Fenwick as a brand has 8 locations across the country and was founded here in Newcastle Upon Tyne. This location is their flagship. The store has entrances on street level (Northumberland Street) as well as entrances from the mall. The store is open until 7 pm on most days, although opening hours can vary, this means they're generally open an hour later than John Lewis, which is the mall's other main department store. The store is fairly attractive, with modern and older parts and the selection again is reasonable. The renovation is starting to show which is ongoing to celebrate the store's 140th anniversary. The Food Hall area reminded me a little of a smaller version of Harrods, pricey for sure but they had a variety of items appearing to be high-quality, including some meats which looked of a fantastic quality. I much prefer the technology section at John Lewis nearby, however - although Fenwick for sure wins on the Food Hall side of things. 4*

Dotty P's is one of my favourite stores to shop in for a few reasons: they always seem to have a…read moresale on; even when they don't have a sale on you can get a great fitting t-shirt for about £4; they support the Woodland Trust by having a range of clothing and accessories available to buy; they have the fabulous Gok Wan on board to shout hello Gorgeous girls! over the loud speaker as you are shopping, just to make you feel better about yourself! This store is just inside of the Northumberland Street entrance of Eldon Sqaure shopping centre and so is easy to get to and practically always the first clothing store I head to when I come to toon to shop! This place has two floors with a bit of a steep staircase but most of the good stuff is downstairs anyway. The staff are really good here too, and recently went out of their way to help me order stuff in and use a gift voucher card I had. This is a good place to come to early in the day as it can get very busy later on.

The branch in Eldon Square looks tiny from outside, but once you're inside it extends quite a way back. They used to stock a wide range of sizes including a petite and a tall range, however, I think these ranges have been discontinued in this particular store which is unfortunate. However there are often bargains to be had in their sales, but make sure you get there early if you want to bag your size, as I have gone later in the January sales only to find a small selection of sizes left (usually 6s, 8s and 16s).

The store is a little tucked away from the main Eldon Sq. shopping centre but it makes for quieter shopping in the adjoining Eldon Garden shopping centre. Bravissimo are a great lingerie and nightwear shop for ladies who are 'larger up-top'. they offer a…read morefree fitting service which is very helpful, especially if you are like most women and have no idea what size you actually are! They are one of the few shops that I know of which stock fashionable bras in larger sizes - most bras I have seen for larger busted ladies are grannified and most young people wouldn't be seen dead in them! Anyway that's what I think makes this shop stand out against its rivals. Although their prices are around £20 per bra, they are definitely worth it. I used to be the sort of person who would by a basket-load of cheap bras from primark at £3 each but they hardly last five minutes and are usually ill-fitting. Nowadays I think you're best off buying just a few select bras from the likes of Bravissimo and they are much more comfy & will last you much longer than any cheap bras. the shop itself is very airy, the racks are set out well so you can see everything clearly and easily find your side. The ladies instore seem to know what they're doing and seem more determined to find your perfect fitting bra so you know they are not trying to palm you off with the rubbish ones just to meet targets! Overall I have had a good experience with this shop - their range is very good, their prices are reasonable for the service and fit you get, and the customer service is excellent.
