Sadly, L&L has been replaced with Nations! Yes, we now have a Nations for when you crave an old-fashioned burger or pie. There are two Starbucks locations: one next to Panda Express and the other inside Safeway. Unfortunately, Rite Aid is on its way to closing, and it's unclear what will replace it. Hopefully, it will be something that offers prescriptions again. For all you electric car owners, we now have multiple charging stations near BofA. Nothing has changed when it comes to the rude, inconsiderate people parking in the shopping center for beach days, despite signs cautioning against it.

I visited Hillsdale Mall for the first time in decades!…read more I wanted to drop by and survey the parking near Palette Tea Garden. I decided it was best to park on the roof and take the escalator down to ground level.....right to the restaurant! While I was there, I walked around to see what the indoor mall was like. It's a nice shopping mall with a variety of shops, restaurants, and services. The North Mall has a huge "Dining Terrace" which includes an outdoor patio with fire pits. I like the hand washing area. I heard stories that the owners of the mall want to tear down the enclosed mall and build a mixed use open air mall. The plan is yet to be approved. I like Hillsdale Mall the way it is.

The visitor seating area next to Foot Locker smells like throw-up, and the carpets and seats are stained and grimy, like they haven't been cleaned in months. All of the trash bins outside are constantly overflowing, and you can find trash and debris scattered everywhere, which makes walking around gross and unpleasant. During Christmas, the Santa chair for photos is black, sticky, and completely gucky, making what should be a fun experience with kids feel disgusting. The overall smell, dirt, and lack of maintenance make this mall feel unsafe and unhygienic -- honestly, I would never come back and would warn anyone I know to avoid it.

I especially enjoyed the sales at Macy's, and the staff folks there were friendly and very helpful. I got 50%+ off many items. There is some construction going on in a few areas around the mall, so more improvements are on the way. I will definitely shop here again!

The three main section also present a mismatched appearance that reflect what the owner (owners?) must think about management of the property. Also an eyesore is the large dirt patch and generally little card paid to the gardening aspect of the property. For those of you who have seen the run down places in parts of of the South Bay, surrounding Dallas areas , and Orange, Ca you will know what I mean. The one really cool feature, also a holdover concept from era when the place was built, is a small indoor mini mall inside the larger of the buildings. Visitors who pass by on the street would hardly know Park Center has this little indoor area. I have not seen this area put to good use in years for anything like a site or community event. Another indication of an overall lack of care for the place.. But at least the area is well lit. A good thing too since there is a bar on site that could otherwise contribute strange vibe to the place except for the light. But this little shopping center does have a few gems like Sun Valley Fine Foods as well as Upper Crust Delicatessen. The last being a great place to get sandwiches. If it weren't for the little gems this place has I would have given the Park Center Two stars. Otherwise the only thing really right about the Park Center is that it's the only thing around for a mile in any direction. Which only goes to scream "captive audience". A little work on the property to renovate, update, and match the overall appearance could flip my opinion of this place from "industrial diamond" to a community gem.

I've been told it used to be a racetrack, Japanese American internment camp, to name a few. It's hard to believe this place has so much history but can look so abandoned on the outside. This was where I had my first job working at Miller's Outpost / Anchor Blue. That's when it used to be a very alive mall then, with the super cheap double show movie theater. The good old days when life was much simpler and we weren't glued to cell phones, lol. I could've sworn I read somewhere a while back this place was sold, and it was going to be like a biotech/ apartment in like 5 years or so. I could be wrong. Like most malls now, it's mostly all about food. I believe they still do off the grid here every Tuesday. For what it is, it's still a cool place to just walk around, catch a movie, and get a bite to eat.

Other major brands include: Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Baskin Robbins, Carl's Jr, Round Table Pizza, and State Farm. While driving on I-280, this shopping center might make a nice rest stop.
