It is clear that Victoria truly loves helping people find footwear that matches their goals. I discussed what I was looking for, and Victoria took that information and turned it into a shoe-finding spree! She brought out at least four pairs for me to try. She even brought out some shoes that she thought I might like based on what we talked about. My husband started talking to her, and wouldn't you know it, Victoria brought out some shoes for him, too. She never made us feel rushed or like she was trying to get us out the door. She even helped several other people while we were trying on our shoes, and all of them left with smiles on their faces. The Basecamp is so lucky to have Victoria as a stellar employee. We, as consumers, are even luckier to benefit from her extensive knowledge about footwear. We will definitely return to the Helena Basecamp for any future footwear needs. The world needs more Victorias! Very cute shop with a good variety of books, lots of merchandise to pick from including Montana book co. merch and other stationary. We encountered a sweet employee that reviewed their merchandise and helped us pick out some gift items, she was really nice to be attentive to us. Really appreciated her customer focus. They have very cool stickers I bought a handful sling with books and t-shirts. Loved their support and diversity message. Great place to stop in and grab your next read.

There are really expansive grounds that visitors can walk with broken remnants of sculpture that strangely all blends into the beautiful mountains. There are surprising finds everywhere - large kilns that are being rehabilitated, a small store that sells the clay they make. Lots of artist studios that are in partnership with the nature surrounding it. We picked up some beautiful mugs (about $50 each) and a lovely planter (about the same).

I think my first ceramics were pre-glazed celadon in the S. Korean countryside in 1994! Let's just say I started young. I came out to Helena to actually hit a spa and am not an outdoorsy/hike/climb a mountain/camp type. So in advance of coming out for the day from where I was staying further south, I looked on Tripadvisor for local stuff to do and found this awesome place. I didn't get there as early as I'd planned due to some last minute derailment but I did get to spend 40 minutes or so getting a superficial peek, most of which time I spent checkong out the North Gallery. There are large and small pieces, quirky works and mainstream works, edgy words and weird works, delicate country chic and chic modernist works -- all kinds of artisans making all kinds of ceramic. Some really fun stuff to check out, and it's not a paid attraction. Self guided walking tour with a nice pamphlet and some fascinating history. I had no idea but apparently this is THE pre-eminent spot in all of North America to be going to if you want to study or admire ceramics. If I'd only known sooner I would have made an effort to get up there earlier during the week of my stay ... but next time I come to Yellowstone area MT (and MT managed to woo me enough for a next time) I'll fershurz be coming back!
