JT is incredibly kind and well-intentioned, but the therapy felt one-dimensional. Sessions largely focused on validating feelings without providing structure, tools, challenge, or actionable guidance - all of which I repeatedly asked for. Given that this therapy was priced at the higher end of what we've seen, we expected a much deeper level of engagement and clinical depth. I consistently expressed that I did not feel understood, and that concern never felt meaningfully explored. The turning point came when JT continued asking the same questions and implied that I wasn't going deep enough. When I asked him to take a different approach and ask more thoughtful probing questions, he responded by asking me what I thought he should ask instead. That felt backwards. If he is the trained professional, I don't believe it should be my responsibility to determine how we get deeper in session. He also seemed dismissive of modalities like the Gottman Method and Nonviolent Communication, as well as the self-work I was doing independently. Despite repeatedly asking for homework or guidance between sessions, none was provided. We were looking for stronger direction and more skill-based, structured work, which is why we chose to move on. We're very happy with our new therapist, who also practices EFT but brings a broader, more versatile approach rather than relying on a singular method.

As cliché as it sounds, I can honestly say that working with Lindsay changed my life. Who am I…read morekidding? With the tools and insight she provided over our 18 months working together, she's continuing to change my life. I sought out counseling services when life felt unbearably bleak, difficult, and dark. I came in, grasping for control and hoping for a quick fix, which in hindsight is utterly laughable. I think if I knew how much baggage I needed to unpack and how much "inside" work it would take, I never would have begun the process, but with Lindsay's gentle and steadfast guidance, I was slowly but surely able to pull myself out of the weeds. With her help (and a lot of healthy work), I've found my voice and have begun to thrive in a visceral, sustainable and powerful manner- what a gift she has given me! Lindsay is thorough, receptive, non-judgmental, open to talking about therapy within therapy (so meta, I know), insightful, funny, wise, kind, gentle yet straightforward, and very easy to talk to. She questioned and helped me dig when I needed to be pushed and gave me space when she recognized that I needed to come to my own conclusions. The way she approaches counseling is thoughtful and intentional, but never calculated, which is invaluable. Overall, all I can say is this: Lindsay led me through a very challenging period of my life and for that I will forever be grateful. I've been through my fair share of counseling in the past with poor results- I'm so thankful for this positive experience to fall back on as needed. If you're feeling lost, trapped, stuck, like you're drowning...do yourself (and your loved ones!) a solid: go see Lindsay, commit to doing the work, and stick with it, even when it get's hard. People are messy, life is hard, but she's one of the great ones out there.

I am…read morenot sure how Acute is able to hide many 1 star reviews, and push fake 5 star reviews, but they succeed at it. When you get admitted to Acute center for eating disorders you give up all your human rights. The Acute center medical personnel monitor patients 24/7 and record every conversation--both phone calls and in-person visits with loved ones--then relay that information to a larger "team." Patients being watched while undressing for weigh-ins and even while using the bathroom during the first level of their treatment. You are not allowed to leave your room without supervision. They are forced to consume up to 5,000 calories per day until they reach a predetermined "standard" body ratio. If a patient or their parents disagree with the treatment plan, the clinic can enforce feeding through a court order. You will not be allowed to go home after treatment. instead they will transfer you from one recovery center to another. The environment feels more like a jail, where you have been treated as a prisoner. Access to patient floors is tightly controlled; no one can enter without a badge or special authorization. Acute is not part of Denver Hospital, even so it's located in one of its buildings, it's a separate entity, which has its own rules and policies, so there is no authority above them you can advocate your rights. Food is worse than in a regular hospital. People with eating disorders need a better nutrition.

No matter where you are, the journey will be difficult. Having said that... it doesn't seem necessary to torture clients in recovery. This place the WORST unhealthy food options that taste about as good as feces. Not one thing I encountered was even close to the realm of edible. The chicken was DEFINITELY not fresh chicken, the fish tasted out of a can, the veggies were soggy, and the grains (the 2 options they had)! We're just simply uncooked. Most importantly, this facility is completely unwilling to work with you. Things you bring from home, comfort items, and things that are part of your everyday life are just flat out dismissed. Try also try to use you being there as a basis for a psychiatry hold, which is used as a threat. Very simply, any treatment that uses a "one size fits all" or does not tailor the program or eating or food options for each person, is not worth exploring . Unfortunately, I am leaving this review because of how Jason reacted to this not being the right fit. Firstly, Jason seemed completely disengaged throughout our sessions. It felt like he was just going through the motions, offering generic advice that could have been found in any self-help book. There was a distinct lack of personalization or effort to understand the unique dynamics of our relationship. However, things really went downhill after my partner and I brought our frustrations to Jason. He was unprofessional saying things like "I just want this to be done" and "take it or leave it" when we asked for a refund. He also led many emails saying "I know I said not to do this, but I'm going to anyway" and was overall more interested in defending himself than making sure we got the counseling we needed. Overall, our experience with Jason was a waste of time and money. He did not provide the guidance or expertise we expected from a professional couples therapist. Instead of helping us work through our issues, he added to our stress financially and personally. I would strongly advise anyone considering their services to look elsewhere for competent and compassionate couples therapy.
