Eugene was decently skilled and one of the better stylists in Orange County. However, there isn't much transparency in her prices. One day I went to get a cut and down perm, and I was charged $80. The next time I went, it was $100. There's no price list anywhere on the website or in the store. Last time I got a perm, my hair was damaged and she cut it unevenly. My friends know I'm apt to hyperbole but seriously I've never been so happy with my haircut. I showed Eugene a picture of what I wanted (a basic taper fade). She also asked how I typically style my hair and based off of of that she went to work. She added some layers and took some weight off the back to balance everything out. I was a bit taken back because it was cut exactly the way I wanted. When I tried to describe this to other stylists it never quite came out the way I had pictured, but with Eugene... it's like she read my mind. Super happy with the cut. I needed a last minute hair appointment and was able to make it in time to Eugene for a quick cut. She was extremely thorough, detailed, gave me tips on how to dry and style my hair for my hair type, and gave me suggestions on how she wanted to cut my hair but would ask me if it's okay before doing it. Before my appointment, I knew how heavy my hair was but somehow it looked really thin whenever I style my bangs. I didn't know what it was and thats when Eugene came along and suggested cutting my baby hair to give an illusion of thicker bangs + a proper long layer cut. I would also like to add that she never disregarded my opinions on how I wanted to cut my hair, which I truly appreciate (since I had experiences with previous hair designers that would ignore everything I say..) Great experience! Here's the rundown. - Eugene is female: Unisex name but I don't see many female Eugene's. It makes no difference to me but it might to someone. So there you go. - Excellent stylist: You know when you tell a stylist you want a certain style but they end up surprising you with something else? Yea, she doesn't do that. Eugene was very thorough. I tell her my future plans, and she gave me choices, advice, and then proceeded. - Scalp massager: The wash after your haircut, she gives a scalp massage with a device and with some kind of hair/scalp product for like a minute. It's a wonderful little bonus. -Slight language barrier: She's fluent in Korean and my Korean is around the 3rd grade level . But I just showed her a picture of how I wanted my hair styled and after a few questions she was good to go. She understands a little English though. - Tips: I've been there 3 times so far and each time she's taught me on how to style my hair for when I'm on my own. That's awesome in my book because I'm no stylist. -Location: she said that her current location is temporary but plans to stay around Buena Park in or near The Source mall. Price: I think it was mid 40s. It was worth it for me since I really felt that she's very skilled. I asked for a different hair style each time and liked each outcome. The BEST haircut I've gotten. Eugene was really nice and they offered me coffee and snacks. She was also really through with my haircut, paid great attention to every strand of my hair. I also got my roots bleach by her and her team. I made an appointment with Suji and she was so nice! Before the cut, I showed her a few pictures of the hairstyle I wanted and the end result was exactly like the photos! I decided to get bangs after a long time, and she kindly advised me on the best length and how to style them. I also asked for many layers, and Suji explained in detail about my hair type and the process to achieve the desired style. She also spoke both English and Korean, so it was easy to communicate about the hairstyle I wanted. The price was a bit pricey, but since I only get haircuts twice a year, I felt it was well worth it.
