One of my very best friends got married nearby and then had her reception here at Eventmuhule Kraichau and it was really a gorgeous event venue. This review is kind of two parts because as part of the wedding party I stayed here for two nights as this place is unique in that you can rent it not only for the event but also as a place to stay.
Ostringen is a small German town and this event venue is fairly remote, off the beaten path, but that's really some of the appeal of this place as it's beautifully nestled in the countryside and has all the old world charm you'd be looking for in this neck of the woods. It's made up of three buildings on the main part of the property, one that features the main dining room, event space below and bedrooms above, one the houses the dance floor and party space, and one that houses a kitchen and restroom for guests. They are all situated around an outdoor courtyard that feels like it popped out of the Mamma Mia movie musical. They have also recently added on a guest house across the street that my friend also rented for some of her family to stay in which was brand new and I think they may have been the first people to use it.
The event space is 100% five stars - it's really well balanced between the old world and the new, and apart from a few glitches with the microphone during the toasts, everything went really well. The rooms and overnight accommodations are good, but have a few quirks that I think need to be worked on as these folks work to bring this place up to the 5 star venue it really has the potential to be. The biggest issue with the bedrooms above are not the bedrooms at all but the shared bathroom. First of all I'll say we all slept well and found the rooms to be modern and comfortable. The bathroom had basically no hot water at all so showers were short and uncomfortable, and the windows in the bathroom had no coverings so you had to just hope that nobody was wandering around outside while you showered, or they were in for a show! The other glitch was that the espresso machine was on the fritz during our stay which was a bummer - the owner was very kind and came over to fix it a few times so eventually we were all well caffeinated, but when you'e staying somewhere so off the beaten path coffee machines are of paramount importance!
Overall, we had a great stay and it was such a magical evening for all of us involved. I'd absolutely recommend this place to folks looking to get married in the region, as I think some of these kinks are likely to get worked out as they stay in business and host more families. read more
