After having one too many hit or miss appointments with European Wax Center, I decided it was time to search for a verified esthetician. I came across Mariana on Yelp, and it's safe to say I've found my new esthetician! I went to her for wax services, and the entire appointment went seamlessly. She ensured I was as comfortable as possible, and performed added measures to make sure my service was to my liking, including using a special honey wax roller to remove fine hairs. In response to the Owner: I was very clear in my review that I did not receive services from you. I went to your location with the intention to receive services, but the experience was so negative that I wasn't comfortable trusting you with my skin. As you can see from my screenshots, I never received a text from you saying you'd be late. You said that "Hi sorry but my new address is..." And when I click on the link, it does not have a continuation of your message. It's just a confirmation of my appointment day and time. I will upload a screenshot of that as well. And yes I did agree to come to the new location even though you gave me less than an hour's notice. I am considerate of people's time, especially when it comes to small businesses. Even though it was very inconvenient for me to go to the new location, I still went because I know it's hard for small businesses when clients cancel the day of or last minute. So I was being respectful by not canceling the appointment last minute. I still wanted to give you a chance despite the last minute change. Also you can see in my photos that the waiting area is dark and creepy. There wasn't anyone in the area, no staff or clients. You can even see that the overhead lights are off in my pictures and in yours as well. I'm not going to attack you the way you try to in your response. I went to your location to receive services and I wrote my review detailing my experience in your location. And yes I am quick to write my review about your business because writing it on the day of service ensures that I stick to the facts of what I experienced. I do not lie or fabricate any I formation on my reviews. I am consistent and quite generous as you can see from my 200+ reviews. I try not to give bad reviews, especially to small businesses. But your behavior was so unprofessional and I needed to be honest about that in my review. That is what is so great about yelp. People write reviews telling their experiences at places they give their money to. Also I'm glad that you responded to my review because you have shown future potential customers how you respond to criticism. In the future, I would suggest giving yourself 10-15 minutes blocks between each client so that you aren't late. Mariana is AMAZING! I went in today for my first facial in several years and I must say I couldn't have had a greater experience. Location address has changed to 2743 Castro Valley Blvd. it's easy to find (between Togo's and Burger King) and there's tons of parking! You enter through the double doors and in front is Onyx Day Spa. You can sit and wait for your appointment there in front and Mariana comes out of the back room to call you in for your appointment. As soon as I walked in, She greeted me with such a kind demeanor. Her room is very clean and the lighting and music are so relaxing. During my facial she walked me through everything she was doing and the products that she was using on my skin. She also made several suggestions for at home care regarding my skin type and post care after my European facial and microdermabrasion. I do suggest bringing in cash or downloading Venmo/ Zelle as these are the easiest methods of payment for her. Overall I had such a great experience, Mariana has gained a new client! I purchased groupons for my mom and I to get facials here. I was impressed with how quickly she was able to schedule us for appointments. It is much easy to text with her than to try to call her (just a heads up). Her room is in an office at the back of a building. I had been there before to get a massage from the people she shares the space with. If you've never been there, it may be kind of confusing to find. When you walk in the door there are 5 or 6 doors that are closed. You'll see a couch, and I suggest just plopping a squat until she comes to you rather than knocking on the door... she may be finishing up another client. Her actual room is very clean, but she has to put all of her stuff in one room, so you can tell it's a little over packed. She was very good at asking questions and giving recommendations. I will say that her table is not the comfiest of tables to lay on your back on for an hour... I had to switch up my position several times. Her steam machine is great though... it's not too hot but you can tell it's working well. I lived the product she used and how gentle she was she she was doing the extraction portion of the facial. Mariana does a great job with extraction. She really knows how to work with your skin type and will recommend products accordingly. If her parking lot is full, you can park in the Plaza next door and walk over. She accepts cash, atm cards, and Venmo! How convenient is that!? She only takes appointment and no walk-in which is what I prefer. You will get your service on time instead of waiting in line for your turn. Her salon is very clean. Her extractions are virtually painless compared to the crazy painful ones I've had in my lifetime. I couldn't believe how good she was at it! Mariana is nothing short of amazing, I haven't been to her in a couple of months because 1) I've been busy and 2) my skin has DRAMATICALLY improved. I wish I was brave enough to have taken "before" pictures. Marina was honest from my first appointment about how long it would take to correct my skin issues, and is always empathetic about her struggles with her own skin as well (rather than scolding). She consistently asks how you're feeling throughout, and when I had a bad bad breakout once and she didn't want to irritate it, she was honest with me and did what she could as well as advised me to see a dermatologist. She would always educate me during my appointments as well on my specific type of acne (cystic) and I've taken everything I learned from her to heart. I had been wanting to get a facial for a long time when I saw the ad on Groupon for Euro Diva. It was close to Christmas so I bought one for myself and one for my daughter. When I called to make an appointment, they actually got us in rather quickly. I got a little scared because a lot of people kept telling me that facials hurt during the exfoliating part, where I thought they were like a massage and would be relaxing. So the day came for our appointments and my daughter went first. An hour later she came out and I asked her if it hurt and she said no that she almost fell asleep a couple of times cause she was so relaxed. I felt better after hearing that so I went in and layed down on the bed for my facial experience. The room was warm and the lights were dim and the music was soothing. Mariana is amazing!!!
