The Mall in Blackburn is the main shopping centre to serve the city centre and it does boast some…read morebig names which includes Argos, Boots, Clarks, Costa, EE, Game, Greggs, H&M, JD, Next, Pandora, Ryman, Subway, Topshop, USC, Sports Direct, Thorntons, River Island and a Post Office to name a few, which is quite impressive for a small town like Blackburn. The mall its-self is a decent size, it mainly seems to be all over one floor, but from the standard street level where Morrisons and the Markets are, you do need to go up a lift or escalator to get in and walking in that way wasn't really nice, it just felt bare walking through that coridoor which was cold, it wasn't very nice until you entered the main bit which was better. In a way, it felt cramped together how they had the shops and in some parts much of them were quite small including Argos, however their was a much more modern part with slightly nicer, newer and bigger stores such as Muffin Break, Next and Ryman. They didn't seem to be a large amount of staff or information points around to get assistance, so it was a bit of a free for all in a way, perhaps adding maps would have been easier to help find certain shops, I did struggle to find the Post Office at first mainly because it was situated right at the front enterance, hidden away in the newsagents away from everything else to the point where I wouldn't even count it as part of Blackburn's The Mall. The Mall actually comes from a chain of 6 branches around the UK, mainly in the South of England with other locations such as Luton. They did have an information counter which I went onto find, which is quite cool in the fact it is also a Collect Plus point, which is a key provider in returns from a large amount of companies, which includes Amazon in addition to the Post Office, which has a location here and Amazon Lockers, which are based in Morrisons just across the way. I didnt use parking here so can't comment on that, i would instead recommend parking across the way and not in either Morrisons or the main parking which is free for Blue Badge holders. Overall, this is a nice mall with some nice shops and well-known chains surrounding it, combining some of the biggest companies in WHSmith and Mcdonald's, and the smallest such as Rhode Island Coffee and Muffin Break so it has done enough to at least earn a slightly generous three star rating.

Unfortunately, the stock in the Burnley store seems to be getting more and more depleted with large empty areas which leaves me to wonder if the store will soon be closing its doors for good. There are plenty of 'chav' clothes on offer but also some more tasteful outfits and the prices are low. There's always an extensive sale section where you can stretch your money even further but there's plenty of awful clothes to scour in search of hidden gems. The staff are particularly helpful though and do deserve a special mention. When buying T-shirts for a hen night, the Burnley staff were great at setting aside all the stock they had of a particular style and were great in telephoning around all the MK One stores in Lancashire to source the elusive size 12s our party searched for. Despite some of the frankly awful fashion choices on offer in MK One, I do enjoy hunting down wearable bargains and I would definitely miss it if it went!

Despite only being a small store, the Accessorize branch in Burnley is stocked from floor to ceiling with all sorts of pretty accessories including jewellery, hair accessories, handbags, shows, scarves etc. The prices are a little higher than other shops selling similar items but this is reflected in the quality and selection of items available. The store also has a very grown up feel about it and, although there is a limited selection of children's items, the majority of the items are expensive and tasteful enough to be for adults only. The store is well laid out with the jewellery being separated into different colours and themes. This makes it easier to find something to match your new red dress or a gift for your friend with a penchant for boho accessories since similar items are grouped together. My only qualm with Accessorize, besides perhaps the high prices, is the fact that the store is a little cramped with free standing displays as well as shelving on all the walls. At busy times, this can make browsing difficult and it would definitely be a struggle for anyone with a pram. One final thing to point out whilst I forget is the sales! Accessorize have fantastic sales with up to 70% off a wide range of items, so it's well worth stocking up if you spot a sale sign in the window as my previous bargains have included a pair of shoes for £3 and lots of jewellery items for 50p.

It is a great place to buy your mums christmas present as it does not seem to be really 'fashion led' but is does have a good range with plenty of colour (which a lot of shops dont seem to have at the moment) and the prices are reasonable. It is always quite busy but the shop is large and well mirrored so it never gives the impression of being cramped. When you look at the average shopper in here you will see that is does not attract the teenage market but is well worth a visit.

You would expect a medium sized branch to stock a decent range of clothes in a range of sizes but I find many of the clothes in this branch seem to be very samey and also they seem to limit a lot of their stock to very basic and safe clothes options. I do like to shop at Dorothy Perkins but I generally visit the Manchester branch where the selection of clothes is far wider and more inspired. The prices in the Burnley store are the same as in all other branches of DPs and the staff are helpful enough, I just find it disappointing that whoever selects the stock for the Burnley store, doesn't make any adventurous choices when it comes to clothes. There's only so many pairs of black trousers or various coloured jersey tops one girl needs!
