The classes and instructors at Club Pilates Tyler were great, but unfortunately, the billing practices and lack of communication completely ruined my experience. For nearly a month, I called two to three times every week trying to speak with a manager before my next membership payment was due. I could not log into the app to update the credit card on file, and I specifically asked them to stop attempting to process the automatic payment until someone could help me. Despite all of those calls, I never received meaningful help or a return call. Almost a week later, after I deposited money into that account to pay bills, the membership charge was pushed through and left me in a very difficult financial situation. I called multiple times afterward and even went to the studio in person asking for help, but nothing was resolved. They also processed an additional charge of approximately $20 just a few days before the monthly membership payment was taken. My mother also prepaid more than $400 for private sessions. Her health has significantly declined, and she has Parkinson's disease along with other medical issues, so she no longer feels Pilates is a good fit for her. She called repeatedly for weeks trying to speak with someone about transferring the prepaid amount to me, either toward my unlimited membership or so I could use the private sessions. After receiving no response, I obtained the phone number for the instructor who was supposed to work with her. My mother finally explained her health concerns and asked again about transferring the sessions. She was told the matter would be looked into, but she never heard back. Another major concern is that, even with an unlimited monthly membership, members can be charged approximately $15-$25 for missing a class. I understand having a cancellation policy, and I did not have an issue with the 12-hour cancellation requirement under normal circumstances. However, illnesses do not always provide 12 hours of notice. The studio understandably tells members not to attend when they or their children are sick, but members are still financially penalized for staying home. As a single mother who drives at least 30 minutes to attend classes and who has also been traveling to MD Anderson for medical care, there were occasional mornings when either my child was sick or I was physically unable to make it. These situations were not frequent, but I often felt pressured to attend while feeling unwell because I could not afford another charge on top of the monthly membership. I was also charged twice for a pair of socks purchased at the studio. I was told I would receive a credit, but that credit was never applied. Again, the instructors and the actual classes were wonderful. My negative review is based on the billing issues, the difficulty reaching management, the lack of follow-up and the inability to get problems resolved despite repeated calls and an in-person visit. I would not recommend signing a membership agreement here if you have children, health issues or any chance that you may need flexibility. Even keeping detailed records of your calls and charges does not help much when no one follows up and the issues still are not resolved. read more

I took a beginner class today, which they offer complimentary to gain new memberships, yet you're practically required to buy overpriced merchandise (non slip socks if you have no idea about Pilates machines you won't know where to buy or what they even are- basically ensuring a beginner will need to rely on the studio for the overpriced required item to participate). FYI the studio charged $21.65 while you can find them on Amazon for $9.99- so yeahh wayyy OVERPRICED for a limited selection of bizarre looking socks. I've never used a Pilates machine before or paid for a Pilates club membership. At the beginning of class the instructor (GM/half owner according to her) demanded everyone disclose their medical history in front of all of the other students in the most rude approach. It was so unprofessional. All students filled out a waiver form prior to class and if prior injuries were an importance to this gym to know it could of been included on the form. Asides which if an injury was not disclosed that's one of the reasons why the students sign a waiver at any exercise studio, gym, or club, wow what a far out legal concept! The instructor literally said, I have to disclose my injuries in front of everyone, hmm no I don't. Although, I have no problem disclosing such, it's not required except by this studio's own standard and not her place to demand it in such a way. I'm a healthcare worker and I do need to know medical history to save someone's life and I wouldn't EVER ask it in such a way nor are people required to tell me anything they don't want to tell me. No one has to disclose any of their medical history to anyone, aside from subpoena or vaccination status. I have physicians that review my medical history and my activities... it's out of line for a Pilates instructor thinking it's her realm of MUST KNOW disclosure. A Pilates instructor should be intuitive enough to see weaknesses in students and modify an exercise appropriately for the individual, definitely a core concept in any group exercise curriculum. I'm interested in Pilates for the PT and I have confirmation from my physician I'm good with all movements. I wouldn't want an exercise modified prior to even attempting it when I'm medically cleared by a physician for all activity, what a weird concept and counterintuitive to what I'm trying to accomplish! After the initial awkward start demanding medical history, during the class the instructor comes off as condescending and she discusses multiple times she's the Club Pilates GM as well as listing out her credentials of Pilates awesomeness multiple times in some sad display of maintaining her self importance. Yeah I'd hope you were credentialed since people