I decided to take an early flight from Donegal to Dublin a day before I was due to fly back to the US and was staying with my loverly Yelp sister Edel N. who lived a street away from this place. We ran out and did some last minute essential provisions shopping for me to take back to the US (Tay Bags, Bisto, OXO cubes) and on the way back to hers spied this place, open. Dinner!!! Standing at the counter of this regular chippie I commented that I haven't had a real Eyetalian/Dub fish and chips since I left Ireland when I was a pup, or was that when Methuselah was a pup. In any event, it was a long time ago. This place was SPOTLESS. Immaculately clean. And they have a vast menu with a little something of everything. Course, the eyes were bigger than the belly and I ended up with TWO smoked cod and chips and a battered sausage for good measure. I was sorely tempted to order a spice burger but my Ulsters (as the auld wans at home would say about indigestion) would have been giving me a hard time on the plane the next day. So I'll have to save that for the next trip. Well, the chips were delicious and so cleanly fried in fresh oil and fluffy, and the smoked cod was HUGE, hanging over the plate and also fresh and delicious. Like an eejit I underestimated and ordered way too much. The first bite of the battered sausage surprised me too cos I forgot that they don't cook them first before battering them, so its kinda like a boiled sausage, but then it was lovely. Well, standing there waiting for "the feed" I cracked me arse laughing at the woman who came in beside me and her and her fella asked for the "special". Hamburger and chips and a can for 5 Euro. Then she looks up at at the menu board and spies the Dublin Bay Prawns special and turns to her chap and says "here, would ya not go fancy with tha?". Ahh Dublin.

I like the donner kebab if I go for dinner, but after a proper session of drinking the night before chips smothered in vinegar and a battered sausage just can't be beat. If you're feeling properly healthy, try the fish and chips and don't be shy with the vinegar. The food is clean plenty of flavour and taste and the portions are big enough to at least get your moneys worth and not just a tray of watered down sauce and veg. You can actually taste the curry in the curry sauce simple little things that most chinese take aways seem to forget to get to grips with. They have also being doing deals since they opened like when spending over a set amount 10 or so euro you get a free dish which comes in really handy when ordering extra food for more people. Now they aint with out there flaws the chicken balls aint the best haha and fried rice can sometimes be very greasey but you only tend to get this problem late at night. The delivery service is quick and staff are all friendly never any problems. So really if i ever fancy a bit of chinese in Rathcoole its always here and hopefully they will keep there standards up like most places should.
