allows for a great atmosphere. They also are willing to listen to the members on how to improve events and suggest new things to try. Definitely recommended for anyone new to the city and looking to meet new people while having fun! read more

I love this club! I've tried and experienced so many things I never thought I'd try in a million years! We're talking about Bucket List stuff, people! Some of my favorite events were on, in, or around water! Scuba class! Kayaking in Deer Lake Park and then in Deep Cove! Snorkeling with seals! Bowen Island Dinner & Boat Tour! I'm not a particularly outgoing person but when you're doing something interesting you forget to be self conscious! Michelle Apples is a dynamo! Many members say she's The Best Event Coordinator Vancouver has ever had! She always makes me feel welcome, and has helped me when I'm out of my comfort zone by being encouraging and fun to be around. I joined E&A when I decided that I wasn't just bored with my life, I was boring! Well, I'm Not Boring Any More! read more
