I have even gone so far as to tell my family I wanted a closed casket service. When entering the sanctuary I braced myself to see a ghost of the gentle giant I remembered, but I was pleasantly surprised that he looked as if he was just sleeping. He looked great. Smoot funeral services did an awesome job. I'm not sure about their prices, but the quality of their work is surprisingly comforting.

These people are predators. Now e-mails are arriving trying to sell me services. EVERY correspondence claims I have shown interest. I have yet to receive a call from a Schoedinger family member as I was told I would the last time I complained, which doesn't surprise me since previous complaints haven't stopped the harassment. I keep demanding to see written proof that I requested information. It is a shame that they gave my information to some company when all I did was have my mother's funeral there a few months ago. I'm not sure if it was…read morebecause I contacted Ohio Embalmers and Funeral Directors by phone and they reached out to Caliman Funeral Services or because of my previous review or because my Mother has contacted them several times these past two months, but they have refunded her money. I'm still not understanding one thing. If she prepaid for her funeral service, it was supposed to be earning interest which meant as prices climbed her funeral, as she ordered or requested it should have been fully paid for, but she was informed that if she died today with the money she had paid, it would not have been enough to cover the full cost. Why not? We are looking into other avenues to make sure when the time comes, the money is available and she will have the type of going home service she wishes to have. I'd like to add, they did a wonderful job with my Father's service in 2006.

David handled everything for us including getting mom back to Columbus since she passed out of state. Epstein certainly knows the Jewish rituals but David was also determined to be sure we had no worries through the process. Since he knew there was construction in the area, David even took the extra step and drove by the cemetery beforehand, to be sure we would have access and secured parking in case things changed before we arrived. I will use David and Epstein again in the future, although I hope not for a long time to come.

I am beyond upset with what we experienced today visiting family and friends at this cemetery…read more Obviously they were using Memorial Day weekend as a way to try to lure future customers in. They had a table set up out front that people could visit and that should've been enough but that isn't why people are there. They are there to grieve and honor, especially this weekend. As we're standing there at the grave of a loved one, one of their staff mows over all of the graves to approach us. In my mind I'm thinking, "don't do it. I know they don't have the audacity." Nope...they're doing it. They stop and ask if we are thinking of being buried close to our loved ones there. I told them this was not the time or place for a sales pitch and off they drove over about 8 rows of graves to get back to the road. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!?!?! We *were* considering being there but this gross display of playing on the grief of people when you know you're going to have the highest turnout was completely inappropriate. It turned our family off to the idea of being at a place where they might try to bother other grieving family in the future when we're gone. I don't care if corporate encouraged them to do it or if they thought they'd take advantage of the extra traffic but it was offensive.

Her hair was not fixed the way it was in the photo, they only put foundation on her not full make like she was in photo. Her clothes looked like they was just thrown on her. I would not recommend this funeral home to anyone. I was so heartbroken over losing my daughter and to see her not even close to looking the way she made herself was heartbreaking as well. Her service was rushed, family and friends was rushed out of the funeral home due to them closing at 7. Please DO NOT use this funeral home.
