This review is for the cremation service at Evans Funeral Home in Jefferson, GA. It was my uncle's funeral on March 15, 2015. Our families and friends had to wait for an hour and a half later than scheduled for the crematory because there was another cremation service still going on. When we arrived at Evans crematory, this man in charge was so rude and disrespectful from the beginning. I didn't get his name but I will never forget his face. He made everyone parked two hills down from the cremation site when there were plenty of parking nearby. He rushed my family to get the casket out of the hearse. He kept telling us to hurry and that ONLY the wife and children could view the cremation process but on Evans web site, it is stated that families and friends could be present. The saddest part was my grandmother didn't get a chance to say good bye to her son because she was still walking up the hills while this disrespectful man started the cremation process. None of us got a chance to say our last good bye. We were rushed by this man just because he was behind on his schedule. This man didn't allow the Buddhist monks to do the service. It's hard enough to lose your love one but to also deal with a disrespectful funeral facility. We are still saddened by this incident. This rude man disrespected my families, friends, the monks, our religion and most of all, my uncle. I DO NOT recommend this crematory. RUDE PEOPLE!!!! read more

This review is for their cremation services, not their actual funeral home/memory garden services. If I could put NO STARS at all, I would. I am totally and completely disgusted by the disrespect that they showed my friends and their family on March 15, 2015. First off, they made us park two parking lots down from the crematory. We had to walk up two hills to get to the actual site. The grandmother (mother of the deceased) was one of the ones who had to walk up to the site. She is 100 years old, mind you! Whoever was running the crematory that day was awful and rude. He would not wait for the grandmother to get up there so she could say her last goodbyes to her son. He allowed the wife and four kids in, but did not allow them enough time to say their last goodbyes as well. (They were literally in there for about 5 mins.) When they came out, they all had blank expressions. When asked why, my friend explained to me that when they were in there... the man "running the show" didn't allow them enough time to say goodbye to their father. Also, he pushed the casket into the machine himself, shut it, and pressed the button to start the machine. My friend was confused and asked him if it was just "warming up" the machine because she saw the levels getting higher and higher. He told her No and that he had already started the machine and that the body was already burning. This is so disrespectful! From what I understand, the family gets to do all those steps. When confronted about this, he didn't even have the decency to come out and explain anything to the rest of the family or apologize. I am so disgusted by this crematory!!!!! I never want to turn this into a race thing, but we are ASIAN and that could possibly be the reason why we were so disrespected by this facility along with the fact that they were doing the BUDDHIST funeral traditions. (men in the family dressed up as monks, women in the family dressed up as "nuns", and having real monks there to bless the body, etc...) It was like he was trying to get us in and out and ON TO THE NEXT. Out of respect, I believe that my friends, their mother, grandmother, and family should receive an apology from this facility and the man who did this!!! read more
