I work from home and have been clipping my own dog's nails for four straight years, so I don't…read moreparticularly need most of the services at Bark Place. However, I got this dog sweater from this location and thought maybe my dog would wear it once or twice for pics but never again. (I'm not a huge fan of dogs wearing clothes, but I had to admit a noticeable difference with my short-haired dog not shivering during winter months while wearing two separate coats. So I backed down on making fun of dog coats. My two larger, furrier dogs in prior years never needed manmade coats.) But this sweater is turning into a Linus blanket situation. I tried putting on a "Christmas" dog coat that matched her red Xmas collar (I love festive dog collars!!!), but it was white and getting dirty too quickly. I took it off to handwash it and put the Bark Place pink sweater on my dog solely for one walk, and she's been running away ever since when I try to take it off at night. At one point, she slid under one of the bar stools in my dining room, around the corner, ran into my bedroom and into her crate, flopping down sideways. Even if you don't need anything else in Bark Place, take note of the dog clothes. A bunch of my relatives crochet and knit, so I already knew the dog sweater was solid quality but expected it to wear. It still looks brand new, and my dog is glued to it. When I take it off to bathe her or what I *think* is comfier to sleep at night, she growls and leaps for it. I think a pink sweater and a red bow collar clash, but she couldn't care less about me being the fashion police. I'm tickled by how much she likes THIS particular sweater but has never ever been this into any other dog clothes gift (that I usually return) in four straight years. Don't sleep on the dog sweaters, I guess, unless you're my own dog who will turn over sideways so she CAN sleep in hers.

Sabrielle and her staff truly understand and care about dogs. I have a very special little dog who…read moreneeds a lot of training and attention to help overcome her behavioral challenges and they not only understood what to do immediately, we've been making steady progress since we first met everyone. The convenient Wheaton location of the facility is great for daycare and they also allow for half-day daycare too. Very flexible scheduling. When I pick my dog up, I can tell that she's received personalized attention from the staff and that she has been well cared for. Often she's been able to work one-on-one with a staff member for nearly all of her half-day session. We also attend the group classes which are incredibly unique and let my dog build up practice interacting with other dogs in a way that reinforce new, good behaviors. My neighbors are thrilled with the progress almost as much as I am - my dog no longer automatically barks at everyone outside now and is able to make new friends. The in home training we did originally was incredibly valuable to get us started on the right foot. We need to do that again very soon! Is it the least expensive daycare and/or training in the area? No. But it is ABSOLUTELY worth it. When I leave my dog in the care of The Canine's Voice I know that she's going to be safe, loved, and will learn a few things while she's there. The classes are incredibly valuable too. The results speak for themselves.

She had plenty of tips and techniques and it was nice having her visit the home for the sessions to see how he is in that environment. After several mixed purpose sessions I feel like we're on the path to success, maybe. We hope .

Experience This is a great location in Evanston, and I'm…read morewriting from the perspective of a dog owner who's been a client for about 90 days. Parking: Finding parking can be a bit of a challenge since spaces are limited, but there are usually a few spots available in the alley closest to the building. Experience: I'd encourage new clients to assess their experience over time try a few overnight stays to see how your dog responds when they come home. During our 90 days, my pup was bitten during day play by another dog that was playing a little too rough. I'm not sure how that happened if play is supervised, but once staff noticed, they cleaned and treated the wound with ointment. After overnight stays, my dog often came home with an upset stomach (vomiting or diarrhea) by the next day. After our most recent stay, he developed a dry cough a few days later, which he didn't have before drop-off. I emailed the facility (using the address listed on Google) on October 10th to share these concerns, but unfortunately never received a response. But an email was sent October 24th as an all blast email to all clients. Communication: Transparency and communication are really important to me, and the lack of follow-up was disappointing. Because of that, I've decided not to return. Staff: Walter is great very friendly and helpful. As is Lisa who handles meet and greets but really was kind. My pup is high-energy, and after day play he always comes home ready to eat and relax, which I appreciated. Final Thoughts: If you decide to try this location, don't feel pressured to sign up for their weekly enrollment plan. Even after expressing that I wasn't interested, I was asked about it several times during drop-offs and pick-ups. Overall, there are some positives here, but communication, supervision, and follow-up could be improved.

We've gotten guidance on issues like lunging while on the leash, barking at animals on TV, and jumping and barking when people come over. After spending time with Frank, we felt like we had a plan, which has instilled lots of confidence and motivation in us. We also now board our dogs with Frank when we go out of town for long days or weekends. It's nice to know that they're in someone's home but also around other dogs (Frank's dogs and others that he is boarding), and that they're getting the same training we'd do at home. Frank truly loves dogs, and he's got a clear training philosophy that made sense to us. The first day we met him we could see that he understands dogs and knows exactly what to do to control them. We've been calling him the Dog Whisperer of Rogers Park ever since.

Frank was a wonderful resource. He showed us some training activities to do with Duncan, sometimes demonstrating with Duncan and other times with one of his brood of mostly rescue dogs. We left the training session with a printed handout of training activities and a renewed sense of confidence. I often get compliments on what a well-behaved little dog Duncan is, and I always reply with an enthusiastic referral for Frank. We recently adopted a second dog and we're so grateful that Frank offers a boarding service. It's great to know the pups will be in good hands when we travel to Brooklyn to visit my parents.
