My kids were able to go from having no skills, to being able to float, being able to grab onto the side of the pool and climb out, and put there faces in the water while kicking. Each kid had their own unique anxiety about different parts of the swimming lessons and Donna was flexible with customizing what each kid needed. All of my kids went from being nearly terrified of putting their heads in the water to finding something they looked forward to doing in the water. Also, she has very clear communication about the swim lessons via email that made me feel comfortable before I ever got to the pool.

When I was repeatedly charged (after my cancellation), and I called to discuss it with the manager she asked me if I had my copy since it appeared that her copy had fallen through the cracks. One could jump to assumptions as to connecting my complaint to their 'accidentally' losing my paperwork, but why bother! They're either wholesome & ethical or not!

My biggest gripe is the actual class itself with a ratio of 4 kids to 1 instructor. I knew this going in but had hoped it would be okay considering the limited number of options for nearby swim schools. But in actuality the ratio means that my child spends most of the class sitting on the side of the pool waiting for their turn instead of actually spending time in the water or swimming. There's been classes where I've seen the instructor talk to the kids while she's in the water half the time, more than actually swim with them. There's also been a few times where the teacher has ended the class early and gets everyone out of the pool like 5-6 minutes ahead of time so they can rinse off. Then the teacher talks to each parent about what they did in the water that day. So it's good to get feedback but it also takes out of their swim time. Some instructors keep the kids in the whole 30 minutes then go rinse off but most of them take them out of the water a few minutes early. The prior school we went to had a 2:1 ratio. If the instructor was swimming with one child, the other child would spend that time getting rings in the water and swimming back to put them in a basket, or practicing their kicks while holding on to the side of the pool or treading water, etc. They had the child do SOMETHING instead of just sitting there. It kept one child busy while the other one was learning and the ratio was small enough so that the instructor could keep an eye on both kids and safety was never compromised. The other school also had instructors or staff members who would walk around the pool, paying attention to each class ensuring it was still a safe environment so that no kid was struggling to swim or wander off in the pool. We moved so unfortunately had to leave that place. Overall aqua tots is a good place if you are looking for your child to get used to the basics. This review isn't meant to sound negative but just trying to be honest so that whoever reads this has realistic expectations. I'm not sure how much my kid is actually progressing but will update and possibly add more stars if I can see that the swim classes are helping.
