This was a notice we received over the weekend from Texas Image Volleyball in Grand Prairie letting us know that they are closing the indoor beach portion of their program to make room for additional indoor courts. This has been a second home over the last three years. 680.98 hours just in the last two years is the amount of time I've been there (my daughter has been there even more when I couldn't take her). I ran a GPS report from my companies GPS unit ("only" goes back 24 months), and I've spent just short of 29 full days (24 hour periods) at Texas Image supporting my daughter the last two years. A full month. Beach volleyball is booming across the country and Texas Image Sand has been a second home to my daughter and dozens of other beach athletes looking to pursue beach volleyball at the college level. It's also the home to hundreds of other beach volleyball athletes that play there throughout the winter when regular outdoor courts aren't accessible. As far as I know, it's the only indoor beach volleyball facility in all of Texas. Just an incredibly weak move from a local business. I couldn't imagine not giving your customers a period of time to find a new program and just alerting them via social media post of the closure. To cap off the post, I am incredibly thankful for Ray, Brad, Kyle, Olivia, Blake, and the other beach coaches. Hopefully they were treated better than the athletes, and given a period of time to find other jobs. Stay away from Texas Image indoor volleyball. To add insult to injury, the head coach Brad who has placed dozens of girls in college to play beach received one minute advanced notice before the social media post from Texas Image announcing the closure. Previously employee signed me up. I get a voicemail For my outstanding balance of $107 Apparently there's a pattern of accounts being opened up in customers, names and bills being sent out. I don't trust any establishment with sketchy employees, especially at a time when credit fraud and credit identity theft is so prevalent. If this was supposed to be a Tejas returning player's practice, they should have informed players from other clubs. If you were a returning TEJAS player you stayed on the court the WHOLE time and coaches NEVER took you out. Their shirts were drenched. If you were an outsider, you watched Tejas practice for 90 minutes and barely broke a sweat. Coaches were either nowhere to be found OR only cared about taking your $20 and simply watching and coaching their own Tejas players (daughter in some cases...). A complete JOKE. Their priority is on safety and honing in on each gymnasts individualism, it is so beautiful to watch and be apart of. The staff is top tier, communication in this fun yet stressful environment is key and the office manager is always 2 to 10 steps ahead, it is refreshing. The parents and gymnasts are inclusive and do so many fun activities/events outside of the gym, away from gymnastics. There were too many kids for the number of coaches and they had knocked the mats out from under the bar, so her fall wasn't cushioned. No coach even called us; my daughter had to call to be picked up for X-rays. (The coach made her call from the coach's phone for proof they had contacted us, but she told my daughter she didn't actually want to talk to us.). And when we arrived to take her to the ER, the head coach did not even come speak to us about the injury. Empire will take your money. But they won't keep your child's well being at the forefront. They will expect her to keep secrets, and if she gets hurt at practice, they won't take care of her. So just be warned.
