I was looking for a piercing studio to add to my ear candy collection and after a few phone calls I decided on Eternal Art. After finding out this studio was the oldest in Sarasota, I knew I'd be in good hands. I wanted a tragus and helix piercing to add to my collection. After discussing the jewelry options (I wanted a simple, tiny rhinestone) we settled on a few and Karen (the owner) began to mark my ear with placements. What I loved about Karen is that she gave her honest and professional opinion on placement of the helix. Where I initially wanted it was not going to be the best option because of the shape and curve of my ear. Being a woman herself, she knew I wouldn't love my initial placement ad recommended a lower helix piercing. I appreciated her honesty. She even asked if my two prior piercings were done by different piercers, which I said yes, and she knew right away they were from different people (because of the placement they did, going off of what I wanted and not taking my ear shape into consideration). I went with her recommended area and I couldn't be happier with results. She runs the show here at EA - a small, woman owned business which resonates with me. Karen is highly professional and personal, engaging and makes you feel comfortable and secure. I couldn't recommend Karen enough! Just an fyi - she's cash only - not a problem but come prepared. Through word of mouth, I heard of this place. Recently my wife and I lost 2 fur babies and we were looking to get their paw prints tattooed on us. We walked In and talked to Karen, told her briefly what we wanted and she knew exactly how our prints should be done. Two weeks after a consult, we have gotten our tattoos. Don't go here. She pierces with surgical steel. I literally had to go to another tattoo shop to help fix the damage that she caused. My ear piercing and belly piercing that I got done here are now all red and swollen, and I hope to god they will turn out okay. You are also not supposed to clean the new open wounded piercing with dial soap and thats the only after care that she recommends,and the soap wont do anything but irritate your skin and piercing even more so yeah, don't go to her. I went to Eternal Art for my cartilage piercing a few days ago and I am shocked at how little pain I am feeling now and that I felt while she was piercing my ear. It was quick and easy, (I wish I remembered her name, ugh) but she was very helpful in helping me find a placement on my ear that looked the best. The actual piercing was terrible. I thought this would only take maybe 10 minutes but it took 45 minutes so I was a bit late to my next app. Why did I not say anything? She was about to stab me 4 times, I did not want to rattle her. I don't know her. Self-preservation. She also convinced me I needed posts rather than hoops, which I hate. I really wanted hoops and would have paid. I asked for them but was not given a good reason as to why I could not get hoops. If it was medical, cool. Just tell Me. Now I have these huge faux diamond posts. Those will be removed in 4 weeks and replaced. I am disappointed with the experience. Edit: I no have an infection and have to go to the doctor. Her comment is crap as well. She is horrible at customer service and actually caring. Find someone else. Her directions for aftercare is wrong as well. She said 4 weeks and it really takes 6 weeks. I have never left a yelp review but I feel the need. I really wanted to like this place it seemed affordable, nearby, and had a 4.9 on google. I went in for three helix piercings through the top of my ear cartilage, I understand this could be a difficult piercing but upon showing Ms.Karen a photo I was told less than a minute later that I could " put that picture away because i'm a professional". Professional or not I was in shock by the statement and almost got up right then, looking back I wish I had. I completely understand it being a more alternative piercing but I had called ahead of time to confirm it was possible and came in with numerous reference photos that barely got a glance. I have gotten 17 piercings at this point so I know my body can and almost always does heal with no problems. Upon getting the piercings she managed to do okay at the first two piercings but when it was time for the third it was pierced very crooked poking inwards towards my ear completely out of line with my other two. She immediately grew silent but quickly try to play it off. I immediately knew something was wrong but was hoping it was swelling. when going home I realized she had taken a before photo but no after photo of my ear to show the piercing, meaning she could tell just how botched it was. Unfortunately it became very irritated because of the placement and it rubbing. She made a comment that I had the perfect anatomy for the piercing and it is frustrating because I know it was very possible if taken the proper care. I honestly just wish she could have owned up to it more and helped me take it out and figure out a solution. Now I have a nasty piercing bump for a crooked hole. Like a said I don't write reviews but when it's a body modification I feel like honest reviews are very important and could save someone some pain. read more

I had a cartilage piercing done by Karen and she was great. I'm in my forties and only had a couple of lobe piercings in each ear - I know that's essentially nothing, but having those two was considered pretty out there when I was in my teens - so was a bit nervous about the cartilage. Karen was incredibly sweet - she took the time to answer all my questions beforehand and never made me feel like a silly middle-aged woman, which I was a little scared whomever did the piercing might do. We came in today to get my 6 year olds ears pierced. She really wanted to get it done but was petrified and had chickened out before a few times. Karen was very patient and made sure not only my daughter but mom (me) and dad were happy with the earring hole markings and redid her target many times to get it just right to please us all. When it was time to do the actual piercing she did it so fast that my daughter didn't even notice she had done it until after it was done. She normally cries and screams and throws a fit when getting a shot and for this all she said was ouch. When it was time to do the second hole she started to freak a little bit and Karen calmed her down and waited until she was still and did the second one even faster. I got a small tattoo of my soon to be fiancés heart rhythm on my wrist from when she was having heart complications a few years ago and Karen fell in love with the story. I was told by the owner that she could give me a tattoo exactly like the picture I brought in. 7 hours later I had an ugly piece on my arm that looked nothing like what I had paid $520 for. I have pictures to prove it. After several weeks I went down to A Body of Art in Gulf Gate where they looked at what she had tattooed and profusely apologized for the horrible job a supposed "tattoo artist" did. Now, I have a gorgeous tattoo that covers completely the waste of ink, my time and my money that was previously on my arm. My strong, STRONG advice, go talk to Justin or anyone else at A Body of Art in Gulf Gate if you want a great tattoo. They are 100% professional and not only that, they actually follow through with what they tell you they can do. I literally threw $520 right down the toilet going here. Beautiful woman with a mouth of a sailor that does beautiful work. This was my first tattoo and she was patient with me until I was satisfied with everything! Down to the curve of the A, to repositioning it 3 times before I was satisfied. Like I said this was my first tat and I got it on the inner upper arm (yeah, ouch!) but Karen is so soft and smooth with the needle and since she's funny as hell we laughed the whole time so my mind wasn't focused on the pain. I made a comment to my best friend that I needed to listen to some "gangster rap" to get pumped up and next thing I know she had changed her own music to trap music. Got my ear pierced here...it was virtually painless. Would definitely recommend this place for piercings. I've had my cartilage pierced two other times...and the other people who did it pierced it in a position where the earring was kind of sideways. Gotta say, this is a terrific place for a tattoo. Got one on my right foot Monday. Karen is entertaining, pleasant and honestly, a pro! I was expecting a very painful 15-20 mins on the top of my foot, but instead was pleased with only a few "ouches". I brought in a picture of what I wanted, but Karen thought it didn't look like what it was supposed to be which is the initial "C". And she told me that the lines were too close together, so that in 5 years or so it would be one big undiscernible line. She spent lots of time flipping through google images for something that would be feminine and pretty. She then drew up an image from two different images. It is perfect. Simple, pretty and exactly what I wanted. I would highly recommend Eternal Art for your first or your next tattoo. read more