are paying you to teach them Pilates. Mentioning it initially as an introduction is one thing but referring back to it multiple times in class is rather odd. Honestly once she mentioned she was the GM and half owner I wasn't particularly interested in paying for a membership with this studio, because she was that off putting. After class I left asap. I briefly stopped at the front to talk with the receptionist because she was pleasant and trying to make a sell. I picked up on it being required of her to discuss the membership with the students as they were leaving and instead of blowing her off since she had been sweet, I stopped to ask if there were other instructors because I wasn't into the one that taught the class. Probably petty, but I made sure I waited to ask about other instructors when ego queen was in ear shot. Of course the receptionist answers completely sweet as nice as possible and I take off. The GM herself called me after I left, I guess to merely to be confrontational since I had asked if there were other instructors other than her because I wasn't into her as an instructor. The instructor called trying to defend something no clue what she was getting at or why she called because I already told the front desk girl I'd think about it (NOT really) but to be polite to the receptionist. This instructor keeps trying to explain herself on the phone and I raise my voice to talk over her because she won't let me talk then she tries gaslighting to act like I did something wrong by raising my voice when she kept interrupting me and talking over me when she asked a question and she switches it around saying something to the effect "like I'm not doing this with you," or something like that when she's the one that immediately called me after I left acting confrontational!! So I literally have to hang up on her. Total psycho. I personally wouldn't get a membership here because even if it goes well at first there's foundational issues with the personality of the GM/owner arrogance/ego, basically if you have any issues, I highly doubt this one would help you at all and it'd be your fault. After having this experience with this place, the other negative reviews that initially seemed slightly off the wall, make sense. read more

I worked for Club Pilates shortly. I was the receptionist. When I was hired on by the manager Kayla, I was told $9/hr for my first check, $12/hr my second check and so on. That did not happen. The morning of my second check I see it's small but I figure it'll get fixed so no big deal. Wrong again. The manager,Kayla, informs me that her boss is a cheapskate and that she had to threaten to leave just to get her pay raise. These are her words, not mine. She told me that she has to fight for anything around that facility. Which sucks, I totally understand having a boss like that can really hurt morale. Moving on, I was very upset about the situation. I took some time, thought about what I wanted and decided to stay here. This incident was Tuesday, moving on, Wednesday I have a short shift. I came in, wound up having to leave a little early because I had just started medication and was very nauseous and vomiting. I'm off all the way until this morning. Scheduled 7:30-2. I'm having a good morning, everyone was pleasant and nice. Sometime around 10 I look at my phone and there's a message from my boss, Kayla. "You sounded like you had an attitude with me on the phone" this catches me off guard because I was actually having a really good day and to have someone tell me I have an attitude hurt my feelings because I was having a great day. I send a text to Kayla saying I didn't realize I sounded that way, and it's offensive to hear you say that about me. This is where I'm confused so maybe they'll (club Pilates) shed more light on the subject someday. Anyways, so my boss calls me and she has an immediate problem with me. She tells me I've had an attitude ever since the pay thing on Tuesday, but that's impossible because I was only at work Wednesday and that's the day I went home nauseous and throwing up. Yeah I had a problem with the pay, but that should've been understandable. I'm really getting a vibe that she's trying to force me to quit because she kept telling me to clock out and go home. When I refused she threatened to call the police on me. So at this point I just clock out and go home because she's very clearly wanting me to quit. She kept telling me I'm playing the victim or something similar, I don't know I was so taken aback that she was so aggressive about everything I was really stunned into silence. This might be an ok place for Pilates, but if your looking for employment forget it because 1. They'll just lie to you about your pay and then drop a huge bomb on you when you find out how everything is run. Then the manager Kayla, will be consistently hard on you and may even yell at you to quit when you find out all the dirt and secrets they have hidden. Never in my life have I had a boss completely dream up me having an attitude to try to force me to quit. Steer clear of this place for sure for employment, the Pilates instructors are really nice and the other receptionist. I didn't even see Kayla teach a class even one time. And the way she trash talked her boss to me...this is not a business that is run well. Like I said, the instructors are good, the classes are good. But management? Forget it. Rude and disrespectful. Hell, I'm the one on mood stabilizers and The manager was the one who completely came unglued. I'd never seen anything like it. Long story short, there's plenty of other gyms and workout studios in tyler, I'd strongly recommend looking into one of them. At least then you'll know your workout facility value professionalism. Edited to add that the manager is now calling me and yelling at me for posting this review specifically on Facebook. So, Club Pilates Tyler has blocked me from posting a review.
